The first time we walked into our second home we were almost knocked over by the breathtaking view. We now want to share that with you. Our one bedroom villa is located in the Ocean Villas complex on the ground s of the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar. A short 25 minute drive from SJU airport, this villa has everything needed to get a full service vacation away from the hustle of the city.
Located on 500 acres, the Wyndham Grand Resort boasts: two championship golf courses, a full service tennis center, 5 restaurants, a four star hotel, a mile of private beach, manicured grounds, a casino, miles of trail for hiking and running, and hundreds of iguanas. With 24 hour a day security, resort is a haven for families, couples, and those looking for a home base to explore La Isla Encanta. The Ocean Villas complex is the closest to the beach on the grounds of the resort- about fifty yards away from the buildings. With a grand lobby and impressive fountain, the complex definitely imparts a Spanish flavor.
The Villa is a cozy one bedroom, one bath unit with approximately 900 square feet of living space. Wake up in the breezy bedroom to a view of palm trees and the sun rising over the Atlantic Ocean. The modest bathroom has two sinks and a full shower/tub. The galley kitchen has a full sized refrigerator, a full sized oven/stove, a sink, a reverse osmosis water filter, a Vitamix Blender, a Nespresso Coffeys maker and a dishwasher - along with all utensils and cookware and service ware. Enjoy your coffee or breakfast from our bar height dining room table while you gaze at the morning light. The living area is a great open space with a sleeper sofa, a futon, and an HD TV with over 100 channels from which to choose. Step out onto the balcony, our favorite place in our villa, and lounge on the sofa while watching the pelicans dive for their breakfast or lunch. The infinity pool and palm trees are the only features separating you and the sandy beach. Relaxation with an ocean breeze.
If the beach and the resort get stale, explore the area. A fifteen minute drive from the villa is El Yunque - the rainforest designated as a National Park. Climb waterfalls, hike trails, and maybe even encounter some parrots. If you are feeling really adventurous, try a zipline for a bird's eye view of the forest. If the forest is not your thing, surfing is always an option. There are several options available at La Pared beach in Luquillo. Wanting a more laid back day on the water? There are several outfits in Fajardo, about twenty minutes away that offer day trips to Icacos island for snorkeling and swimming. Looking for more history? Try Old San Juan. Known for its blue cobblestone streets, vibrant colors, and Spanish architecture, Old San Juan makes for a great day trip. Check out El Morro, the fortress built in Spanish colonial times. Make sure to get a picture in one of the fort's iconic lookouts hundreds of feet above the beach below. A great trip for a rainy day is to the Bacardi Distillery in San Juan. Learn about the history of rum making in Puerto Rico and enjoy a drink at the end of the tour.
