Yale at the base of Cottonwood Pass, at the end of a secluded driveway is your Retreat on Cottonwood Creek: a 2,500 square foot, 4 BR/2BA creekside refuge for the entire family, weary traveler, wandering explorer, or romantics-at-heart.

Your Retreat is comprised of one King bed in the upstairs over-sized Master Suite with sitting area, one Queen bed in the Tree House, two Twin beds on the upper floor and two Twin beds on the main floor, and two Roll-away beds; designer furnishings throughout, organic bedding and linens, three satellite HD flat-screen TVs with DVD/CD players (one in LR, one in FR, and one in Master Suite), free high-speed wireless internet service, an ultra-private separate Tree House, outdoor hot tub, outdoor stainless steel grill, creek side picnic table, 500' of private creek frontage, private fishing, large patio with outdoor furniture, balcony and lanai, outdoor fire pit; not in a subdivision, no views of any roads, unobstructed views of creek and mountains, four miles to Buena Vista and one-half mile to a hot springs/spa.

There are a multitude of activities to enjoy in the area: fish privately right out the front door, hike the Continental Divide Trail or Colorado Trail, summit a 14er, explore old mining towns or uncover gemstones via ATV and Jeep trails in the Jeep Capitol of the World, white-water raft or kayak the world-renowned Arkansas River, take a horseback ride through the woods, or soak in the nearby hot springs, and more! Restaurants, post office, playgrounds, grocery store, gas, and convenience stores all within five miles of your Retreat!

We enjoy rafting, soaking in hot springs, jeeping, ATVing, hiking 14ers, exploring new places, and secluded relaxation so having a property near Buena Vista in this private, creek side location allows us to fully enjoy all of these activities.

What makes this house unique

As soon as we drove down the private, secluded driveway, we knew this was the place: creek side, quiet, acreage, awesome views of the surrounding mountains, no views of any roads, not in a subdivision, cozy but roomy interior, and the feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere even though we were less than 10 minutes from BV. Especially nice is watching the deer and herons move through the property and the soothing sounds of the creek as you are dozing off to sleep.

The place worked great for us!

I stayed here for spring break with my husband and four kids. The setup for us worked very well. The cabin is super private and had plenty of space for us to spread out and have fun. The location was perfect for enjoying outings to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and Stables, Leadville, and walks on the trails by the river. Jean did an excellent job making the cabin warm and inviting with everything we needed for a great stay!

This is a great house with a good layout. Lots of room. Nice outdoor views. Will book again!

The owner is wonderfully accommodating. We had to change the number of guests several times. The house has lots of room! We had 6 adults and 7 kids and were not tripping over each other. We turned the back living area into a night time movie theater for the kids. The kitchen is well stocked with lots of dishes and silverware. The beds were all comfortable and the treehouse was warm. The hot tub was great and we used the outdoor fire pit! We were going to grill but the propane was low, one text and the owner had someone bring a new one out!! There are lots of towels, blankets and pillows. There are even travel size shampoos, conditioners, lotions AND sunblock! She has thought of everything!!! We went over the total allowed persons, but I was upfront and honest about it and the owner understood and made an allowance. How often does THAT happen? The roads were dry, but as soon as we pulled down on the driveway it was snow covered and the bubbling brook! Amazingly relaxing! Will book again next year. We did go to the springs a mile up the road but they seemed a little "ghetto" but I think they are new. We went to Mt. Princeton and they were much nicer for the same price (20 minute drive). Monarch was 45 minutes. BV was definitely less touristy then salida which was nice. Eddyline pizza was great!

Nice home on a creek

Very nice place to stay. Plenty of room for everyone -- but note there are two rollaway beds and one trundle bed. Some of us ended up on the couch instead. Not a big deal, just make sure you read the description carefully!

Jean is a very good host. We will book again if we're back in the area.

Great girls' get away home

This is a well kept, good sized, pet & baby friendly, private home in a beautiful location. Located in the woods with a rushing stream nearby, also close to Buena Vista and hot springs. Owner was very responsive to a couple issues we had operating things in the home and fair with adjusting rate when fewer people were able to be there.
