Cabin Palace in the Woods
The Hideaway was perfect and exactly what we wanted. The place is beautifully finished throughout -- oak and cherry paneling. The furniture was in good shape. It had just about everything a person could need to hole up in a private paradise. It's small, but mighty. It gets hot in Kentucky, so having both A/C and fans kept the place as comfortable as we could wish. There were plenty of towels provided. The tiny screen porch on the second floor was a delight, as was the dock by the lake. The wifi worked. But we didn't have any cell coverage there (AT&T). This was a problem all over Kentucky, not just at the cabin. The place was clean and well furnished. We even read one of the Kentucky novels provided in the bedroom.
Great guests, welcome back any time!!!
This was a cozy and well-appointed cabin in a beautiful setting. Absolutely loved our time there.
The cabin was so quaint and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the swimming and fishing in the lake. This is a great place to escape and get back to nautre!!!
Thanks Sarah! We think it's a pretty special place too. Come back and visit anytime!
Great place to relax.I would go back again.I would recommend it to anyone.Great privacy,
The Beautiful Little "Hideaway"
The property was right on the lake with personal dock, perfect for our kayak/fishing adventures. Best vacation EVER! We loved the cozy cabin. It was clean, quite, and the only neighbors we saw during our stay was a family of white tailed deer, a turkey, quail, and beautiful butterflies. We're definitely looking forward to our next opportunity to take vacation, and if given the chance would LOVE to stay at The Hideaway again.
Cozy cabin in the woods
My boyfriend and I wanted to get away from the craziness of city/work life and this was perfect. It's nicely tucked away in the woods - very quiet and cozy. It looks exactly how you see in the pics. You do have a neighbor next to you up on the hill but you can't see them at all and vice versa. We came in August so you can barely see the lake with all the trees but that was fine because it was beautiful. We saw some deer and turkeys. We were hoping to see a bear or bobcat but we didn't. :) We brought our paddle boards and paddled around the lake - it was so calm and pretty - rarely another person on the lake. The only bad thing I could say is that the water isn't clear at all so I wasn't comfortable getting in because you have no idea what's in there and going from the lake to the house and back up is challenging. The path is narrow, not cleared and steep (especially when carrying paddle boards back up). Luckily, we're younger so it wasn't too much of an issue but I could see elderly folks struggling for sure. We BBQed every day and sat out on the picnic table and ate and there were almost no mosquitoes even though it was evening. There are more spiders than anything. We rarely left the cabin; we especially enjoyed the screened-in balcony upstairs. It's perfect to read, chat, take in the scenery and listen to sounds of nature - especially at night! Our last night we had a thunderstorm and sat out there and watched/listened - it was incredible.
Overall, we loved it and plan to go back. It was exactly what we were looking for. The area is perfect, the people are nice and the house is a great place to relax and unwind.
Close to the Barren River State Park, the home of the Glasgow Highland Games. Driving distance to Mammoth Caves, Nashville, Louisville, Bowling Green, Lost River Cave, and so much more!
