About John

Growing up in central Massachusetts, we've always enjoyed visiting Cape Cod. We hope this home can provide the same wonderful vacation memories to our guests that we've experienced ourselves.

John purchased this house in 2003

Why John chose Mashpee

We hope you enjoy this home and neighborhood as much as we do. We’ve been coming down to the cape for many years since we were kids. We always remember when driving to the Cape, how excited we were to see the bridge appear in the distance. Something magical seems to happen once you cross that bridge. There’s that unmistakable feeling that you’re arriving at a very special place filled with joy, relaxation and peacefulness.

We were very fortunate to have found this “best kept secret” of Cape Cod, known as South Cape Beach. This neighborhood has everything we were looking for. It’s a short walk to the beach. It’s a quiet family neighborhood secluded from the hustle and bustle of the traffic; yet it’s still convenient to all of the attractions. The wooded area surrounding this neighborhood is state-reserved land that will never be built on. Just a short walk away is both an ocean beach and a beach by the bay.

South Cape beach is one of the most beautiful ocean beaches on Cape Cod with a wonderful view of Martha’s Vineyard and many walking paths that take you through the natural surrounding habitat & various inlets. There is also a private neighborhood beach and boating dock on Little River Bay which joins Waquoit Bay.

This home was built in 2003 with the goal of accommodating gatherings of family and friends, both large and small. It was designed for Cape Cod summer living, with an open living-space that accommodates up to 16 people, yet cozy enough for smaller gatherings to feel right at home. The no-frills furnishings and amenities make the home as functional as possible while maintaining the quaintness of old Cape Cod.

There is so much to do here you will want to come back again and again just to experience it all. This home gives you the peace and serenity you need to relax on your vacation while at the same time you have access to all of the attractions whenever your ready for them.

We welcome you to Cedar Lodge At South Cape!

Great vacation home for family get-togethers

  • 5 of 5

My son was recently married in Falmouth and I wanted a vacation rental large enough to accommodate family members that were coming from out-of-state. We really enjoyed the open floor plan, the large driveway with plenty of parking, and the clean and spacious rooms. The location is private; away from the hub-bub of the Cape, but an easy drive or walk to the beach and not far from Falmouth and Mashpee. I highly recommend this rental.

Beautiful home and location for a family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My family and extended family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. Not only is it incredibly spacious but it was very conveniently located to the beaches and nearby harbor where we gathered for family pictures! The home was in immaculate condition upon our arrival and it was very easy to feel at home during our stay. We would not hesitate staying here again next year!

Best Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I look forward to staying at this house every year! We have made the best memories for our family and extended family! Each family has plenty of room and the location is prime for everything from crab fishing, bike riding, beach and hoping on the ferry to MV! The house itself if no summer cottage, it has everything you can ask for and more! We were so lucky to find this house years ago and we keep going back every year!! Can't wait until next year!

Outstanding Location and Clean House

  • 5 of 5

My extended family and I (ages 50+ to 18 months) have stayed at this home for a week in June for 5 years for our annual family "reunion". We have enjoyed the proximity to the beach (walking distance but we usually drive with kids) and to Mashpee Commons. It is on a quite street so I have no problem letting our kids play in the front yard.

The house is set up well. Plenty of beds for everyone. There is also a bonus room off the kitchen with a pull out couch. This is nice for the teenagers to hang out in to get away from the smaller kids. The house has always been clean and stocked with the necessities (pots/pans/utensils) in the kitchen. My family especially likes the big kitchen/dining area. Everyone can be in the area during meals and not feel cramped. There is also a deck outside to eat (although the time of year we go is quite buggy).

The owner, John, has always been accommodating and available at any time to answer questions. Overall, I would recommend this house to any large family or, like us, a few families coming in to vacation with each other.

Easter Weekend Rental

  • 5 of 5

The house was great and handled the 14 - 16 people nicely. Several areas for congregation helped to spread things out with a nice deck in addition. The area is lovely and the beach and playground area with a bocce pit is really nice. Everything was clean and in great shape. John was very helpful and even went out of his way to return some games we left behind. Thanks.

Owner's Response: Thanks Kathleen for your positive comments. We are glad you found the living space comfortable for your large group; and the bay-side playground and Bocce ball pit always seems to be a hit with the kids and adults alike. We hope to host you and your family for another visit sometime soon. Sincerely, John
