About Richard

I have been an active outdoors person all my life. I enjoy gardening, hikes, animal watching and many more outdoor activities.

Richard purchased this house in 2007

Why Richard chose Northern Michigan

This property is one of the best in the area with many outdoor activities. Close to Traverse City and many tourist hot spots it can't be beat!

What makes this house unique

I purchased this vacant property in 2005 and camped on it for 2 years on and off to get a feel for the land before I built on it. I believe the location of the home and its surrounding land makes it a great vacation spot for all.

Perfect hub for your outdoor recreation!

  • 5 of 5

This is the third time our group has rented this house. The setting is fantastic for relaxation and a gateway to the outdoors we've rented Richard's house as our up north base to race mountain bikes. What a perfect place to come back to; ice bath in the river, hottub for the aching muscles and the steam shower! What more could you ask for?

Richard is a wonderful host and this home is kept immaculately! Thanks again Richard, see you next time!

Absolutely a beautiful home and setting

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the most beautiful homes and views I've ever experienced! Great location, close to downtown, fantastic fishing, and the kayak trips were amazing! We saw so much wild life and the wonders of nature! I would recommend this home to honeymooners, couples, families, really any group of people! Plenty of space with everything you need for an extended stay! We will definitely be back!!!!

Amazing property, views and home!

  • 5 of 5

This property is exactly as it is looks in the pictures. The property is amazing with great privacy and views of the river. Loved fishing on the banks with a fire nearby. The family room and kitchen are great for entertaining and cooking, has everything you would need. The family room had very comfortable seating with a wood burning fireplace, awesome! Bedrooms were all spacious and comfortable. Plenty of extra blankets and pillows too. Hot tub was 1 step out the back door, so great. Richard lives right down the road and was very responsive to any and all of our needs. Headed into Traverse City for dining, bowling and wine tasting. Plenty to do for a long fall weekend. We surprised our parents for their wedding anniversary by taking them to Richard's place and they absolutely loved the accommodations and the overall experience. We would very highly recommend this home and will look for an opportunity to rent with Richard again!

Wonderful visit (again)

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here two years ago in October and again this October, one week each time. Both visits were wonderful. It's a beautiful house with a wonderful view. We love being right on the river but also close to lots of great restaurants and things to do in Traverse city. The house has a lot of great, open space. It is easy to baby proof for our 1 and 3 year old children. They loved running around in the woods around the house and down by the river. There are also a lot of Boardman River trails just down the road.

Richard is a great host. Helpful when necessary, friendly but definitely gives you your space to have a fantastic vacation. Hot tub and steam shower are great bonuses. Would return here every weekend if we could!

We had an awesome time. The house was fabulous, it was clean and perfect for our group. The property is beautiful, the river, the trees and the majestic scenery made us feel like we were in a wonderful movie. Richard was very accommodating and hospitable.

Perfect Northern Michigan Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Richard has created the perfect vacation home. This is not a standard up-north rental full of used furniture and random rickrack. This is a house designed to feel like a home in paradise. It's the details that make the difference: good appliances and kitchenware for cooking. Quality deck chairs. The STEAM SHOWER and a clean, well-kept hot tub. I've been renting homes 'up north' for years and this is by far THE best. We spent hours hiking in the woods, sitting at the fire and greeting the river traffic, relaxing on the deck, hanging in the house...highly recommend this be your choice.

Located on the beautiful Boardman River just min. away from historic downtown Traverse City. Many wonderful restaurants, wineries, golf courses, and shops just to name a few of the many things available to do and see in the area. Great boating and fishing, hiking and kayaking. We have the Cherry Festival in July, Horse show in July, Movie Festival after that and many, many events thru-out the spring, summer, and fall. And don't forget about the fall colors. There is no better place to see them than on the River! There is plenty of wildlife in the area, lots to do and see right in this beautiful home's backyard! Enjoy a bonfire by the river and watch the night sky for northern lights and satelites!
