This beautiful lake front home with 110 ft of Lake Michigan frontage offers (1) king & (2) Queen beds. This property is an excellent vacation home for adventurists and nature lovers. The island has an abundance of nature trails for walking or biking. Lake Michigan's crystal clear water makes it feel like you are in the Caribbean without the expense of getting there. Beaver Island also has a very large wildlife population, which can be seen from the comfort of the home. Some other activities on the Island can be found through the Beaver Island Chamber of Commerce such as (fishing charters, scuba lessons, jet ski rentals and many others).
We fell in love with Beaver Island because it is like going back in time to a much simpler life style. Materialistic things don't really seem to matter on the island. When we vacation there ourselves time is not an important part of the day.
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The house was clean, spacious, and had all we needed for the week. It is a fair distance from town, which ensures that it is very quiet. We definitely felt like we were able to slow down and enjoy all the natural beauty of Beaver Island. The father of the owner gave us a tremendous welcome and orientation to the island. We enjoyed kayaking, biking, hiking, and lots of reading. This is a great getaway if you are looking for a beautiful and serene place to slow down for awhile.
So, upon first arrival, we were slightly disappointed by the beach and the landscape. BUT we quickly realized and kept realizing further, that we had the best rental place on Beaver Island.
When we walked into the house we found it was beautiful, clean, spacious, and the kitchen had everything we needed. 1.5 baths is always a plus! Then the master bedroom was incredible! Look at the picture! The bed was very comfortable. We loved being in that room. We may have slept in a little too much because of it.
We took the little row boat on lake michigan. It took a little cleaning off but once we did it was really fun to have out on the great lake! The water was incredibly clear. Then they told us about another dingy that they have on an inland lake and we tried that one too. The lake was beautiful and the access was easier than on lake michigan, so if going through the marsh at first bothers you, then try out the BEAUTIFUL inland lake. Bring water shoes! It's rocky.
Also past reviews say that the property is 45 minutes from town. They must've been driving on turtle speed. It's only about 25-30 and the drive is SO beautiful and it's WAY better to be outside of town to really feel like you're getting away on the pristine island retreat! I did not feel like the drive into town was too far. It was beautiful and gave us repeated opportunity to see more of the island.
Also, the father-in-law of the homeowner will drop by occasionally to make sure everything is going okay. He's very sweet and gives GREAT Island advice and information, so listen up!
We also rented a geo tracker and that was very affordable and fun! It was great to take the soft tops off!
This place was very clean and everything you could need in the kitchen. The scenery was amazing and it is very peaceful. The neighbors are really nice and helpful especially helping with directions to the best fishing places and other tourist locations. The only thing is, it's a bit aways from the main town, like around 45 min drive there and back.
First time on Beaver Island and the only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer! The place is beautiful and laid out well for a week/weekend of relaxing. We found everything we needed in the house and the owners father (who lives down the street) even stopped by to chat, give some local secrets of the island and offer any other help we needed to just swing on by.
It's about a 20min drive to town (google maps and the GPS is incorrect showing the address but the address is easy enough to find if you just follow the road) so be sure and stock up in town and remember that everything is on island time so things close early and slows down but that's the point of getting away is it not? Make sure to either bring bikes or rent as there are numerous trails throughout the island.
AT&T, Verzion and Sprint all where spotty in the house at best so a great excuse to turn off the tech, kick back and enjoy the waves crashing on the shore and the company you bring.
