About the property

Spacious apartment in restored 1940's era house

Our spacious 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment occupies the entire second story of a restored stone house built in the 1940's. It offers a roomy, separate study, hardwood floors, loads of natural light and vintage charm.

You can rent the treetop suite to sleep 2, or you can combine it with one or both of the downstairs units to sleep a total of 4 or 6. To see the downstairs units, please enter their listing numbers in the VRBO search bar: 442385 (1 bedroom unit) and 423250 (studio).

All 3 units have clean, crisp linens, quality furnishings, and original art. Our WiFi connection is good, and the landscaped patios are a great place to enjoy the quiet of an established Austin neighborhood only five minutes from downtown or the SoCo district, and walking distance from the increasingly popular South Lamar ('SOLA') district.

We offer bikes for you to explore the many things to do near the house. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, check out the greenbelt along Barton Creek or Barton Springs Pool--each about a mile away. If you are looking for great food, you are just around the corner from the iconic Matt's El Rancho and the fabulous 'Restaurant Row' on Barton Springs Road. Walk to the ACL music festival or enjoy live outdoor summer theater at Zilker Park. Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Zilker Botanical Garden are beautiful places to explore and picnic. At the end of the day, dance to live country music at the locally-famous hole in the wall--the Broken Spoke. Or check out the HighBall retro bowling alley/karaoke bar and neighboring Alamo Drafthouse Cinema--uniquely Austin experiences.

If you want to venture outside the neighborhood, we're also close to the University of Texas and the Highland Lakes just west of town. We are happy to recommend things to do and places to see.

A great experience

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Treetop Suite for three nights and loved our stay. The apartment is very spacious and light ( lots of windows) and very tastefully decorated. It is immaculately clean and quiet. We also welcomed thoughtful amenities such as nice shower gel, sparkling water, Starbucks coffee and fruit.

The bedroom is cozy and the bed is really comfortable. Although we didn't cook, the kitchen is big enough and well appointed to do so. For us the location is perfect as it is only three blocks away from our daughter's house. The neighborhood is charming and within short distance of restaurants, drugstore and coffee shops. We look forward to staying there again.

Very charming apartment with upscale features

  • 4 of 5

This is a very clean & charming/upsale unit. It had everything we needed to cook and be comfortable during our stay. Good location for access to outdoor activities. Only drawback is the construction nextdoor-- early morning hammering and loud music.

Cozy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

I wish I had more time to spend in the cottage, but I was busy with wedding activities. This was perfect for just a couple or a small family. In a nice quiet neighborhood.

A+ Perfect Get Away!

  • 5 of 5

We did a 4 day weekend get away and loved the place. Clean, freshly furnished, awesome kitchen, comfy bed, bikes ready to roll, local to great eats and shopping. The other 2 units were occupied and we had no issues with noise or neighbors. The owners pride themselves on providing a perfect unit. They left a helpful book with area hot spots. Highly recommended and we will be back!!

Beautifully cozy!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Paramount Treehouse for Labor Day weekend. The house was beautifully decorated and very cozy with all amenities. The location was great with many restaurants along south Lamar or just a short cab ride downtown. The house is tucked away in a (mostly) quiet neighborhood with mature trees and great character. The only complaint, which was no fault of the owners, is current construction of a home right next door. We were woken up at 7-8 am two of the three mornings there, as the construction is just outside the bedroom windows. I would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone, but would ask about the construction. Thank you for sharing this great home away from home in Austin!

Owner's Response: Hi Melody, Thank you for your lovely review--so glad you enjoyed the house. And thank you so much for brining the construction next door to our attention! The construction was on hold for months and we were not aware they had resumed. As of now, November 15, 2016, the structure has been completed so any work to be done would be on the interior of the home, which I assume will not pose any sort of noise issues for our guests. But if you are thinking of renting and have any concerns, please reach out for an update. Thanks!

Car: not necessary

We are only 5 minutes from downtown, yet nestled in the quiet of an established Austin neighborhood. We have bikes to explore all there is to see and do within just minutes of the house, including the Barton Creek greenbelt, Zilker Park (home to Barton Springs pool and various festivals and outdoor theater), excellent restaurants and shops, and local night spots like the Broken Spoke and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. In fact there is so much to see and do in our area that we have published a neighborhood guide for our guests.
