Key Colony Beach Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, 4 Sleeps

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath unit opens up to 1300 Sq Ft of Indoor Outdoor living area with 37.5' of protected dockage with views of the water on one side and the Key Colony Municipal Golf Course across the street. A total renovation brings new life to this property. From the moment you enter the screen porch you will know you are in for a treat. The outdoor living area of the screen porch flows directly into the home through the double pane French Doors in the living area or the entry door. The porch has a full size outdoor couch and two 'chair and a half' loungers with ottomans. A new elevated composite trek deck flows directly into the house and out to the back yard creating a transition deck area before you step down to the patio and the tiki hut waterside. A bamboo privacy screening on the porch gives the feel of a tropical outside retreat. Just steps through the new double French Doors and you are in the newly remodeled living and kitchen area. The living and kitchen areas are defined only by the new tile topped kitchen island and the area flows out to the porch or through the back sliding glass doors to the deck, patio and dock. The tiki is another great spot to relax under cover and enjoy the waterviews or critique the fisherman on their return from a day on the water.

The master bedroom will charm you, a king size bed, flat screen TV and soft, warm colors will sooth and relax your whether you are preparing for a nights rest or an afternoon nap. The new master bath has a spacious walk in marble tile shower with a built in seat and framless glass doors.

The guest bedroom has two twin beds that can be converted into a king size bed, ideal for two couples. The new hall bath is just steps away and has a tiled shower and granite topped vanity.

A boarding ladder is on the dock for boat access or swimming in the canal. Fish cleaning table is also dockside and just above the underwater lights so our resident fish get a piece of your good day fishing too! One of the most exotic features of Rock Lobster Bungalow is the outdoor lighting system that is automatically turned on by dusk to dawn timers. The entire patio, deck, dock and tiki hut is lit up with a soothing, warm rope illumination that is similar to what you would experience on the patio of an outdoor restaurant. Perfect for dining and after dinner drinks while looking at an amazing star filled southern sky. We have also setup one of old Florida's classic games in the Tiki Hut...The Ring Toss. There are two ropes so that multiple people and teams can play. Another lighting feature is the underwater light located under the dock. You will be amazed at how different types of fish are gathered around this light in the evening. If you have been to the keys before you have seen places that feed the fish regularly and it produces a host of different fish who become 'residents'. We encourage you to put some chum or bait in the bags near the light as our resident Mangrove Snapper, Mullet, Jacks, Snook, Tarpon, Sting Rays, Lookdowns, Barracuda and Baitfish have been used to this and we like to keep them around! About Brian

I am originally from New York and have lived in Florida since 1992. I currently reside in Boynton Beach. In the 90's most of My career was in Sales and Marketing. After many years as a restaurateur I thought this would be another service business that would really fit my lifestyle as it includes frequent travel to the most beautiful place in Florida...The Keys!

Brian purchased this bungalow in 2012

Why Brian chose Central Florida Keys

After looking at hundreds of canalfront properties in the marathon area I found that this particular location had the most amount of important amenities for the price. With 37ft of dock space, open views to a golf course (where do you find that in the keys?), walking distance to everything and your own police force that keeps the neighborhood secure, it was far and away the best place to be in the area.

What makes this bungalow unique

I wanted to create a tropical bungalow setting with an edge. To me, coming back from diving/fishing/swiming and relaxing under a Tiki Hut without having to drag all my gear back to a hotel room or car was the ultimate experience. In my many years of coming to the Keys I found that very few properties had that feeling that the inside and outside were connected. I built the porch deck and front deck around the living room to give that open air feeling that the Keys are all about. I am a USCG Licensed 50 ton captain and spend much of my spare time on or underwater so many of the features you will see here make life on the water even more enjoyable.

Another Amazing Stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our fourth stay at Rock Lobster and it's still amazing! As always, the property is clean, inviting and well-stocked with anything you might need for a comfortable stay! We were treated to beautiful sunsets under the tiki hut & at Sunset Beach; we loved getting to walk to our favorite watering hole, Sparky's and of course, the wonderful weather didn't hurt! The underwater lights drew a crowd including rays, an actual 'rock lobster' and a nurse shark! We even received visits from several families of manatees! A first for us here!

We look forward to many more years of blissful, relaxation!

Exceeds Expectations

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Rock Lobster and we loved it. We especially enjoyed the lighted canal which gives you a good view of what is swimming by including nurse sharks, barricuda, sargent majors, spotted eagle rays, tarpon and many, more. Every night the show would change We used the gas grill to cook lobsters and Key West pinks that are fresh from the ocean and succulent. Rock Lobster is beautifully decorated, comfortable and offers everything you need for an unforgettable vacation.

Third time still charming. This owner knows how to keep a place up! If you want a place that you can hang out all day and relax this is the one. My home away from home. No hotel feel here. You can settle in and feel like I own this place... for a week! It's wonderful all the pleasure you want on a vacation without the worry.

Thank you for having the vision!

The Rock Lobster is AWESOME

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time back to this property, and we will be booking again for another fall trip. We love this place, it has become our home away from home. Very, very well maintained, and the attention to detail is just awesome. The house is amazingly decorated. And you get a wonderful breeze having the golf course across the street. I always enjoy hanging out on the screened in porch after a day of activities or fishing.

The underwater lights on the dock make for such a cool show. This year we saw a lobster, lots of mangrove snapper, and even a nurse shark hiding next to the dock which we were able to feed! Having the folding bikes are great to ride around the island. There really is NO place in the keys better than Key Colony Beach, It has everything you need at your fingertips, great restaurants, bars, and even a bait shop. We have found our slice of heaven and do not plan on staying anywhere else.

This home is fantastic, I would highly recommend it.

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time to the keys and had no idea what we we in for. Rock Lobster was great. It was the perfect size for my and my husband and the location couldn't have been better. It was so nice to have our boat right outside our back door and to be able to be in the ocean or the gulf in about 5 minutes. This is a great place to stay and is centrally located in the keys.

Yearly Getaway

  • 5 of 5

this was our second year at rock lobster as we booked the time again last year because this property was taken care of, clean and professionally maintained. We were pleasantly surprised at the new upgrades when we arrived...the tiki hut got a new oscillating fan that not only cooled us off but kept the bugs off as well, simple but very nice touch. We also got to enjoy a clearly upgraded underwater light system that illuminated the entire waterfront...what a show! Fish, stingrays and Crabs. We love this place so much booked it again for next year. Brian takes excellent care in maintaining this property. If you haven't booked Rock Lobster for your next vacation. Do it now!!!

Notes:
This property is lush with trees and tropical palms, very private landscape features separate next door. The tiki thatch decorated awning is designed to allow views of the canal while blocking the sight of homes and people across the street while your inside the home. Also unique and convenient is the open view across the street. Your view that direction is of the wide open golf course, not driveways, cars and homes. This is not only a visually unique feature for a canal front home in the keys but also allows for fresh breezes to flow through the property wheras most canal front homes are blocked on both sides, thus giving a feel similar to that of an oceanfront property.
