Just 25 miles from the northern entrance into Yosemite National Park, (an hour's drive to Yosemite valley) you will find yourself in a fully furnished home that is the perfect get away. It has an unobstructed view of a lovely 100 acre meadow and is in Stanislaus National forest. If you are looking for solitude, sunshiny days and starlet nights in the pines then you will love this home. At 3200 feet we’re just above the snow mark but below the blizzard line. We’re just ½ mile from the nearest grocery store or gas station and 10 minutes (8 miles) from Highway 120.
Our vacation property can accommodate 6+ comfortably. It has three bedrooms; master bedroom has a king size adjustable bed and a private full-bath. The two smaller bedrooms have queen beds and share a full-bath. Children or adventurous at heart could sleep on queen size air beds in a nicely finished garage area in the summer. (see pictures)
There is easy access to the house through the garage and front door. There is a deck across the back of the house and the setting is very private. There is access to internet and it has dish TV.
The large kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs and has granite throughout. It includes a large Island for cooking or eating. There is a gas BBQ grill in the back yard.
The hot tub is fabulous for relaxing anytime but especially under the stars at night. It has therapy jets for those tired muscles after a long day of sightseeing or hiking.
Lori and I met while we were young and only 17 while attending college up in Idaho. Doug retired and we purchased this home in 2012 as our vacation dream home. We love it so much that we enjoy staying here whenever we can. The mountains are beautiful and it is very peaceful here. Lori and I have 5 children and 18 grand children with one on the way. We enjoy camping, traveling, but mostly just doing work around our homes.
and visiting with friends.
Doug Dalton purchased this house in 2012
We chose this property because we enjoy mountain living without the hustle and bustle of resort areas. Little traffic and yet close to Yosemite and wonderful hiking adventures.
Very quiet, small town, enjoy the stars-Yosemite and nearby historic towns.
The house is great - the kitchen very well stocked. We had Thanksgiving dinner there and didn't lack anything for it's preparation, so that is impressive. Other than a nearby grocery store the location is a bit remote. The host was very responsive and friendly.
Doug was very organized with directions. The place was beautiful and clean
Nice and well-equipped house, great gas grill, very convenient to the grocery store and gas station.
About 45 min from the park entrance (and then another 45 to the valley).
We stayed at this property for 4 nights at the end of July 2016. It was spotlessly clean and very welcoming. All the appliances were very good all except the toaster which expired during our stay (these things happen and in no way detracted). Our teenage boys enjoyed the outside space and played golf every evening. At night the lack of light pollution made the night sky spectacular, and we all enjoyed just staring at the stars and the occasional shooting star.
We ate in, which was nice as we had been in California for 2 weeks by then dining in restaurants every evening, so making our own with California's fine produce was good fun. I would recommend using the local supermarket. The staff are super friendly and keen to help. Other supermarkets are available in nearby towns but are busy and less friendly and not as well stocked.
We visited Yosemite which is a twisty drive though not far in mileage, but very busy and hot. Glacier point is the most spectacular and there is a huge car park, so no problem parking. The museum in Yosemite village, especially the section on the native indians, is a fascinating insight to a section of history we are rarely exposed to, and was really worth seeing.
We spent a day at Columbia Historic State Park. This is like stepping back in time, about the 1890's. You can just wonder the streets, looking at the old buildings. We had a drink in the old Saloon with the stuffed deer head above the bar, and listened to the gentleman on the clanky piano, and drank the ice cold freshly made lemonade. I would definitely come back and stay both at this property, and also explore this area more thoroughly.
What a beautiful home with wonderful outdoor space. We loved the swings during the quiet mornings and evenings. Doug and Lori provided everything we needed for a great vacation. The hot tub was a welcome treat after a day at the park. We look forward to returning to Yosemite to experience another season of beauty.
In addition to the Yosemite area, historic Jamestown is great fun and kids love to ride the real steam train. Gold Panning, available near Columbia Old West town, in Sonora, view first rate Plays at Sierra Repertory Theater. Cinema Movies Theater, also in Sonora. Houseboating and water toys at nearby Don Pedro and McClure Lakes, Hike and swim at nearby Rainbow Pools and Carlon Falls.
White Water Raft in some of the best white water rapids in the world on nearby Toulemne river (Only 10 miles). Beautiful Hetch Hetchy Reservoir and Tennia Lake near by on the North side of Yosemite.
You can Golf at famous Pine Mountain Lake Golf Course.
At times, Caretaker present on property.
