I retired after 38 years as a school psychologist, special education director, assistant superintendent and then Superintendent. You will find everyone friendly and helpful with a very safe and secure atmosphere.
Gary W. Gerber purchased this cabin in 2012
We chose this property because it is a true mountain cabin with close proximity to wilderness areas. The climate here has mild summer temperatures and lots of sun year round. The winters have enough powdered snow for all kinds of winter sports and one of the premier ski areas in the country is just minutes away. There is a secluded, quiet laid back ambiance but the house is only minutes to the conveniences of the town.
The views from all around the house and the ability to walk right into the national forest make this a special place to relax.
We had a great time at Sleepy Bear Lodge. The owners we awesome to work with, very accommodating and quick to respond. The house was perfect for what we needed. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. We had 9 adults staying at the house that were on a tight schedule in the mornings. We were all able to enjoy a hot shower with no problems. The beds were all comfortable.
We enjoyed being able to cook at the house every night except one. There was a grill available for us to use.
We loved sitting on the wrap around porch with spectacular views of the mountains.
We would definitely stay here again!
Thanks for a great week! Christy N
This house was amazing. We had 4 adults and 1 child with us and the space worked perfectly. The area is beautiful and the location is great. Far enough out of town to get the quiet, peaceful feeling and then close enough for a quick trip to the store if needed. The kitchen worked great as we cooked in most nights. The beds are very comfy and cozy. The owner is extremely easy to work with. I would definately use this house again if we vacation in the area again.
This Pagosa Springs cabin was a comfortable home away from home for our week long vacation. The cabin was clean and well decorated with comfortable beds and furniture. We had plenty of room for 5 adults and 4 kids. The location was ideal for us since we were close to town for shopping and eating out and close to the Piedra trail for fishing every day. No complaints or disapointments with our stay. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a comfortable cabin in the pagosa area.
My husband said this was the best vacation we had spent as a family! The property was exactly as described and very clean and well maintained. The house was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was well stocked. It had everything from a crockpot (which we used) to a cookie sheet (which we also used :)) The stove in the living area was cozy. The upstairs was big enough to exercise in. Downstairs, the kids stayed in the twin room with the youngest (2 yrs) sleeping on a trundle. This was perfect because if he had rolled out of bed it was a short trip to the floor. The queen bed we slept in was very comfortable as well. We had several family game nights with games that were there (Yahtzee, cards) and went skiing at Wolf Creek Ski Area. This was my daughter's first time to ski so we enrolled her at the Wolf Pup school. She is 8 and took to it like a duck to water. She had so much fun, she asked to ski a second day which we happily did. We would have skied a third day, but we were all tired. We enjoyed watching the snow fall and playing in it, including attempting to build a snowman and sledding. We ran out of time but we also talked about snow shoeing, cross country skiing, a sleigh ride, shopping, and the mineral springs. There was no shortage of things to do. Given that it is winter, I was surprised how clear the roads were. That had been a concern of mine. We had a fantastic time and can't wait to stay again! Will definitely be recommending this to my friends and family as a place to stay.
Our property is 60 minutes from Durango and the million dollar highway with breathtaking mountain driving and views. We are a easy three hour drive to Santa Fe new Mexico. Mesa Verde is two hours away. But you needn't go anywhere else this area has plenty to keep you busy. Pagosa Springs is noted for world class hot spring spas, tubing on the San Juan and Rio Grande rivers, horse back riding snow skiing & snow mobiling at Wolf Creek Pass. There are a thousand miles of hiking trails in the area, scenic falls, the continental divide and every kind of activity for summer and winter. If you are more into relaxing and enjoying the scenery there are many scenic drives and tour operators who can take you into the high country during all seasons. Relax and enjoy!!
