We first came to Franklin four years ago and fell in love with the area. When this cabin came for sale we jumped at the chance to buy it. We live and work in central Florida but drive up to the Archar Lair as much as possible and hope to move here as soon as possible.
Ted Schropp purchased this cabin in 2012
Group of 12 guys riding motorcycles stayed at Ted's place. No issues going up and down the mountain to the cabin w the mc's. Plenty of room for all of us to have our own sleeping areas; bed, futon and couch. The game room and back porch kept us busy on our rain day. The manager was awaiting our arrival and was very accommodating, friendly and attentive to any needs we may have needed. We will definitely recommend and return for future trips. Tks, The Motor Duck Run Crew!!!
I would have given a 5 star if the condition of the road had been described better. My bother road his Honda Goldwing 1800 and barely, really barely made it up the almost entirely unpaved scary mountain road. He would not ride it down, we just so happened to have a trailer to get it down. Cars made it just fine, except for the one pulling the trailer for the motorcycle it did slip a couple of times. I am not mad about the road, I am upset that description and picture say and show "newly paved road" , it has a couple of small sections that are paved.
Now the cabin (home), It was wonderful!!!!!! Huge deck with gates, fantastic space, fun basement with fun games. The home is well stocked and was clean. Beautiful!!! My only complaint would be sitting, especially the kitchen table, we knew this and brought a card table and a couple of chairs. But, for sleeping 16 to 18 people you would not be able to eat together or sit together in the living room. This really was not a problem for us.
We really did enjoy our time there, spent lots of time out in the mountains, played games and did puzzles. We sat on the deck lots!!
Ted, please know that we did enjoy your home. Just please let people know the road condition. Thank you!!!!
We loved the place and would definitely stay again and tell our family and friends
After a recent bad experience with a different home owner off of VRBO it prompted me to finally write a review for this home. I had rented for our large family reunion last year in March. We found this house to be absolutely gorgeous. The kitchen was fully stocked as well as the laundry soap, plenty of towels, blankets, and a fully stocked kitchen equipped with spices, silverware, and dishes for large parties. The first initial drive up the mountain is somewhat daunting, but after a couple of times up and down you get the hang of it. All cars made it to the house just fine with the exception of a Saturn that had somewhat of a hard time. The fireplace and game room was a great focal point. The Jacuzzi had a beautiful view. The owner of this home really knows how to accommodate his guests and I would definitely recommenced this home!
The place is amazing. We came with 20 people aging from 54 - 2 months. Everyone had a fabulous time. The cabin is perfect for all age groups. There were 3 cribs, a high chair and small chairs and lots of games for the kids to play. The deck was huge with a hot tub and very nice. I would recommend this home for anyone. The town of Franklin was also very nice. Lots of nice walking paths, gem minds and fun things for the kids. The brewery was lots of fun for the adults as well. We took a day trip to Cherokee and the boys went fly fishing and the girls went to the casino. It was a very nice casino and we had lots of fun.
Great cabin, the garbage was a little tricky, since you had to drive it to a dump station. We had a full house, so lot of garbage during our week. But otherwise, we were happy with it!
Located on 5 acres. Plenty of room for the kids to explore. Close to few remaining ruby mines that offer native gemstones. Rafting on Nantahala river is only 45 minutes away. Great motorcycle rides everywhere, about one hour from tail of the Dragon. Away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to all the shopping and dining, just 10 miles from downtown Franklin.
