The apartment is on the first floor of Victorian Townhouse,English Basement, beautiful street, large bedroom storage space, fully furnished, wireless internet service, washer dryer, TV with cable. The location is truly the best in DC, close to Dupont metro (5blks), restaurants, Embassies, museums neighborhood coffee shops,,art galleries, farmers market on Sunday and walking distance to all the attractions of DC. The Victorian townhouse is located on a green tree lined , quiet, residential street, yet in the middle of the action, a car is not necessary. Many consider the street to be one of the most lovely in Dupont. Spring is enchanting during the cherry blossom season.
Have lived abroad in Europe, India and South America, fluent in Spanish and Italian. Love living in DC, happy to share my favorite places.
Beautiful neighborhood, historical townhouse, The location is quiet , green and residential, yet in the heart of DC, within walking distance to all that DC has to offer. The location is the most sought after area in DC for rentals.
Rather than staying in a large apartment building or hotel, travelers can experience living in DC as part of a neighborhood, feel less as tourists..
I stayed here for 3 months while in the city for an internship. The location was perfect, 10 minute walk from Metro, 5 minute walk to the grocery store, and close to Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, and Adams Morgan neighborhoods. The internet worked fine my entire stay; however, the signal doesn't quite reach to the furthest side of the bedroom. Anamaria was a great hostess and answered all of my questions within a couple of hours.
I would definitely recommend staying here if you want to feel like a local and experience DC in that way.
Pretty apartment, room temperature, bed, and bedding for perfect for me. The shower had good pressure and nice hot water. Anamaria was very nice.
I rented this basement apartment for my parents’ stay. We do not recommend that you rent this property: 1) the owner did not adequately address the various issues that arose throughout the three months 2) the internet did not work for days at a time, and the owner did very little to provide a solution 3) the apartment was not ready for our stay. Here is a brief overview of what happened.
The day we checked in, there was no internet. We told the owner right away. It took her a week to get a technician from Comcast to come and diagnose. The technician got the internet to work, but a few weeks later we had the same issue. Long story short, over the course of three months, my parents didn’t have internet for about 2 weeks altogether; Comcast people came three times. There was no internet for the last two nights of my parents’ stay. Despite all of these issues, the owner did not try to provide an alternative solution although I asked on multiple occasions, did not even apologize, and what’s even worse, she acted as if we were making this up and as if we were inconveniencing her. She blamed us for the fact that her internet is unreliable, and implied that we did not know how to use it, or that it was really our laptops' fault, not her internet.
The day we checked in there were several ceiling lights that were out. I asked the owner to replace them. She said her handyman would come, but never did. There was an old bottle of coke abandoned in the fridge. There was a broom, but not a dust pan. No extra toilet paper, no hand soap, no dishwasher detergent, no trash bags, no cleaning supplies… In addition, even though it was November, there were two window A/C units which created serious drafty currents from the open windows. I asked the owner to take them down so that we reduce the currents and conserve heat - no response. We had to remove them ourselves. The apartment wasn’t ready for guests and the owner was uncooperative.
At some point the owner offered a $100 refund for the internet issues, but did not follow up. Even if she had, this would not have changed the fact that there was no real attempt to make my parents’ stay comfortable and make sure that something as basic as the internet is working. We did not appreciate the way we were treated, and the general unhelpful attitude of the owner. We did not appreciate all the hassle. And we certainly didn’t appreciate the lack of reliable internet.
This English basement apartment is in a great location for seeing everything in DC. It is perfect for a getaway for two! No car needed. Just a couple of blocks from the metro, and within walking distance to great restaurants. Anamaria was great to work with. I'd definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time in DC.
This is a basement apt. There are six steep steps, light is motion activated for last two steps. If this works for you this is quiet safe apt in a great neighborhood with easy convenient access to all DC sites via walking, metro, bus. Apt is clean and pleasant near good restaurants, Safeway and Whole Foods. Owner lives upstairs saw her once to obtain keys after a voicemail, text and sitting on the stairs for a bit. High walking score would be nice if needed neighborhood info was written down for renter's convenience.
We were very comfortable in this basement apartment for the week we were there. It consists of a front room, with tv and seating, a galley kitchen and a spacious bedroom with lots of closet space. The bathroom is big enough for one person but it worked for us. Anamaria is a great hostess. Easily reached via text, but she also lives onsite so she can be easily accessed in person too. Any difficulties we ran into (i.e. parking ... which can be a nightmare depending on the time of day) were attended to by Anamaria.
The pictures are extremely accurate and there were no surprises. The Wifi gives a strong signal anywhere in the apartment ... we had no difficulties with this. The A/C worked perfectly as did the appliances and the tv. I found the neighbourhood safe and friendly, although we didn't ever end up venturing out after dark.
The location is great ... especially if you're not wanting to rent a car. Metro is a 5 minute walk. Nearby restaurants include Ruth Chris' Steak House, pizza & sub shops, bagel places. Truly there's nothing you can't find within walking distance.
We were very pleased with our stay, especially given the price we paid compared to what neighbouring hotels were asking per night.
The apartment is first floor in Victorian townhouse, historical beautiful area. Located in the most sought after area of Dupont, close to Metro. Within a close walking distance is everything Washington has to offer, museums,Philips Gallery, White House,World Bank, State Dept, Embassy Row, best restaurants, museums, small outdoor cafe bars, farmers market(Sunday), whole foods, parks etc... Although in the middle of the action, the street is residential, green and quiet. Spring is enchanting, cherry blossoms in full bloom. Rather than stay in large apartment building or hotel, guest can enjoy living in an historical home and feel part of the neighborhood. The location is truly the best in DC. I also rent another one bedroom VRBO #420181, please have a look.
