Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Susan,

Thank you for a lovely stay at Rowan Cottage. It is extremely well-equipped and really comfortable and cosy.

Just to let you know we did not use the coal so we left it where it was, in the basket next to the fireplace, hope that's ok.

There was no sign of a jiffy bag, but the remote control in place did work and we got 5 channels which is perfectly adequate!

As we were leaving, a gentleman was looking at your sign, trying to take down contact details. Of course we gave the cottage our warmest recommendation.

Kind regards,

Perfect location for access to most beautiful Dale

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was just spot on for our Dales walking holiday; well fitted, tastefully presented and quietly located, yet within a stones throw of all village facilities - we loved it !

What a delightful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

A delightful property! Very well situated for a range of different walks to suit all the members of the family and delightfully quiet. The Buck Inn, 2 minutes walk down the lane, was a great place to eat and drink. The garden was a real bonus for dogs and children. The cottage itself was very well equipped (better than any other I have stayed in), extremely comfortable and cosy too - a real home from home! We look forward to returning soon!

A Memorable Week in a lovely cottage in Buckden

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was lovely, beautifully clean and much more spacious than the photographs led us to believe, it was very comfortable and warm. We enjoyed sitting on the patio in the sunshine after a day walking in the sunshine it was a most relaxing place to be. We made use of the Dales bus service by taking the bus to Grassington and walking back. We have all ready recommended it to family.

My husband and 11 year old daughter enjoyed a long weekend at Rowan Cottage. We were all impressed with the space, the cleanliness, the quality of the furniture and fittings as well as the fantastic location: great views and minutes from the shop and the pub, with parking right outside. All the information we needed for our stay was clearly provided and the kitchen was very well equipped. Although it was May the weather during the early part of our stay was cold and rainy but the heating worked very well and we were always warm in the house. The coal fire stove was a lovely feature. I would recommend this lovely cottage to everyone. The surrounding area is breathtaking and you are in easy reach of Kettlewell, Grassington, Bolton Abbey and Aysgarth Falls.

Sitting on the banks of the River Wharfe, in some of Britain's finest unspoilt and spectacular scenery. Because of this beauty, much of Upper Wharfedale is owned by the national Trust and is superb walking country. Strolls to a nearby pub along the river or if you prefer, a more energetic climb to the top of Wharfedale's highest peaks, Great Whernside and Buckden Pike, both over 2,300 feet await.

Wherever you go you are assured of dramatic views over the surrounding dales and fells. The marvellous Buck Inn is only sixty paces away, and within a two mile radius there are three other country pubs.

Further afield, amongst the many attractions are the Three Peaks Walk, Settle to Carlisle railway, Skipton's Medieval Castle and Bolton Abbey.

A short drive will take you into the Lake District, the spa town of Harrogate, the historic City of York, and the Cities of Bradford and Leeds.
