This beautiful lake front home with 110 ft of Lake Michigan frontage offers (1) king & (2) Queen beds. This property is an excellent vacation home for adventurists and nature lovers. The island has an abundance of nature trails for walking or biking. Lake Michigan's crystal clear water makes it feel like you are in the Caribbean without the expense of getting there. Beaver Island also has a very large wildlife population, which can be seen from the comfort of the home. Some other activities on the Island can be found through the Beaver Island Chamber of Commerce such as (fishing charters, scuba lessons, jet ski rentals and many others).
We fell in love with Beaver Island because it is like going back in time to a much simpler life style. Materialistic things don't really seem to matter on the island. When we vacation there ourselves time is not an important part of the day.
A great place, a great view. I woke up wondering why the 'fan' was so loud. Turns out it was the sound of Lake Michigan waves crashing on the shore coming through the patio door of our bedroom. Took days to boodle around the isle, take in the sights, and swim in the lake. Maul in the shed to split some wood. Loved it. A great experience on a Great Lake. Thank you for sharing your place!
We loved everything!!! The house was exactly as pictured, and was immaculate and comfortable with everything we needed. Porch overlooking the lake was where we spent most of our time in the motning and evening. The view and sunrises are AMAZING. We saw tons of ships out on the water, along with deer, frogs, snakes, chipmunks, an eagle, and a coyote! We explored several beaches but always came back to Iron Ore Bay. The water in front of the house is warm and shallow, good for kids. I do recommend water shoes. Terry stopped by to offer tips and sightseeing opportunities and was very knowledgeable about the island which was very helpful. We literally had the best time at this house. We enjoyed making a nightly fire and exploring the woods to collect wood to burn, and our 9 year old Boxer had the time of her life. We gad dinner at Daddy Franks and at the Stoney Acre Grill and both were great. We make most meals at home on the superior stainless 6 burner grill that is a work of art! We are now in the market for a new grill at home :)
My minor suggestions to make the place even better would be:
1. Replace the 2 arm chairs with another couch for more seating as a family. There were a few rainy days that we wished we had a tad more couch:)
2. A normal skillet. There was a tiny one and giant one, and a channeled squafe pancake griddle but no normal 10-12" skillet that we could find.
Literally that is it. The place was fantastic. Thank you so much!!
Terry was very helpful and kind. We wanted a nice view with lots of nature and not many people and so we were very happy.
We had an excellent experience on Beaver Island, and the vacation home surpassed our expectation. The house was very clean and had all needed amenities.Terry was wonderful and made sure we were all comfortable and knew about the best sites to see on the island. I loved that the house was away from all hustle and bustle. We had fun exploring the many different roads into town. Every morning my husband and I enjoyed going on a run following the gorgeous Lake Michigan coastline every morning. I am already starting to plan my trip to Beaver Island for next year! I can't wait to get back.
If you want to get away from it all and enjoy the wilderness and beaches of Beaver Island this is a great location. House is clean, comfortable and has most everything you will need. Beds and bathrooms spacious and clean. As this was our first trip to Beaver Island, we didn't quite realize the time to get to town to pick up groceries, etc. Car is a must due to the distance to this property and you want to pick up/bring what you want either before you come to the island or right when you get to town. And pick up a few green garbage bags to take trash with you when you go. There is a transfer station where you need to drop it. Nothing to do with the property, but we would skip the golf course next time. There are boats, kayaks, bikes on the property. And the beaches were great in August--water was cool enough to be refreshing but not too cold. There were a few biting flies--we had bug spray packed so these were not a problem. We enjoyed being away from the north end of the island but I can see why it would be nice to stay there also. Terry and Nancy were attentive and available when we were there. Gave us lots of great tips on exploring th island. We would definitely stay again.
We had a great stay at the house. The place itself is very nice and clean, with a great view of Lake Michigan, especially from the second-floor balcony. But what made our visit really wonderful was our host, Terry, who went out of his way to show us some of the most beautiful local spots. On the day we were supposed to leave, he also brought over an air compressor and pumped a flat tire, which enabled us to not to miss our ferry home.
This house is at the southernmost reaches of the island--a half-hour drive from the only town. For some guests, that might prove to be an inconvenience. But for people who like quiet, nature, the peaceful sound of waves and vivid night skies, it's a wonderful place to stay.
