About Amy Pereira

I'm a designer by profession who's turned my passion for beautiful spaces into a new adventure in inn keeping!

In my lifetime I've renovated 5 of my own homes (not counting the ridiculous number of times I rearranged the living room furniture of my childhood home...and drove my mother batty!)

My design business brought me into people's homes right before they were ready to sell. I should rephrase that: they weren't really ready to sell and that was why I was there! Turning around spaces is my specialty.

I also work REALLY hard at my other job: being a mom to 8-year-old boy-girl twins. We live in Grand Haven 5 blocks from the cottage so that makes providing concierge-level service for my guests so easy!

Amy Pereira purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Amy Pereira chose Western Michigan

In January 2012, I purchased this Historic home in downtown Grand Haven, inheriting 2 lovely tenants. In the Spring of 2012, I made a go of converting one of my rental units into a weekly summer cottage and had a surprisingly successful 1st season.

The location is what makes this cottage shine. Nestled on a shady street just a block from the downtown business district, this residential street boast the proximity and privacy you'd look for when purchasing your own home.

Steps from all the great things Grand Haven has to offer and a pleasant walk to the beach (or even more convenient take The Beach-Town Trolly). If you were to stay in a beach property, you are convenient to one thing: the beach. But in Grand Haven that takes you away from all the other activities you need access to many times a day like restaurants, shops, ice cream, and other downtown attractions. When you choose a property like ours that's set away from the beach you avoid the crowds and the noise. I bought this cottage because I live in this neighborhood and I know the amenities it has to offer for families and couples alike! It's the best of both worlds; easy accessibility to the beach when you want it and excellent proximity to where all the other activities happen in Grand Haven.

What makes this cottage unique

I LOVE being an ambassador of our little town. I'm here to help you find your best vacation EVER! All my guests rave about the care I've taken to make a great location come alive with charm, conveniences and small luxuries. We added a vine-enclosed courtyard in the Fall of 2012, creating a place to BBQ, dine outdoors and cozy-up to a generous fire pit. What started as a humble year-round unfurnished rental has become Suite Retreat-great amenities, great attention to detail, great value.

This summer we will offer two beautifully designed suites decked out with all the amenities. This is a place where you simply pack a suitcase of your clothes leaving loads of EMPTY SPACE in your car because I've outfitted the cottage suites with everything you'll need to enjoy all that Grand Haven has to offer. Beach gear, games, toys, kitchen staples & condiments and even basic toiletries make this a SUITE RETREAT. I pride myself on providing a concierge-level of service with good value for money.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is so beautiful! I love the beach theme. This actually is the first time I've seen snow like this and I love it. I am hoping to come visit again here at Suite Retreat!! I love the little tags you've put around the place, it's so cute! I've had an amazing time here! Thank you!

Fantastic Grand Haven Get Away

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at several VRBOs and this was one of the best appointed homes we have seen. The location is great, just a short walk to downtown and a slightly longer walk to the farm market.

The kitchen is very nice and the beds are far nicer than what you typically find in a rental. The back yard and fire pit are lovely. The rental includes two bikes, which we used, but if you are very tall, the men's bike might be a bit small.

Wonderful Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year staying at Suite Retreat, and both years we rented both the upper and lower units. My husband and I and our children would stay in one unit, and my in-laws would stay in the other unit. If vacationing with another family I would highly recommend this rental, as you are able to share the outdoor areas together, visit in each other's units, etc., but have the luxury of two separate units each with their own kitchen, laundry, and bathroom. Amy has always been extremely helpful and has gone to great lengths to provide so many "extras" to make packing easier for renters. We have small children and were so surprised to find that she had a double stroller, pack and play, and high chair available for our use. We also love that there was a bike trailer to use, as well as all the toys and games. Something we especially enjoyed about the upper unit was the sun deck on the side of the house. It was nice to be able to have our kids play outside on the deck (no stairs) while we would get meals ready and we could leave the door open to keep an eye on them. We're planning to return again and would highly recommend to others!

Grand Haven 4th

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on June 29th to find a very well equipped unit and were able to immediately enjoy all that Grand Haven has to offer! The information provided about the area by Amy was so valuable. Our grandchildren enjoyed not only the beautiful beaches but also tennis, a wonderful playground, swimming at the Y, bavarian pretzels at the Bakers Wife, ice cream at the Pump Room and biking the city of Grand Haven. It was also close enough to enjoy the Mac Woods dune rides in Mears(approx 1/2 hr distance from the unit). A really great holiday week with the finest fireworks accompanied by the musical fountains on July 4th!! The fountains accompanied by the fireworks is a must see in Grand Haven!

Thank you Amy!

Yours in Family, Patriotism and Relaxation,

Yea Michigan!

Has it all!

  • 5 of 5

My daughter, son-in-law and I stayed here for a week and loved the location, the amenities, and the town. It is very clean, carefully and tastefully decorated, and lacks nothing. In a closet is anything you might need for a day at the beach. Cleaning supplies, bicycles, cooking utensils, baking ingredients, spices, you name it. We loved kayaking and paddleboarding on the Grand River. Thanks Amy! Hope to be back again next summer.

Beautiful-great location

The house was beautiful. The decor was very welcoming and relaxing. Extremely close to downtown shopping/dining and the boardwalk. The patio is very quiet and comfortable. Great place will recommend to others.
