About Amy Pereira

I'm a designer by profession who's turned my passion for beautiful spaces into a new adventure in inn keeping!

In my lifetime I've renovated 5 of my own homes (not counting the ridiculous number of times I rearranged the living room furniture of my childhood home...and drove my mother batty!)

My design business brought me into people's homes right before they were ready to sell. I should rephrase that: they weren't really ready to sell and that was why I was there! Turning around spaces is my specialty.

I also work REALLY hard at my other job: being a mom to 8-year-old boy-girl twins. We live in Grand Haven 5 blocks from the cottage so that makes providing concierge-level service for my guests so easy!

Amy Pereira purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Amy Pereira chose Grand Haven

In January 2012, I purchased this Historic home in downtown Grand Haven, inheriting 2 lovely tenants. In the Spring of 2012, I made a go of converting one of my rental units into a weekly summer cottage and had a surprisingly successful 1st season.

The location is what makes this cottage shine. Nestled on a shady street just a block from the downtown business district, this residential street boast the proximity and privacy you'd look for when purchasing your own home.

Steps from all the great things Grand Haven has to offer and a pleasant walk to the beach (or even more convenient take The Beach-Town Trolly). If you were to stay in a beach property, you are convenient to one thing: the beach. But in Grand Haven that takes you away from all the other activities you need access to many times a day like restaurants, shops, ice cream, and other downtown attractions. When you choose a property like ours that's set away from the beach you avoid the crowds and the noise. I bought this cottage because I live in this neighborhood and I know the amenities it has to offer for families and couples alike! It's the best of both worlds; easy accessibility to the beach when you want it and excellent proximity to where all the other activities happen in Grand Haven.

What makes this cottage unique

I LOVE being an ambassador of our little town. I'm here to help you find your best vacation EVER! All my guests rave about the care I've taken to make a great location come alive with charm, conveniences and small luxuries. We added a vine-enclosed courtyard in the Fall of 2012, creating a place to BBQ, dine outdoors and cozy-up to a generous fire pit. What started as a humble year-round unfurnished rental has become Suite Retreat-great amenities, great attention to detail, great value.

This summer we will offer two beautifully designed suites decked out with all the amenities. This is a place where you simply pack a suitcase of your clothes leaving loads of EMPTY SPACE in your car because I've outfitted the cottage suites with everything you'll need to enjoy all that Grand Haven has to offer. Beach gear, games, toys, kitchen staples & condiments and even basic toiletries make this a SUITE RETREAT. I pride myself on providing a concierge-level of service with good value for money.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is so beautiful! I love the beach theme. This actually is the first time I've seen snow like this and I love it. I am hoping to come visit again here at Suite Retreat!! I love the little tags you've put around the place, it's so cute! I've had an amazing time here! Thank you!

Love the outdoor porches!

  • 4 of 5

The location of this house is ideal- just a short walk to downtown. Especially enjoyed the outdoor space with plenty of room to play, eat, and sit around the fire pit. Took advantage of provided board games on a rainy day and the stroller for longer walks with the kids. Amy even dropped off extra wood for the fire pit. Very enjoyable week!

4th year staying here.

  • 5 of 5

I'm originally from Grand Haven and it is always nice to come home. This is our 4th year staying at the Suite Retreat on Clinton. It works perfectly for us. We need 4 bedrooms for ourselves and our 3 sons. We love to cook and entertain so the 2 kitchens is a plus. The location, is great. We can walk a block to get coffee at the Armory in the morning, 2 blocks to get the newspaper at Hostetlers, 3 blocks to the Dee Lite for breakfast, 2 blocks to get cute T shrits, sweatshirts from Maruska, the famous silk screening shop. The location is the best. Amy, the owner is very responsive to needs, if you have any. The very large patio is the best part of the house. The fire pit was used for making smores. We ate outside every single night we were home and had coffee there in the morning. Plenty of parking for family that came over. The upstiars unit is much brighter than the lower level. Both units will probably need a few upgrades soon, such as new better quality sheets and pillows. All in all, we love staying here and will probably come for years as our family grows. As I said, we rent both units every time so we don't have to share the grill or fire pit or patio.

Charming Downtown Cottage

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely place to stay for the winter holidays! We really enjoyed our stay in Amy's delightful cottage just steps from downtown Grand Haven. From Christmas shopping in the downtown village to restaurant options quick walk away, we had plenty to keep us occupied. Of course the home was warm and lovely for nights in as well!

Beautiful Stay for the Fall

  • 5 of 5

We so appreciated Amy's hospitality and care in her little cottage near downtown. This well supplied home was ready to go for us. Amy took extra care to make sure we had everything we needed to make this a perfect stay. Though she was starting to prepare for fall/winter, she checked to make sure all outdoor items we needed were available too. This was just the perfect location for walking around downtown and around the colorful and adorable surrounding neighborhood.

A visit of a LIFETIME!!!

  • 5 of 5

Little did I know I would be planning my Wedding at this lovely cottage! I booked the cottage almost a year ahead of time, and in that time my love interest proposed!!! I spent a beautiful 4 weeks at this wonderful, wooded retreat. While enjoying walking downtown, and listening to the musical fountain from our 2nd floor balcony each evening over wine, we got our wedding programs made, and finalized the flower arrangements.

It was truly the most memorable vacation of my life. We hope to have our anniversary there next summer!
