1 Ropewalk located only 50 metres from the beautiful Porthmeor & 100 metres from lovely Porthgwidden beach in a central St Ives town location. 1 Ropewalk includes a Porthgwidden beach chalet from Easter to 29 Oct 2016 for 1 week; 13 Aug will be a cabin on Porthminster beach. Semi-detached cottage, with very rare integral remote control garage sleeps 2/4. Porthmeor is a prime St Ives area ,central for the town & next to the Tate Gallery. Porthmeor beach is famous for its sunsets, surf, lovely cafe/restaurant, surf hire, school and life guards. The Tate gallery is built on Porthmeor beach on the site of the old gas works, the shape of the building echoes it's old use. Porthmeor beach area has an industrial past as an area of fish stores and net lofts, now these buildings are used for artists studios. The beach itself became popular in the 70's and is the main surfing beach in the town, providing a contrast to it's genteel neighbour the Porthminster Beach which being close to the station was popular from the Victorian times.

Alongside the surf, Porthmeor boasts a lovely beach cafe/restaurant, shop, takeaway, beach cabins, surf hire, lessons and life guards. It is also the location for the famous Tate gallery. There are fantastic walks from the beach along the coast out to Zennor. Just off Porthmeor beach is the area called the Island, there is a scenic coastal footpath around this area with fantastic viewpoints. The Island allows dogs throughout the year.

1 Salting Porthmeor Beach St.Ives

The website was very accurate, what you see there is what you get, very beautiful. The property was very clean and well maintained. Jane kept in touch with us after our booking and sent us detail maps to follow, which were a great help. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone. We liked the art galleries, restaurants and the walks around the area. We loved to see the excited dogs as they arrived at the beach with their toys ready to play, they were as excited as the small children that arrived for their time playing on the beach, it was great.

1 The Ropewalk

My wife and I stayed for our honeymoon at 1 The Ropewalk for a week and found everything fantastic. The location can not be bettered and the cottage is lovely for cosy nights in. We loved listening to the stormy weather outside the dormer window in the bedroom. Practically being on the beach was great and also within 1 minute of St Ives' restaurants and pubs. The parking is also a real bonus. Will definitely be returning I hope soon.

Excellent cottage, fantastic location

We've stayed at Ropewalk numerous times and it really is the most perfect cottage. The decor is simple and stylish and the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The property is spread over three floors. The bathroom on the lower floor, the kitchen and lounge/diner on the second floor and the double bed is on a mezzanine balcony above the lounge. It's a great use of space. There is also an integral garage which is a god send (and keeps the seagull poo off your car!). The location is the real 'clincher' though. It is situated less than 50 yards from the fantastic Porthmeor beach and at night you can lie in bed and listen to the waves crashing on the beach. There are numerous fantastic restaurants in St Ives and this property is no more than a five minute walk from all of them. Highly recommended.

The house was in an excellent spot, close to all amenities and the beach' it was clean and well maintained. We were met at the property by a very helpful gentleman who advised us the best way to reverse into the garage' which although small, was a bonus. I was unable to give the property a higher rating because of the sleeping accommodation, this was a mezzanine above the living room. The sloping roof was on one side so the head room on that side of the bed was very low, I found it impossible to stand up on that side and would imagine no other adult would be able to do so.

1 Ropewalk is located 50 metres from the beach slipway, just around the corner, alongside a row of artists studios.

St Ives harbour, is nearby and provides a full range of eating establishments and numerous boutique shops. St Ives is famous as a centre for the arts and there are over 30 galleries spread throughout the town. The Tate is close by on Porthmeor beach also the Barbara Hepworth museum and gardens, and the famous Porthmeor Studios and Art school. The Leach studios have also been re-furbished and are now open to the public. Porthmeor beach is the main surfing beach in the town, & a surf school is on hand for lessons and equipment. For those with younger children looking for calmer waters there is another small protected sandy cove at 50 metres. Please note the google map shows 1 Lower Saltings 1 Ropewalk is 50 metres from this marker, next to the o in Porthmeor Rd.

Other Activities: Surf lessons are available on Porthmeor beach

2 weeks during September St Ives has it's famous festival of Arts and Music, events throughout the town.

Also St Ives has a popular Food festival during May.

1 ROPEWALK GARAGE DIMENSIONS 240cm WIDTH, almost 8ft. and 210cm HEIGHT almost 7ft. Due to the camber of the road maximum height of vehicles advised under 2m. LENGTH of garage is 500 cms or 16ft 3. These are minimum measurements of the garage opening there is extra room either side once inside the garage The garage door is operated via a remote control. Ropewalk is only 50 metres from the lovely Porthmeor beach. We allow well behaved dogs, there is an area next to the beach called the Island where dogs are allowed throughout the year, and a beautiful coastal path from Porthmeor beach to Zennor village and beyond. 1 Ropewalk is in a prime location being a few metres from the beautiful Porthmeor beach, famous for its surf and sunsets. The local restaurants, pubs and shops are closeby. The property is next to a row of art studios, the Penwith Art Gallery and close to the Tate gallery, St Ives. The location is central for all the towns amenities
