Circa 1913, the Birch house is lovingly updated yet filled with charm and heritage. Steps away from historic downtown Flagstaff, Thorpe park, Wheeler park, Lowell Observatory, and the train station……it doesn’t get any more convenient that our little mountain home. Walk downtown with your friends and family. Wander over to Thorpe park and it's abundant trails, tennis courts, disc golf and softball fields. Jump on the Flagstaff Urban Trail and explore our community. Festivals at Wheeler Park, Downtown and NAU are an easy walk from the Birch House. Stay for a skiing vacation, the winter wonderland of Flagstaff is at your door step.
We are the Brooks family raising our family in a community we love.
James Brooks purchased this house in 2012
The downtown area has always had a charm that was irresistible.
Walking distance to downtown, far enough to be quiet in the busy season, yet close enough to walk to dinner or downtown events.
Clean property and it's always best to stay in town. It has a lot of space for the foot print of the home. We will be back!
Our stay at the Birch house during the Christmas holidays was magical - not to mention the hidden "Narnia" room which our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed. Floor plan made it easy for our extended family to spread out and enjoy their own space. We all had fun cooking pancakes one morning in the bright spacious kitchen. Very quiet location with easy access to our many destinations, including walks downtown. We highly recommend the Birch House. Thank you James for going above and beyond to accommodate us!
We stayed at Birch house with our three children and parents (7 in total.) While The home was small is square footage, it was arranged so nicely that we all had our own space and it felt super comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed with nice cooking equipment down to a Kuerig (sp?) coffee maker with coffee and hot chocolate pods.
The downstairs bathroom was newly remodeled and even had heated floors. What a treat!
The back yard had a lovely patio table and tree fort. The owner had fresh herbs growing for guests to enjoy. Sadly our visit was a little late in the season for the herbs. The kids enjoyed tossing a nerf ball in the back yard and had easy access to a bike path just down the street. We were so close to town that we were easily able to take walks downtown.
Narnia . . . I am smitten. It is a room that every child dreams of having or visiting when they are young. Our children couldn't get over this awesome space. Even our 12 y.o. son was reluctant to leave the room. So cozy and magical!
We loved our stay and highly recommend it to all of you who have ever dreamed of fantastical places!
House is very comfortable - a home away from home. It's perfect for families. We were a family of 5 adults. The bedrooms upstairs are such that you have to go through one room to get to another if you are using the single bedroom at the top of the stairs. For families this is fine but not the most private of arrangements otherwise. We had no complaints. Although in a neighborhood, the back yard is a wonderful private oasis and we spent several of our afternoons at the patio table. The location is great, in that you can walk everywhere and down the street (only blocks away) was a great day spa-"Spatique" that my daughter and I enjoyed one day. We also went to the Lowell Observatory which is around the corner and up the hill for a night walk and tour of the stars/constellations and the stories behind them (really great!). Went to the North rim of the Grand Canyon-a bit of a drive but so worth it. Took the ski lift up to the snow bowl (lift ride was about a half hour each way) with a beautiful view of the Aspens changing color. Went to First Friday downtown for music, art and food. Went to Sedona and Oak Creek canyon (about 30-45 minutes away) both worth the trip. Flagstaff and this house really had it all. While many good places to eat downtown, we cooked in several times and found that the house had everything we needed to make meals. Including a grill. Would definitely come back to this home in the future.
The house is terrific! We've stayed two consecutive years and look forward to more. Location perfect in Flag. The Hosts pleasant and very responsive.
This house is perfect for walking to and from down town flagstaff. 5 adults stayed here fairly comfortably for two nights while we checked out the Grand Canyon. The house itself is cozy and eclectic. We especially enjoyed the heated floors in the downstairs bathroom, great touch!
