Big Disappointment in this "luxury" home
We are giving this home one star for the proximity to the beach, and one star for the location on the lagoon. This home can not even begin to call itself "luxury" ! The home is lacking basic things, much less luxury items. The main living areas are nice enough, and worked well for our group, but beyond that, the house was sparsely furnished, the beds were old, cheap and uncomfortable, the kitchen was barely equipped. We had 9 forks, a mini coffee pot that made 5 cups (house that sleeps 14) no salad bowl, no large pot, about 3 wine glasses, crappy frying pans, etc...I could go on. To the owners credit, he sent someone out promptly to get a list of basics that the house was missing after we called to complain. There were 6 bath towels in the house, no wash clothes or hand towels at all. They did buy us some, and also bought some more "beach chairs". There were 3 very cheap beach umbrellas and 2 were broken. The guest cottage was very poorly furnished --lacked lighting --the bed was horrible, and there wasn't one single item in the kitchen there. Ahh the bedding....cheap sheets throughout, thin blankets, and the king size rooms had a comforter that fit a single bed. The upstairs bedrooms were noisy because there are no rugs and the cheap beds creak every time you roll over, you can hear every move the person in the other room makes. There were no dressers in those rooms. The shared bathroom for the upstairs bedrooms has a large black whirlpool tub that was filthy when we arrived (we didn't bother to tell the owner) and the shower is located inside of this enormous tub, so you have to crawl in to take a shower...for older adults, this wasn't easy ! There was no stereo system in this "luxury" home...but to be fair, it isn't listed. The bar area does not have a sink --just so people realize this is a dry bar, not a wet bar. We have rented many, many vacation homes over the last 20 years and they have had their ups and downs, but I don't think I have ever stayed somewhere that was so cheaply stocked and so poorly furnished in the bedroom areas. When paying $$$ you expect a higher level of amenities. I mean, come on, put a little detergent out for the washing machine so people that fly in from out of town don't have to buy it . I don't know who wrote those 5 star reviews ! I based my decision on them. Maybe they were college age spring breakers that don't cook, and are use to sleeping in dorms. I have never written a negative review like this before
Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your first impression of our home didn't meet your expectations. We strive very hard to ensure we provide our guests with a comfortable stay and create a home-away-from-home experience.
Our homes are stocked with all the basic amenities, including fabric detergent, but given this was peak season, there unfortunately arises situations where things are misplaced or taken away from the home, or simply not replaced quickly enough due to the back-to-back bookings. Now that season's over, we've had a chance to restock the home with missing items and have replaced all the linens.
While you acknowledge that we addressed the majority of your issues immediately, it saddens me that you still call them out as if they were never addressed. It almost seems like you're making this personal for some reason. I can also assure you that the positive testimonials were written by our guests - families such as yourself and not by spring breakers alone.
Should you consider a vacation in Fort Lauderdale again, I'm hopeful you'd be willing to give us another chance to change your first impression.
Great house in a beautiful location!
We very much enjoyed the house and it's location. Andy was nice enough to allow us an early check-in, which was very much appreciated. The house was clean and there was plenty of room to hang out inside and out. The pool and the nature preserve behind the house were definitely the highlights. Very secluded. We had a ton of wildlife (turtles, lizards, birds, iguanas, etc.) come visit us each day, but no problem with mosquitoes (just some annoying gnats around dusk, but they quickly went away). We couldn't figure out the ice maker or the speakers by the bar, but it wasn't a big deal. Communication was great. We called the property manager because the pool wasn't heating properly and someone was sent over promptly to fix it. The beach is only a block away and restaurants, bars, stores, etc. are all very close. Overall, a great stay. Would definitely return! Thank you!
Best stay ever!
This home was the perfect house for my family and I. A block away from the beach, right on the natural reserve, and impeccable home. Andy was very responsive and gave us some great local tips. the house even had kayaks for to use! Thank you again, looking forward to our next stay!
Great House, Great Location!
My tennis team (group of 10 ladies) recently stayed here while in town for a championship tournament nearby. The house was the perfect size for us, and we loved the space the house afforded us. The house is just a short walk to the beach, and out the back door was Birch State Park. We could not have asked for a better location - so close to Las Olas Blvd., and tons of dining options. The owners were also very responsive and easy to work with!
Serene Tropical paradise
This sprawling estate Tropical home captivated us from the walk in. The spacious outdoor decks, pergolas, and outdoor pool surrounded with the Tropical beaut of birch state park. Only a 2 minute walk and we are in front of the ocean. This was an absolute blast and a definite trip for next year
Exceptional and unique
We've been coming to Ft Lauderdale for 30 years in the spring for a family reunion. This was our favorite house close to Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. The pool area is large and comfortable, but the most compelling aspect was the daily visits by great while egrets, immature ibis and a host of other birds, as well as large water turtles. The back yard is separated from the park by a waterway - it's entirely secluded and private, with an occasional kayak passing by. the mosquito mister worked perfectly - no bites. Walk out the front door and you're a few houses from the beach, which has been beautifully restored since the hurricane several years ago. The kitchen, living and dining spaces are great, as well as the guest house which allows for more privacy for large parties. Everyone from the twenty-somethings to the 101 year old grandmother loved it. Highly recommended. My only suggestion for improvement is to switch to 100% cotton sheets.
