This historic, cottage style house sits at he end of a no through street. This area is quiet and restful. There is a 20 foot seawall for your boat that has direct canal access to Pine Island Sound and then right out to the Gulf for a day of fishing and relaxing. The perfect bay directly behind the house is perfect for kayaks and canoe. The famous craft and art shops of Matlacha are just a 5 minute walk from the house. The most delicious fresh seafood restaurants and eateries also within a 10 minute walk. If your looking for the perfect vacation cottage this is the place.
We have several rental properties in the SouthWest Florida area and are renting this cute Matlacha get-a-way on a monthly or weekly basis.
We like to meet all our guests upon check in. As a courtesy to our neighbors we do not permit "middle of the night" check in. Please give an approximate arrival time when you are booking.
Betty Love purchased this house in 2012
Best price in Matlacha Fl. Dead-end street, very quiet. But just a quick 5 minute walk to 2 restaurants many of Matlacha Art stores.
Fully furnished, extra clean and all amenities included.
My 2nd time at this property. First time as a fishing retreat with a buddy. This time as a couple's getaway with the wife. Matlacha is a friendly, laid back town that operates on slow time. Nice people, relaxing town. Good restaurants are walking distance.
The wife said this was the best vacation she's been on. Total relaxation! There's fishing the bridge or the city park (walking distance) or various piers on Pine Island. She took an art class at one of the local art shops. We spent time just chilling at the canal cottage home as well. All supplies are there to cook at home. Best part is sitting out back watching the canal. Day or night, coffee or beer in hand. We relaxed just watching the fish leap out of the water.
Great place for no-pressure vacation. You can go economical by eating in (Publix or WinDixie couple miles away) , short drive to Fort Myers for "big city" and beaches, then return to your quiet oasis. We will be back again most def.!
If you never experienced any time in Matlacha you don't know what you are missing. Spent one week in what all residents of this small fishing village call paradise. It truely is paradise. The home had everything we needed for a week long stay of kayak fishing. Everyone we met over the week were so friendly and helpful and had nothing bad to say about their little piece of heaven. Highly recommend this home and will be returning to it in years to come.
Clean, quaint cottage home on a canal. Nicely renovated interior. Everything you could need is supplied (laundry, stove, kitchen) though we only used the refrigerator/freezer.
The tv is in a small room on the side, the main focus is the central dining room table. You're on vacation, who needs the tv? Master bedroom is large for the home, second BR small but efficient.
The area out back on the canal is nice to sit and relax, watch a few fish jump. Also great for cleaning any of your catch from the Matlacha bridge, which is a short walk away. Grab your poles and a bucket and head down! Gift/craft shops are a walk away as are restaurants.
Only drawback is the home is on a very narrow street. Takes a little getting used to pulling in or backing in. It's certainly not a dealbreaker and the plus is you are at the end. Quiet! Neighbor across the street is a sweet woman who may come out to greet you.
Very positive experience at this property. Our vacation was primarily fishing the areas around Pine Island. I'm looking forward to leasing again with the wife. Nice honeymoon get away spot if you are laid back type.
Betty Love was great with answering or questions about the Cozy Cottage in Matlacha. She was even able to let us arrive two days early and we ended up staying 9 nights. Betty and her Husband made sure that they arrived before we did and made sure the cottage was clean and ready for our stay. The cottage has been in Matlacha since the 50's. Nice view of Palm tress and foliage out back across the canal. The many Osprey where beautiful and you can watch them catch fish from the canal. White herons would stop by to hang out and the little lizards are so cute. We enjoyed walking the streets in the morning and evenings. We rented kayaks and kayaked the bay area. Great food and live music at the Blue Dog Bar and Grill, Bert's and the Fish House. At the Fish Market you can stop in and say hi to Andy and get fresh caught fish. We went during off season but many shops where open and we enjoyed looking around the galleries and getting ice cream at the ice cream Shoppe. The Publix is only 2 miles away and is new and very nice. Walk to the draw bridge and fish or watch the Pods of Dolphins that hang out at the bridge. The beaches are about 40 minutes away but you have a large choice of beaches to visit and the are all beautiful. The people and neighbors on Matlacha are very friendly. My husband and I are in our early 50's and enjoyed our stay very much! Highly recommend!
The house was clean larger than I thought it would be. Back patio is right on the canal and we could see fish jumping in the water while we sat outside. Great location for being able to walk to almost all the restaurants and shops. Stackable washer and dryer was a huge bonus. I was able to wash all our clothes before we left making unpacking much easier. The house has all dishes, pots and pans, silverware, etc. Would stay again.
My wife and I stayed here for 11 days at the end of March and loved every minute of it. It's an exceptionally clean & neat cottage, all new carpeting and ceramic tile, and the Loves provided everything necessary for a great vacation. It's right on a canal and whether sitting, reading or cooking outside, we watched good-sized fish literally jumping out of the water all day.
It's an artistic, quiet island neighborhood at the end of the block and the neighbors were all very nice & friendly. All the small arty shops & galleries, fish markets and excellent restaurants were within about a 5 minute walk and we felt Matlacha was the most interesting place of the entire Ft. Myers/Cape Coral/Pine Island area.
Also, the big grocery stores (Publix and/or Winn Dixie) and open-air produce markets were only a 10-minute drive in either direction, very convenient.
We'll definitely be staying there again.
Five minute walk to the Matlacha art shops. Short drive to Cape Coral. Thirty minute drive to Punta Gorda.
