About David Bosch

I grew up in eastern South Dakota and often vacationed in the Black Hills. Many of my friends have since settled here.

David Bosch purchased this house in 2001

Why David Bosch chose Black Hills

This is my retirement home. I come here several times a year to upgrade the property and just to share the relaxed atmosphere with family, friends and neighbors.

What makes this house unique

I always enjoy the quiet tranquility of this hillside setting, watching the wild turkeys on the deck and the deer who come down the mountain to get crabapples. And yet it is only one block from Main Street with access to all the attractions of downtown Deadwood. Very handy to be walking distance to town and avoid the hassles of finding a parking space! Close to skiing and snowmobiling. Makes a great setting for your next family gathering, business retreat or wedding reception!

Pros and Cons

  • 3 of 5

One of the pictures online shows 6 twins and also states it in the caption. However, there are only 4 and the top bunks are not sturdy. We did not even trust a suitcase up on them.

Also, the basement bedroom is not finished, so I don't consider that to be an acceptable "bedroom" for people to stay in.

Additionally, the only entrance to use for this property is at the very top of several flights of stairs, so it would not be a good option if that is an issue for you.

Other than these concerns, we loved the great location of the cabin and could easily walk to many things and not need to take the shuttle. We also loved the open kitchen, it was a great place for socializing. I also found the owner to be a very easy person to rent through, despite the cleaning list.

Owner's Response: Owner Comments: The bunk beds were built by a man well over six feet tall who weighed over 350 pounds so that he could sleep in them if needed, they are very sturdy. My son is 6'3" and around 250 pounds and has slept in those beds for years. The home owner is an engineer with multiple engineering degrees and over 40 years of experience in both designing and hands on building. THE BUNK BEDS ARE VERY SAFE. We did remove one set due to children jumping from bed to bed, which could be hazardous. As of late 2015, the ground level bedroom was finished.
