Built in 2007, this spacious cabin has rustic/pine decor with a living room with a rock, wood burning fireplace and mountain views from the sofa, TV, full kitchen with all amenities, dining room that steps out to the gas grill, laundry room, family room with pool table, large wrap around deck with patio furniture overlooking the creek, rock path to sitting area next to the creek, open grassy area for children to play, volleyball, baseball, etc. The cabin is bordering Black Hills National Forest for unending adventure!
Within 25 minutes to Lead/Deadwood, Terry Peak or 15 minutes to Deerfield Lake for boating/fishing, or 22 miles to Hill City which is the gateway to Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, and Crazy Horse.
Central to all the pleasures of the Black Hills, this is a great place to unwind with the smell of the pines, whispering of the creek, and the peace that comes with 'getting away from it all'. Whether you are 4 wheeling, horseback riding, snowmobiling, biking, hiking, skiing, sledding, hunting, fishing, gold panning, rock hunting, caving, swimming, boating, or touring from the car, you can do it all from here! It is the perfect 'getaway from it all' retreat.
My wife and I were born and raised in SD. We have 3 children. We have loved visiting the Black Hills for many years with our family. We love outdoor activities and nature. We currently live in southeast SD, but take every chance to visit the Black Hills. It has been our dream to have a Black Hills cabin and are happy to share our piece of heaven with you.
Wes or Carrie Mentele purchased this cabin in 2012
The Rochford Area is truly beautiful and peaceful. We love to bike, snowmobile, hike, hunt, and ride ATV's and this location offers us all of these activities and more.
We fell in love with our cabin when we first saw it. We are able to listen to Rapid Creek run through our front yard and view the surrounding mountains of the Black Hills from our deck. The kids love sledding and playing on the 3 acres and the surrounding National Forest. There are several ATV trails close to the property. There is a nearby campground just a few miles down the road and there is direct access to the Black Hills snowmobile trail system there. Skiing is just 25 minutes up the road.
We just returned home from a 5 night stay in this Creekside Cabin. The pictures on the site don't convey the spaciousness of the beautiful interior. High ceilings in the family room, wood wall surfaces and solid interior doors speak of the time and attention given to the decor. The creek running through the property wasn't large (families with kids at least 7-8 shouldn't be overly concerned about watching every moment of outside play) and provided a relaxing background when sitting at the nearby picnic table. While it is centrally located and we were able to see all the places we wanted, allow some extra travel time as the roads by the home are very winded and speeds need to be reduced. Would stay again!
My family and I just spent the last 8 days at the Creekside Cabin. The cabin was spacious and the amenities were fantastic. There is a patio on three sides of the cabin so wildlife and scenery viewing is plentiful. It is just one mile from access to the Mickelson trail for hiking and biking. We had planned to spend our last two days in the Black Hills doing the tourist thing, but the kids, rightly so, voted unanimously to stay at the cabin and play in the spacious yard and the creek. What fun. Wes and Glenda were fantastic hosts and very easy to deal with. Could not be more pleased.
I spent the first three weeks in October at this wonderful cabin near Rochford, SD. The property exceeded my expectations. Roomy, cozy, comfortable and the perfect place to get away from it all without sacrificing amenities and comfort. Its central location allowed me to hike and bicycle over 100 miles then come home to cook or grill a wonderful meal. The creek side "patio" was perfect for afternoon reading and relaxing. It was a huge bonus to be so close to" the Mickelson trail and Rochford and the Moonshine Gulch. So much to do and see or just lay back on the living room couch and enjoy the "Deer Family" who visited almost every morning and evening. The owners have also arranged for a helpful and responsive nearby property manager. I can't imagine a better choice for Black Hills vacation. My wife and I can't wait to reserve another extended stay.
Absolutely beautiful! The pictures did not do the cabin or surroundings justice. The rooms were spacious, and the beds very comfortable. The seating area by the creek was a perfect addition, and a wonderful spot to read and enjoy nature. I brought 2 women with some physical limitations, and as there was only one step leading into the cabin, and none inside, they were able to get around with no problems.
I would advise renters to stop in Lead for groceries, as there is only a small store in Rochford, which closes at 5:00. We stopped at the local saloon, and they men sitting out on the front porch were very friendly and helpful.
We were able to get to all of the attractions on our Black Hills agenda.
I've already recommended Creekside Cabin to friends/family, and would love to stay again!
We had a great time on our family vacation, this was a perfect home to rent. I grew up going to this area and it was exactly how I remembered it, quite and beautiful. Great neighbors to help out if you needed. Thank you Wes & Carrie for renting out your cabin.
My family decided to spend Christmas together after the holidays and wanted to find a nice cabin to do so. This place was beautiful inside and out. It was a cold snowy drive but well worth it. We had plenty of spae and everything you could possibly need was available. We would have loved to stay even longer. Thank you so much Wes for allowing us to rent this. We look forward to coming back again someday.
The cabin is located in a scenic valley surrounded by mountains in the Black Hills National Forest. Rapid Creek winds through the property creating a peaceful atmosphere. Deadwood/Lead are just 25 minutes away via Hwy 85 and Rochford Road. We are located 2 miles from the Historic city of Rochford. The Michelson trail is less that .75 miles away, which gives you access to over a hundred miles of bike trails. Black Hills ATV trails are very close. Snowmobile trail access is within a few miles of the cabin. There are over 350 miles of groomed snowmobile trails throughout the Black Hills. There is great hunting opportunities for deer, elk, mountain lion, and turkey on surrounding Black Hills National Forest. Fishing is available directly from the private stream in the front yard.
