FLORENCE ITALY PERFECT TORELLA APARTMENT
Romantic apartment has inspiring views of Florence. Top floor, sunny bright. Located on the Oltrarno side of the river directly across from the Uffizi museum. Fabulous terrace.
"We loved our stay at the Torella--it was a magical time in a perfect setting."
1 bedroom with queen sized bed, 1 bathroom, living room, kitchen, large terrace with spectacular views. 463 square feet on two levels with living room, kitchen, bathroom with shower, terrace downstairs. Bedroom upstairs (up one short narrow flight of stairs).
6th floor with elevator. Apartment entrance is up 1 flight of stairs after exiting the elevator. Washer, wifi internet, electric stove, microwave, satellite TV. A/C in living room & bedroom. Building has a doorman.
This amazingly sun filled apartment is at the top of a Renaissance palazzo that faces the gallery of the Uffizi gallery, the most famous museum in Florence, across the Arno river.
"Torella was a fabulous location, wonderful views of the Arno River and terrifically close to the Ponte Vecchio, Pizzi Palace and other sites."
The building blends with its Renaissance-age neighbors with grey stone, pietra serena, accenting its classical proportions. The building is locked and has a doorman during business hours.
There are a few steps from the street to the level of the elevator which takes you all the way to the floor below the Torella apartment.
The staircase, 18 steps, is beautifully painted and leads past a coat closet to the main level of the apartment.
The expansive, private terrace is the highlight of the main level. It faces uphill and from there you can see across the river to Santa Croce, Ponte alle Grazie, San Miniate and Piazzale Michelangelo with its beautiful views. A garden in the summer, the terrace has a table and chairs for dining and enjoying the sun and views.
"I loved the terrace. On sunny days I would sit out there working, facing eastward up river."
From the terrace, step into a charming room that has a full height window and door on its terrace side. There is a glass-topped table with two chairs, a bench and shelf unit in this room. A pass-through window opens onto the kitchen.
Three steps from this dining room leads into the living room with comfortable sofa, chair, credenza with television. The credenza contains the dishes and silver ware as well as the microwave. Alongside the credenza is also the refrigerator-freezer.
The kitchen is small, but has everything for preparing meals: two burner electric stove, sink, coffee pot, drip coffee maker, electric tea kettle, pots, pans, knives, utensils.
The bathroom has a shower, toilet, bidet, sink and washing machine. It has an independent heating unit.
The bedroom is accessed up a narrow staircase that rises from the living room. There are 19 steps that aren`t wide, about 19'. Under the steps is the clothes closet and a small closet that holds the vacuum.
If the terrace weren`t enough for views and light, the bedroom may even be more wonderful. A room built on top of the building, the bedroom has an arched window in each wall with a memorable view from each. The bed is a divisible king, that can be organized as separate single beds for traveling friends. If you stay up late, maybe even just enjoying the view, you can close the light-blocking drapes so you don`t have to rise with the sun.
"The bedroom is the highlight of the flat. It is the turret on top of the Palazzo with a 360 degree view all over Florence."

This apartment is offered by Italy Perfect. We are a family business with a mission! We want you to love visiting Italy as much as we do. We are sisters Lisa and Pat Byrne who lived in Italy in our youth and now travel there frequently for business and pleasure.
Pat purchased this apartment in 2000
This was our first trip to Florence and we chose this apartment because it seemed like the perfect place. We were not disappointed. The location was incredible - easy walking distance to the places we wanted to visit and the views!! The apartment had everything we needed and was extremely comfortable. It was close to shops, groceries, restaurants, gelato(!)so we did not have far to go for things we needed. Our greeter met us as scheduled (even though we didn't know our arrival time until the week before), was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful in letting us know how to operate things and where to go for what we needed. We would definitely stay in Torella again.
