This villa has two bedrooms, a large living room-dining room combination, and a modern, eat-in kitchen. It is conveniently located in the village of Nesso, midway between the city of Como and the beautiful town of Bellagio, this comfortable, charming villa boasts magnificent views of Lake Como from all windows, and is within easy reach of a variety of restaurants, shopping, hiking, and other places on the Lake. Enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine on the wrap-around balcony, take a boat ride to the famous Villas Carlotta and Balbianello, or plan a day trip to Milano or Lugano.
This is my family home.I spend at least three months there in an apartment downstairs. I am a retired Professor who lives in St.Louis, Mo.USA. I was born in Nesso and this was the house my father built when he retired. It has been completely redone.
John Garganigo purchased this villa in 1970
Wer den Comersee kennt, weiß wie schön die Landschaft mit den steilen Ufern ist. Um so wertvoller ist aber auch der Parkplatz, den wir direkt vor der Haustüre nutzen konnten! (Luxus in Nesso!)
My wife and I along with another couple shared this home for a week in early September. Our stay was perfect in every respect. The home is spacious, clean and fully equipped with modern appliances throughout. Storage space abounds. Nesso is ideally siutated midway between Como and Bellagio with hourly bus service in both directions and adequate ferry service as well. We rented a car upon arrival at Malpensa and turned it in the following day at the Como rail station. Bus and ferry were ideal. Other reviews provide details on the proximity of both. Views from the home are simply spectacular morning, noon and night. Meal preparation is a snap in the fully equipped kitchen or opportunities abound in villages from Como to Bellagio, Nesso included. The owner is a delight to work with as well as his relatives residing adjacent to the home in Nesso and the helpful and friendly locals . Highly recommended.
My wife and I, along with various constellations of friends, have been coming to this house in Nesso for years. I believe we have stayed there, usually for two weeks at a time, 5 times. This last time was the best because the weather was wonderful, and the kitchen had been completely redone.
The bus to Bellagio stops at the end of the driveway; the bus to Como across the street. The ferry to all points on the lake is a short walk away, all downhill. So the house is most conveniently located. There is a good restaurant at the Tre Rose Hotel, not 5 star, but more than adequate, about a block away.
If you want to eat at home, you will be able to do it without difficulty. The kitchen is fully equipped, and spotless. If there are any difficulties, the owner's cousin lives right next door. We strongly recommend this lovely apartment. The views are knock-out.
Brilliant!. From the instant we drove up to the entrance we were taken by this gorgeous setting. The house is spacious and beautiful both from the inside and out. Both rooms (plenty of storage space) and bathrooms were very comfortable. The kitchen was gorgeous, spacious and fully equipped; so much so that my wife cooked a couple of meals even though she had said that she would not during this vacation!
The views from the balcony, bedrooms and living rooms is breathtaking. Words can't describe the beauty; it's better than what has been written in all these other reviews.
The town is peaceful. Tre Rose the restaurant is across the street and very convenient. We did get groceries from Como (Esselunga) which was a big plus as the small grocery store across the street is only good for limited items.
We stayed there for one week with our 15 and 8 year old kids who enjoyed the house and the town of Nesso. So I wouldn't say this is a place for couples only!
The owners are lovely people and they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.
There is no doubt we highly recommend this amazing place with no reservations whatsoever. Our only regret is that we didn't stay here longer.
My husband and I stayed in this lovely villa in the charming town of Nesso for one week and we wished it could have been longer. The villa was comfortable and very roomy for our family of 3, the kitchen was very well-equipped and we all loved the mornings and evenings on the great balcony with the gorgeous view across the lake towards Pigra. It also was very convenient to have a clothes washer. The wifi worked well, the parking was much easier to manage than most of the other places we saw and we thought Nesso's' location was perfect -- halfway between Bellagio and Como. The bus stops right outside the villa so a car wouldn't even be necessary. We also enjoyed many a dinner at Tre Rose, a one minute walk away. John was very easy to deal with regarding arrangements and we appreciated his responsiveness to our queries. There was also a very complete guestbook with a lot of local information about the area. I highly recommend this villa for any stay in the Como area. You won't be disappointed!
This apartment is just as lovely as it looks in these pictures, and while there were just two of us, it's easily large enough for a family to stay comfortably and have some ability to spread out. Having a full size kitchen and laundry facilities made this a terrific home base for visiting the Lake Como area and while the road between Como and Nesso is narrow and winding, it's not too long a drive to be manageable. But I would definitely advice having a car rather than relying on public transportation here.
John and his wife were wonderful hosts, and we enjoyed their company as much as we enjoyed the apartment.
Lake Como is renowned for it scenic beauty, its many lovely villas, Villas Carlotta and Melzi with their rich botanical gardens, and Villa Balbianello, said to be the most beautiful of all. The restored abbey of Piona is place of quiet serenity, and Bellagio has some of the best shopping in Italy. The City of Como offers pleasant walks along the lake and in the old walled city; its Duomo, or cathedral is a masterpiece. Milan, with Leonardo's famous Last Supper ,is only an hour away by train, and ski resorts on the Valtellina are easily accessible.
