Have to love this place.
First the basics:
2 bedrooms each with Queen beds. Each bedroom has it's own full bath.
Den on 2nd floor with flat-screen TV and Full sleeper sofa.
Tucked in beautiful Capitol Hill, this restored Victorian has been painstakingly worked over every inch! Ground floor offers great seating space and a well updated eat in kitchen. There is even a heated/ air conditioned glassed -in back porch in which to enjoy your morning coffee year round, along with views of the other historic homes in the neighborhood.
The second floor features a master bedroom suite with private powder room. There is a unique shower in the hall that is original to the house's roots as a boarding house. There is a library/entertainment sitting area between the master suite and the second suite with a private full powder room. This entertainment area features a full size sleeper sofa. The second suite also has a heated/ air conditioned glassed- in upper porch with more views of the other historic homes in the neighborhood.
This renovated century old Victorian town house located in the historic district of Capitol Hill, in a well established and friendly neighborhood just off Lincoln Park, is within easy walking distance of the US Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Congressional Buildings, the Eastern Market and Union Station Metrorail (subway) stops and attractions, and it is one block from the City Bus lines. From the Capitol, it is about a ten to fifteen minutes walk to reach the Smithsonian Mall and its Museums. This downtown neighborhood location, convenient to the monuments, memorials, and museums, as well as to government and business, is equally appealing to the tourist and to the business traveler.
The historic neighborhood is home to Eastern Market, which is a landmark in itself and has been operating for over 100 years. There are second and third generation family operated open food stalls inside and on the weekends it has an outdoor flea and antique market, a farmers market, and an arts and crafts market. Capitol Hill with its town homes with flower filled front yards, and its tree-lined streets with interesting and unique shops and neighborhood café and restaurants, offers a friendly, small town flavor and atmosphere, yet it is right in the heart of downtown, Washington, DC.
I love hosting people in my homes in DC. My brothers and I have been providing vacationers comfortable accommodations since 2011. I wanted to create a special business handling exceptional and interesting properties. It is my goal to provide properties that create a magical and whimsical setting while you are in Washington, yet provide the services people need that have busy lives that follow them when they travel ...
Cliff Palermo purchased this townhome in 2013
This location is full of History and is at the seat of world power. It allows easy access to the great historical sights of Washington as well as the business center.
This particular property provides a wonderful experience for someone that really wants to experience a Washington neighborhood and a decidedly American way of life. Many people have stayed at this property from around the world and have been charmed by the special jewel that it is.
A wonderful townhouse on Capitol Hill. Nice neighborhood, one mile from Capitol, enjoyable walk, nice park close by. Historic flavor was a plus. The accommodations were great. The home provided a welcome, relaxing location after busy days. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Plenty of room. The pictures were very reflective of the home. Everything was very clean. We had no car and walked to the Eastern Market train and to the Mall. We did have a glitch with the fridge, but that was fixed after getting ahold of the owners. They say email is the quickest, but it did take a while for them to respond. My only suggestion is to have a couple of furniture pieces downstairs replaced with more comfy ones. Overall, a great stay and would recommend.
I'd highly recommend this townhouse. It has substantial room and its location is ideal for business or recreation. The owner was extremely easy to work with.
Cliff was amazingly helpful and catered to our every need! The home is gorgeous and in a perfect area to get to everything in DC!
We rented this place based on the previous reviews and we could not be happier!! the place is like living inside an antique shop or a museum! If you like contemporary, simplistic, modern design kind of places, please save yourself the disappointment and DO NOT stay there; but if you appreciate vintage, quaint, classic design, this is DEFINITELY the place for you! It is amazing how many different little things we could find throughout the entire house! the house itself deserves a half day visit to find out all the amazing pieces of history we could find inside; the house is comfortable, well equipped, perfectly suited for 6x guests (2x queen size beds and a pull out sofa bed) and plenty of room for everyone; all the comfort we needed and all appliances required to make our stay memorable! The parking spot on the back is just a blessing after a long day touring the city without the worrying of finding a spot late at night. Great place.
Just a couple observations:
- Please DO NOT try to get out of the back ally on the opposite direction where you got in......I ended up scratching my car door and almost got stuck trying! (yes, yes, I know, but I thought I could fit!!)
- Although we found the back door keys and clicker for the garage, they were not marked so it was confusing; not a big deal but a little tag with the location they open will be very helpful.
- I tried to confirm my reservation and sent a couple emails to the owner about some very minor issues but seemed he did not received them; not sure if his email address was not working properly since he kept sending follow up emails asking us if everything was OK while we did send him some observations but did not get a response; we are sure it was nothing more than a technology glitch somewhere since everything else was pretty smooth.
- The pullout sofa needs a thicker mattress; This is not an issue with this particular sofa but with every pull out sofa but sleeping on if is a little bit uncomfortable since the mattress is not cushioned enough and the frame can be felt on the back. an extra foam somewhere to place on top will solve the issue immediately.
We had a great time and we will definitely go back in a heartbeat, the observations above are just very minor compared with all the pros we found. Great place. great communication, great place and great experience!
We were there for the Marathon and also for visiting.
Although buses and subway are not very close by, the walk to the US Capitol, Union Station or the Eastern Market were amazing! And the parking spot was a big help.
The house itself feels like your aunt has left you the key while she is out travelling! SOOO many things to see!
It is a nice place to settle if you are looking to stay a while.
Couldn't wish for a nicer neighborhood. Nice and quiet with excellent Metro access makes hitting the sights or the Convention Center a breeze!
