About Gary Watson
I grew up in a small village in Bedfordshire called Maulden. I went to school in Bedford and on to University in Leicester. After a short spell training to be a Chartered Accountant I moved into recruitment in 1984. Whilst I found accountancy to be a little dry, by contrast I fell in love with the variety and people element in recruitment. I spent 24 years with two multi-national players before joining a boutique firm called Investigo in 2010. 3 years later I led an MBO and in 2018 we sold a majority stake to an overseas strategic partner. I have three wonderful children Alex, Charlie and Archie and am married to Michelle who keeps me on my toes. Life is rarely boring.
Gary Watson purchased this Villa in 2004
Why Gary Watson chose Mallemort
I had fallen in love with Provence having had holidays in the region for many years. I also enjoy playing golf so back in 2003 we had decided to look to buy a house. We had looked at several locations but when we discovered Pont Royal it put everything else in the shade. We could tell at the main entrance that we had arrived at something special. A friendly welcome was then followed by us driving slowly on the road bordering the 5th golf hole. The course was in magnificent condition and I couldn't help but envy the players as they strolled down the beautiful fairway. The decision then wasn't if we would buy but when we would buy. We picked out a lovely plot which was only a 10 minute stroll to the centre and to the golf club. A few years have now gone by and I still feel the same sense of excitement as we drive through the entrance. For us, it's a little glimpse of heaven...
What makes this Villa unique
The house is very peaceful. We have houses around us but we're not over-looked by anyone. You have choices on where to eat: inside at the dining table, outside on the terrace underneath the wisteria or down in the pool house. The days can be spent in and around the pool and if you fancy a snooze there's always the hammock on the terrace underneath the honey-suckle. Pre BBQ is always a good time to test your skill on the boules court.

We had a wonderful time staying here as a family. Everything was clean and the pool was warm and refreshing. The garden is lovely and we'll maintained as is the whole property. It was a delight to stay there.
We had a great time at Gary’s villa. The villa was in a safe location and an easy walk to local restaurants in the golf complex (if we wanted a lazy evening without getting in the car).
The villa was extremely well equipped.
Karen was also very helpful as the local co-ordinator. She was always available and was full of useful local information.
Thanks for a great stay!
Maggies introduction to France.
We have rented many holiday homes over the years and this one is up there with the best.
It suited all our needs. It was very thoughtfully equipped and appointed. All the children's equipment was really good and safe, thank you for the stair gate.
The home is obviously loved by the owners and is in really good condition, and thus it is as described very welcoming. The garden and pool are a bonus very relaxing, and set in the Pont Royale estate made us feel safe too.
None of us wanted to leave and we had tears from our 3 year old grand-daughter. We had a great holiday. We will definitely try to book again.
Lovely well kept villa with great facilities.
We stayed at this property for a week in September 2018. Throughout the booking process/ check-in we were in contact with Karen, who was very helpful and accommodating, answering any questions raised. She also arranged an early check-in for us.
The villa has been well maintained, and has a good range of facilities- we made full use of the BBQ/outdoor eating area and the boules pitch.
The Villa is well positioned to explore the different areas of Provence. Over the week we visited Gordes, Aix en Provence and Avignon all which were 30 minutes/1 hour drive, and found a lovely restaurant in Mallemort called Auberge du Vieux Village- well worth a trip.
The only issue we encountered was the amount of Mosquitoes around the pool and eating areas. I would encourage visitors to stock up on repellents etc, and for the owners to inform guests of this before visiting.
Overall, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay, and would recommend it to groups or families who want to explore Provence.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're delighted that you had such a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Having checked with Karen, the issue you raise about the mosquitoes this season is perfectly valid and she has confirmed that they have been much worse than usual. Nevertheless, we will stock up with Tropic ‘CINQ sur CINQ' repellant spray (in a black bottle available only in chemists) so that future rentals will be prepared.
Beautiful villa which felt like home straight away!
Would definitely recommend for a relaxing holiday in gorgeous Provence.
It was nice to meet Karen.
Thank you Philippa. I'm so pleased that you felt at home straight away. It was also very nice of you to mention our local agent Karen who is often the unsung hero. She is always on hand to advise and support and she does an excellent job.
Beautifully appointed villa with every home comfort!
We have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing holiday in Les Coquelicots, Pont Royal. The location is perfect for getting around the Luberon and all it's beautiful towns and villages.
We've been staying in villas in Provence for many years but this has to rank amongst one of the best in terms of comfort, facilities and style. The interior is spotless and beautifully furnished. We particularly appreciated the fabulously comfortable beds after a long day of sight-seeing. The outside is equally attractive with a choice of sitting areas overlooking the pretty garden and pool depending on whether you're looking for sun or shade.
The generous welcome pack was a nice touch which meant that we didn't have to rush out for supplies as soon as we arrived and the few queries that we had were answered efficiently by Karen, the property manager, who was very helpful.
The only thing we would have liked was a set of boules to make use of the area reserved for this in the garden but everything else was as near perfect as it could be and we would love to return at some point in the future.
Many thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
Thank you for the enthusiastic review. We're so pleased you enjoyed the region and the villa. Comfortable beds are a must for us and it's always reassuring when people notice. Sorry about the boules - they're actually in the garage so I will remember to ask Karen to get them out when you return again!
The sun shines for 300 days a year. The light is incredible - just ask Cezanne and Van Gogh! There are 3 fascinating and quite different cities within 60 minutes: Marseille, Avignon and Aix. The countryside is beautiful with the Luberon to the north, the Alpilles to the west, the Camargue to the south-west, the sea to the south and the Cote d'Azur to the south-east. Pont Royal is a special place: pretty, well-kept, clean, safe (one entrance with security), with an 18 hole championship golf course, tennis, swimming pools, shops and restaurants. There are plenty of local vineyards where the wine is surprisingly good. And plenty of fabulous villages to explore: Lourmarin, Roussillon, Menerbes, Lacoste, Gordes, Bonnieux and Curcoron - to name but a few. This is 'real' Provence.
