Wonderful views of Lake Huron are yours with this charming A-Frame cottage, located 15 minutes from the town of Cheboygan. The beach here is just steps from the deck and cottage. The cottage has been completely remodeled inside, and is just beautiful! The cottage features an open concept living, dining, and kitchen area, 3 bedrooms, and one full bath. The cottage is located in a quiet wooded association which features four parks, complete with playground equipment, basketball courts, and a sand volleyball court. The roads in the area are great for bike riding, jogging or walking. This is an ideal cottage for families or couples. PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO HIGH WATER LEVELS, THE BEACH AT THIS COTTAGE HAS BEEN GREATLY REDUCED IN SIZE, AND IS NOW MADE UP OF MOSTLY SMALL STONES. THERE IS A NICE SAND BEACH LESS THAN A MILE AWAY AT ONE OF THE BEACHES OWNED BY THE ASSOCIATION THAT THE COTTAGE IS IN.
Our week at this cottage was spectacular. All was in order, very comfortable and beautiful. Our weather was typical Northen Michigan fall: sunny one minute, rainy the next. But the cottage was perfect for both. The improvements are very nice. I mention this because our Realtor showed us the place twice several years ago; just too early to make the move north. We came close! So, great job Richardsons! We love Cordwood and will love returning.
Thanks for a great time!
This cottage is awesome! The pictures don't do it justice. The views of Lake Huron are incredible, we sat on the deck every morning and every evening and just took the sites in. The cottage itself is great, very clean and well kept and plenty of room for my family of 4. The water is literally steps away from the cottage and we enjoyed swimming each day. The street the cottage is on is very quiet and has little traffic, our kids were able to ride their bikes everyday with no worries. The location is nice as well, we were able to take day trips to Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, St. Ignace, Cheboygan and Sault Ste. Marie. I would highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.
Wonderful cozy cottage with great views of Lake Huron. You get absolutely beautiful sunrises and sunsets while also being able to see the Mackinaw Bridge. The upstairs has a balcony and you can also watch the sunrise from in bed!!!! It is located at a great location that is close enough to the U.P. to go check out the waterfalls and beautiful scenery. Also had a first of seeing an eagle swoop down and grab a fish about ten feet off of the beach at the cottage. The lake is great for kayaking when the wake is low and there is lots to see like a ship wreck just five houses to the east at the community beach. And you cannot forget to stop by The Big Dipper for ice cream!!!!!! If you want an adventures bike ride, take the ferry ride from Cheboygan to Bois Blake Island. Just be sure to bring snacks and water for the whole day because the island is a good size beautiful. Fully equipped kitchen with all you need to cook and bake including crockpot, blender, toaster, and microwave. Nice size refrigerator/freezer to store your food. Nice clean bathroom with great water pressure and plenty of towel racks. Great amount of parking space (fits four vehicles with comfort). Deck is huge and has nice size picnic table. The porch on the road side of the cottage has an area to wash off feet to prevent tracking the outdoors inside. May want to bring paper plates and plastic ware. The neighbors were very nice and had a very social dog that would occasionally visit. A definite vacation spot to come back to and can’t wait to do so!!!!
Our family had a last minute vacation change this summer, so we booked this cottage on the lake because the dates needed were open. This turned out to be one of the best Northern Michigan trips ever. The cottage was clean, comfortable and cozy, just like the description states. The beach was even better. We spent most of the time on the quiet beach watching the freighters pass and enjoying an evening bon fire. Cody, the neighbor dog would come visit periodically, just give him a stick and you will be friends forever.
We did spend the day at Mackinac Island just up the road 25 miles or so, but other than that, we chose the serenity of Cordwood Trail. Can't wait to go back next summer!
It is true that the pictures do not do this place justice! It is absolutely perfect and affordable for a family get away. It is just far enough away from town but not too far away in case you need something. It has the perfect feel of up north in the front with the trees and then the beach in the back with the amazing view of the lake.
The house is right on a shipping lane so it very common to wake up to a huge freighter making its way across the lake. An even more amazing sight is seeing a freighter make its way at night across the lake all lit up with the Mackinac Bridge just down the beach. If the wind calms down enough you can hear the Cheboygan light house horn.
You can tell a lot of care and attention went into this rental property. The linens, towels and supplies are of very good quality and there is plenty of dishes, cups, pots, pans and utensils. They even supplies paper towel, trash bags and toilet paper! The place was immaculate when we arrived!
Both Bill and Peg Stark were very accommodating and helpful when you had any questions. They even supplied a very helpful binder which listed restaurants, things to do and see while visiting. They even offer 24/7 concierge service.
We almost had to cancel our family vacation this year and are so glad that we did not. This was definitely money and time well spent. I only hope we can do this again next year!
This cottage is great! We were there last week and realized that the pictures don't do it justice. The beach is MUCH closer than it looks. You can see the Mackinaw Bridge from the beach, and the sunsets are breath-taking. There is a private campfire pit, stocked with wood and kindling. The owners have thought of everything. Plenty of nice, plush towels. Plenty of luxury sheets. Not the usual cheap stuff of rental units. The cottage was VERY clean and comfortable. There were beach chairs and beach toys. We didn't need to bring half the items we packed! The cottage sits in the shade of the woods, and is always nice and cool. Don't let that fool you...get down to the beach where it is warm and sunny. The guys hiked the trails at Cheboygan State Park. We visited Mackinaw Island, Indian River, Cross in the Woods, and shopped in Mackinaw City. Had plenty of beach time, and ice cream at the Big Dipper every night! We also enjoyed watching the freighters passing through the lake. I highly recommend this cottage, and hope to return to spend more time there in the future.
The cottage is located about a 15 minute drive from the town of Cheboygan. The cottage is within a one hour drive from popular attractions in Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Indian River, Petoskey, and Harbor Springs.
