The main lodge gathering room is breath taking with its light filled rooms and 20' wood ceilings. The house sits in a corner position giving you views in every direction. Two leather sofas and a chair, General Joe's rocking chair and a large TV including satellite and Dvd player. A cozy authentic stove fire place in the corner with beautiful views behind it of the valley! In the front of the main lodge room is the cozy lodge reading spot. This features a beautiful over sized chest and futon nestled between the corner windows. A perfect spot to read, nap, or for 1-2 more guest to sleep.
The Lodge is decorated with true mountain lodge decor with a nod to rural Americana style in honor of owner retired Army LT. General Joe. The Cosumano's passion and love for America is obvious with old vintage furniture they have UpCycled and hand painted. Chanelle, and Interior Designer, has maintained the integrity of this unique and valued Mentone home, while updating and accenting its features. She has created an oasis that just may make you decide to not leave!
An open floor plan that is an airy, bright and very large retreat! Hardwood floors through out! Guest enter through a beautiful screened in front porch into a great entry way with hooks to hang all of your gear! An efficient yet full kitchen features beautiful hand painted cabinets, a full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, electric stove and oven, dishwasher and double sink. The cook has views all around to see outside and other guest!
The breakfast bar seats 3 and the dining room with wood beam ceilings, surrounded by windows and a farm style table, literally hangs over the edge of the mountain with awesome views and can seat up to 10 guest. The breakfast porch is adjoining through a large sliding glass door and can be opened for more seating up to 8 so everyone can be together!
Complimentary homemade Artisan Bread or Praline Pecans made on the mountain will greet you upon arrival! Coffee/Tea Bar, Water and drinks. We try to make your first morning relaxing! We strive to make your whole stay the best experience ever.
Head upstairs via the original suspended stair case to the third level loft! The views are only better! Enjoy reading a book from General Joe's library, or enjoy the use of his desk. The feature here is the over sized hot tub with lean back, facing each other seating, cozily positioned in the corner surrounded with windows! High above the trees, enjoy this hot tub during the day and see the views, or in the evening and see the stars! The best is... no bugs or weather permitting problems, because you are inside!!

Located right between DeSoto state park, walking distance to the boy scout park, near all summer camps, short drive to Fort Payne, de Soto Caverns, Falls and Mentone. Nearby canoeing, snow skiing, horseback riding, endless trails, wildlife all over our property and so much more. If you miss the city, Chattanooga is only about an hour away, Huntsville and hour and a half and Birmingham and Atlanta less than 2. Scottsboro 45 min with Cathedral Caverns, Unclaimed Baggage, Walls of Jericho and beautiful Bucks Pocket Park.
Guest can utilize the bbq pit located right outside of the main door, the firepit on the stone terrace ( firewood is provided) , badminton, volleyball, horseshoes and archery (we supply 2 youth bows/arrows), adults bring your own bow and arrows) on the property.
Enjoy the whistle of the train below, songs of the birds and the moo's of the cows. Be on the lookout for deer, rabbits, hawks and bald Eagles.
Guest also receive in advance a Guest Book full of information that help them prepare and plan their trip. Including all that you can do and enjoy on the mountain, plus discounts from local businesses for our guest only. This has received accolades from guest. The home and the property are now a retreat that you will not want to leave. The General's Main Lodge sits on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the home and sleep 2-9 guest. Fall is bursting with color you may see in Vermont, but it is right here for all to enjoy.
We also can assist you with special plans if you are celebrating an anniversary, birthday, a surprise, engagement or honeymoon. We can completely handle any arrangements from flowers, photographs, or do your grocery shopping for you so you don't have too. We require a two week notice on any of these services.
Between our three homes on the property, we can sleep up to 20 in beds.