My wife and I spent a week in Florence for our honeymoon, and had a great stay at Torrella. The location was perfect! It is situated on the Arno River, with amazing views. The terrace was really nice - we had breakfast on it every morning. The bedroom was amazing with gothic shaped windows on all four walls with great views around Florence. The hosts were very accommodating and met us at the apartment when we arrived by train and walked to the apartment. The air conditioning and WiFi were very good. The bed, like many in Italy, was hard; we asked our host for a mattress topper after the first night and she graciously accommodated us. We would definitely stay her again.
We spent a week in Florence and made this apartment our home. The location is perfect. It is blocks away from the craziness of Ponte Vecchio, but close enough to everything that you need to be close to.
The bedroom is wonderful. After you make your way up the creeky and narrow stairs, you have the most amazing vistas. In the evening hours, there are stunning sunsets. At night, the lights are wonderful. You will love staring across the Arno from the Uffici and saying, "hey! That's my bedroom!"
And the terrace, oh the terrace.... You will see the many moods of the Arno and the lights of Florence; you'll be greeted by the distant steeple of San Mateo in the hills. You'll watch neighbors tend their window wells and sip their evening glass of wine.
The managers were helpful but not intrusive. And the best thing is that at the end of the day you can relax and continue seeing the sights of Italy from your Florence home. Highly recommended.
The apartment is a bit retrofitted but very clean and comfortable. The view is spectacular, especially waking up in the bedroom which is right on top of a 6 story building. My only complaint would be the mattress which I found to be not of great quality and did not sleep real well.
My husband and I spent 5 fabulous days Florence in the Torella apartment. I recommend it 100%. The location is beyond perfect. The apartment itself is quirky, whimsical and awesome! The bedroom is literally perched on top of the building and has windows on all 4 walls. You feel like you are sitting on top of Florence. The patio is great too! But we were there during the 2015 heatwave, so our patio sitting was early am and late pm. Since we were there during a serious heat wave, having air conditioning was beyond wonderful. If you are traveling in the summer, I highly recommend making sure your rental has AC. Italy Perfect is an incredible and professional company. Everyone we had contact with was super helpful and accommodating.
Our trip to Florence for 9 days at the end of November couldn't have been more perfect, in large part due to the wonderful apartment we stayed in. Torella was an ideal location, a minute from the Ponte Vecchio, around the corner from the Pitti Palace and across the Arno from the Uffizi. The apartment itself was comfortable and cozy, with breathtaking views from the bedroom at all hours. One of the unexpected bonuses was that it was extremely quiet; no sound from other apartments, neighbors or even the street. We enjoyed the terrace and found the living room very relaxing. Both our greeter and the doorman were extremely helpful, which was especially important considering our luggage was lost on the trip there. They were instrumental in our obtaining it without further problems. We loved being close to the main attractions, but also the quiet small streets and piazzas in this region, and especially the artisans of the Santo Spirito neighborhood. Restaurants within walking distance were all superb, and we found the recommendations in the apartment very helpful. We also made daily trips to the grocery store down the street, perfect for supplies for breakfast or snacks. We were able to do what we had hoped this vacation could do: relax and live as the locals might, walking everywhere, enjoying the beauty and vibrancy of this beautiful Italian city. We can't wait to return.
We spent a great week in Florence at this unique apartment. The location is ideal: walking distance to everything, and yet out of the city center bustle. And the views in all directions from this top floor apartment: fantastic, especially at sunset and at night.
As others have pointed out, residents of this apartment must navigate a flight of stairs to get from the elevator to the apartment, and another flight of stairs to get up to the bedroom. We wouldn't recommend it for people with mobility problems...but the space and the views make it well worth it if you don't mind the extra climb. Christiana our greeter was friendly and thorough, and very accommodating to our need for a late check out.
Two recommendations for nearby activities in the Oltrarno area: take in a light dinner and wine tasting at the enoteca Le Volpi e l'Uva, and (if you're a music lover) an opera performance at St. Mark's English Church. Both are a quick 10-minute walk from Torella (longer if you stop for gelato on your way home!).
