Outdated, poorly maintained. Owner out of touch with reality.
I am writing my honest review of this property. I have been renting out in the Hamptons for over 10 years and am very familiar with the homes and what to expect.
The living room, dining room and kitchen areas are nice. The grass area and spacious.
Upon check in, the only bathroom on the first level was backed up and smelled like there was a rotting animal inside. The garage had an even stronger stench (if you can imagine). Perhaps the owner had become immune to the rotten smell.
The bathrooms are very outdated with mold growing on the caddy holder (I have photos), that's why there are no photos here of any of the bathrooms. The water pressure in the guest bathroom is a 2/10. I was really surprised to find the outdated bathrooms from the 1980's because I asked the owner if they are updated and she said 2 bathrooms are. The tubs are clearly from 20+ years ago. The heater in the pool does not working and the water is ice cold. We could not use the pool. There are so many leaves/bugs in the pool so be ready to clean at least 5 times a day.
The TV in the living room has an issue with the baclit LED bulbs so the screen is so dark you can not see anything.
Out of the many homes I have rented throughout the years, I've never been more overwhelmed by the amount of large crickets, roaches, bugs and slugs in a yard in my life. In addition, the outdoor wicker seating was infested with ants.
Perhaps the owners don't use all of the areas of the home and are unaware of all of these issues but when I brought them up to the owner she replied "you didnt mention how great the spa is which is a big hit with the kids". At that point, I knew that I shouldn't reply because I'd be wasting my time and energy.
The overhead lights in the kitchen went out and I had to play handy man and go down to the basement to play with the fuse box.
In addition, I only received a partial refund out of my full deposit back because the owner charged me for having a plumber come out to take a look at the backed up toilet amongst other random made up things.
We leave homes spotless and did the same here except maybe we returned it in better condition than it was given to us in.
Home is Up to Date, in Excellent Condition, Renter is Untruthful
By coincidence, we have been renting our home in East Hampton for over15 years and this is our first ever negative review.
When Renter checked-in on FRIDAY, July 13, the house was spotless, the toilet was NOT backed up, and the garage was completely clean and odorless. When we returned we found smelly liquid seepage in the garage from garbage bags that had not been properly placed in the trash container by Renter.
Renter emailed us early SUNDAY, July 15, stating that the toilet was blocked. Apparently the blockage occurred on SATURDAY. We were in England, but promptly solicited plumbers in East Hampton who said they would try to help on Monday. Our housekeeper arrived early MONDAY, July 16, found the fouled toilet and promptly and easily cleared the blockage. Apparently Renter had neither flushed the toilet on SATURDAY (why?) or attempted to clear it with the plunger in the maids closet. Blockage was unflushed feces!
There is NO mold in any bathroom. Master bath was updated 4 years ago. Water pressure is excellent.
The pool heater is maintained by the top firm in the Hamptons, the pool water was at least 85 degrees and could be raised by Renter and Renter burned over 400 gallons of propane during stay.
If the living room TV display was darker than Renter preferred, there are THREE other flat screen TV's to watch in the Master Bedroom, North Wing Den and the Kitchen.
We have never seen a roach on our property, The house is located on two acres in a White Pine Forest and there are insects in the forest. You might see them.
Renters issue with the kitchen lights going out was caused by a tripped circuit breaker. (We haven't called them fuse boxes since the 30's). A possible cause was Renter removing the top panel of the refrigerator and unscrewing four light bulbs in order to observe the "Sabbath". Renter damaged one of the light fixtures in the process and did not return the refrigerator to it's original condition, triggering a costly repair call.
Renter pulled a towel holder completely from the bathroom wall, broke a pleated window shade by pulling the opening cords so hard that the cord cap came off and could not be repaired. The plumbers only came because Renter did not advise us that the maid had cleared the block so we could cancel their service calls.
Renter did not leave home spotless, dirty platters and food stained paper plates were found in the kitchen and outdoors.
The home is beautiful and the location is the best!! The owners really take pride in their property.
Loved being 5 minutes from both East Hampton and Sag Harbor.
