We live in California, but love to travel to the Big Island several times a year, and love having our villa, as our home-away-from-home. We enjoy the variety of beaches on the Big Island and cannot get enough of exploring new places and hidden beaches. We love to cook, so you'll find everything in our kitchen that you need to create fantastic island inspired meals. Our villa has boogie boards, snorkels & beach gear, tennis rackets, movies, and all kinds of games. We welcome you as our guests.
Jim Freitas purchased this townhome in 2011
We like the Waikoloa Colony Villas for its spaciousness, award winning architectural design, and lush tropical landscaping. Waikoloa Beach Resort has a convenient central location for exploring the Island, with one of the best beaches on the Kohala Coast. We love the natural beauty of the island and the consistently warm weather.
With two pools, a tennis court, walking paths, exercise room, and meeting room, this is a wonderful complex for families, couples, singles, young and old. This newer complex is close to the Kings' Shops and Queens' Marketplace of the Waikoloa Resort. We also enjoy the close proximity to many of the best beaches in Hawaii.
We just returned home from 15 days staying at Jim's villa. We booked this place having never been to the Big Island before. We did our homework and knew we wanted to stay in the Waikoloa area. We arrived to the villa late after our exhausting flights from Montana. We just hoped we could find the villa and figure out how to get in. Jim had already taken acre of all of that for us. His detailed directions were exactly what we needed. Everything went exactly to plan and when we walked in we were stunned. This is a very nice villa. We immediately felt relieved and at home. Everything we needed for our stay was there. And everything was very nice and well kept, like what you hope for but often don't get when traveling to a new place.
We chose to cook or BBQ most of our meals at the villa. Every cooking implement we needed was there.
The proximity of the villa to the Hilton property was the icing on the cake. We walked to the Hilton and strolled their amazing property and beaches every morning. Be sure to check out the Dolphins there. We watched them for hours!
The villa is also equipped with all the beach toys we needed for our time at the 10-12 different beaches we visited. The Tony Bahama beach chairs and umbrellas were awesome .
We cant wait to go back next year!!
This holiday condo is clearly a top class home away from home. Jim have paid attention to all the details of making a comfortable home for the guests.
We are three guests and stayed in the condo. The location is convenient for travelling to all areas of tourist interest on the island.
As for the unit, it is clean, very functional and extremely cosy. Given that we did not wish to be driving in the evenings, we arranged to cook at home and we found the kitchen very well stocked. We were there in May so swimming everyday the provision of a washing machine plus a separate dryer are definitely a bonus. The free wifi is excellent and reliable, and this is certainly another big plus not to be taken lightly of!
Jim is warm and friendly, and are always at hand to offer insider’s advice for touring the island.
This is must as the price is very affordable and very cost efficient from the money you save from the cooking done with full kitchen
Great games and selection of kids dvds
We spent one week on the Big Island and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this condo. Our first impression walking in was, "we love this place". We have rented via VRBO in many occasions, but have never felt as comfortable we did with this unit. The furniture was very comfortable and the art work was unique and tastefully displayed. The description and suggestions provided by the owners are accurate and worthwhile. The one exceptional quality that stood out for me was the housekeeping. When I had to wipe off some spills from either the kitchen floor or counter top, I consistently found the surfaces to be clean....this meant a lot to us. Thank you for taking so much pride on your unit.
Our family of 5 (one toddler, 2 parents, 2 grandparents) had a fabulous stay here. The villa is luxuriously provisioned for a vacation: beach chairs, towels, toys, snorkels, boogie boards, books, games. The kitchen is amply stocked with all possible utensils, spices, high chair for a toddler. Waikoloa Colony Villas have beautiful swimming pools. This is a few minutes to A-bay, 20 min drive to Hapuna and Mauna Kea beaches.
The owners have thoughtfully provided everything possible for guests and were very responsive to all our questions. Thank you!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed two weeks at this beautiful Waikoloa Colony Villa and Resort area. The descriptions and photos provided in the listing were accurate and helpful. The property was very clean and well-maintained. This was our first trip to the Big Island. Fortunately, the owners provided an abundance of sightseeing information. The most helpful was a book called Hawaii The Big Island Revealed (it accompanied us on all of our treks). Our favorite Big Island attractions: Hawaii Volcano National Park (visited twice), especially hiking the Kilauea Iki Trail and the Lava Tube; Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Garden (visited twice); Mauna Kea visitor center (star gazing); and the Waipio Valley and Pololu Valley Lookouts. Our favorite food/beverages on the island: Tropical Dreams ice cream; Punalu'u Bake Shop sweet bread; Hula Daddy and Ka'u coffees; and the Kahua Ranch Burger at Village Burger restaurant in Waimea. Our favorite restaurants: Lava Java in Waikoloa Village (breakfast); Café Pesto in Hilo (lunch); Lava Lava Club in Waikoloa Resort (appetizers); and Hilo Bay Café (dinner). We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives and stay here again.
We stayed here for two weeks in May. We have two children, one 3 and one 6 and found the unit and location perfectly suited to them. It is 10 minutes to Hapuna and Mauna Kea beaches, the ones most consider to be the Island's nicest and 15 minutes from Spencer which is more sheltered and better for much smaller children. We also drove to the north tip of the Island to visit Pololu Valley where they have a lovely smattering of black sand (you can find green sand at the resort beach, Anaehoomalu Bay). We explored the volcanoes, day long trips - these trips were fun (even with the ever changing speed limits) but we found the weather unpredictable and generally rainy everywhere else on the island except where we were - it was always arid and pleasant, and especially after the rain/humidity/mosquitoes of Hilo (and even at Kona it rained a lot) and the absolute drenching in dense fog we encountered on Saddle Road. Jim, the owner checked in with us via e-mail to see how everything was going and even stopped by to replace a bulb that had burned out in the kitchen. The unit is very clean and the complex is absolutely silent at night. Provisions are supplied by the owner including beach umbrellas/chairs, snorkels/masks, towels and even a cooler! At night if it's too hot, the unit also includes a heat pump (like an A/C) and fans in each room. One complaint directed more at the entire Waikoloa resort is that the drive through the complex to get to Highway 19 is more than 5 minutes, pleasant the first few times, less so the 20th time - and strange since if they completed the other entrance, this unit would be a 1 minute drive to the highway. One suggestion for the owner would be more plastic patio cups/plates, with young children, I was always worried about breaking a plate on the Lanai – having said that, a number of paper plates were supplied. Overall, it was an amazing vacation and an amazing place to stay, we will definitely be back on our next trip to the Big Island!
