Gold Country / High Sierra Estate Rental Photos and Description

24 Acre River Estate with Luxury Residence, 7 bedrooms and Swimming Pool

Voted Best Vacation Home in Kaweah Country 2013, the Redbud Trail retreat is nestled among the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, on the South Fork of the Kaweah River. This property offers the utmost in privacy and seclusion while being less than 10 min. from the quaint town of Three Rivers & 20 min. from Sequoia National Park.

The large 4800 sq ft residence is set on 24 magnificent wooded acres of blue oaks and redbuds overlooking its own unique piece of the South Fork of the Kaweah River. Keep an eye out for the local deer, stroll our olive grove or just marvel at the majestic mountain vistas.

The property is comprised of a two-story house with the utmost in luxury and comfort with an adjacent cozy studio. Central heating/cooling and a flexible mix of rooms with private patios ensures privacy, comfort and accommodation for any combination of guests. The large kitchen is well equipped with quality appliances ready for the heartiest of meals. Adjacent is a dining area seating up to 12, central to a generous and lofty living area with wood burning fireplace and veranda with breathtaking views of Blossom Peak. The outdoor living environment is equally enchanting with a fabulous lagoon pool, fireplace and rustic outdoor dining area with gas BBQ - all with a beautiful river view.

The ground floor also has a master suite with a queen- size Tempur-Pedic bed and a master bathroom with large jetted bathtub, generous shower, Swedish Sauna, separate toilet and bidet, walk-in closet and an extra vanity area. On the ground floor there is another bedroom also with a Tempur-Pedic queen-size bed. The third ground floor bedroom includes two queen beds, sitting area and private patio. There is also a full bathroom, a full laundry room with state of the art appliances and a separate library room.

Upstairs there are two large bedrooms with king beds, walk-in closets and private balconies. There is a central bathroom with separate vanity area.

The adjacent studio is completely private and only steps away from the main house. It offers rustic charm, knotty pine ceilings and walls, and a wood burning stove. It also has central heating and air conditioning. There is a queen bed in a nook area, a lounge dining area, a separate bedroom with two twin beds, a veranda and a bathroom.

Although the residence is superb, it is the outdoors that is the big attraction. Sip coffee on the huge veranda overlooking the lagoon style pool and watch the river running below, or enjoy meals on the rustic barbecue deck, marveling at the majestic mountains. In winter, huddle by the outdoor fireplace sipping wine while gazing at the incredible night sky. In summer, relax by the pool, dipping in to cool off now and then. Take nature walks on the property through the blue oaks, along the river frontage or through the olive grove, all the while being on the look-out for our friendly deer.

You will love vacationing at Redbud Trail Retreat so much it may be difficult to tear yourself away to see the Sequoia National Park and other attractions.

If you can leave your compound, the area offers an abundance of activities year round.

About Robin Castro

We are two families originally from Australia and have been in the hotel business for many years, so you can count on us to have everything just right. We love the outdoors and discovered the Three Rivers area while looking for a private 'off the grid' property to retreat to periodically from our busy schedules - a place to be able to enjoy with family and friends with easy access to the great outdoors of the Sierra Nevada.

Robin Castro purchased this estate in 2012

Why Robin Castro chose Gold Country / High Sierra

We loved our camping and hiking adventures in the Sierras so much that we decided to try to get own little piece. When we first toured the Three Rivers area we fell in love with the quaint town and its accessibility to the many outdoor activities, amazing vistas, natural habitats and river access. Red Bud Trail Retreat is one of those rare properties in the Three Rivers area that has vast views, river frontage , seclusion, and absolute peace and quiet.

What makes this estate unique

This particular property is the last remaining parcel of land at the foot of Blossom Peak on Red Bud Trail. We just love the orientation of the home overlooking the river and mountains.

You feel totally secluded and your only neighbor is a family of deer that occasionally graze outside the kitchen window or the wild turkeys that drop by.

The olive grove of over 200 trees is always a great place to take a stroll, as is the riverfront.

Of course the residence is just fabulous , well built and so comfortable.

The property has a certain energy about it that you 'drop into' the minute you arrive.

We Love It!

Relaxing - Perfect for a large group with kids!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with 4 families. This included 7 kids and 7 adults. There was plenty of room to sleep, play, and eat. We especially loved the pool, the short walk to the creek and the beautiful setting. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed from a mixer to an electric skillet. There were 2 refrigerators and a chest freezer which came in handy with our large group. The air conditioning worked very well and there were seperate thermostats for different areas of the house. The covered patio was a delightful place to relax I. The evening and watch the sun set or build a puzzle out of the morning sun.

I would highly recommend this property!

PS There was cell service at the time of our visit for AT&T subscribers but not Verizon.

All the rooms in the house are big and they all have comfortable beds. There is a lot to do in this house. We will be back to this house soon. Redbud Retreat was an ideal and peaceful setting for our group's meditation and massage retreat! Everyone loved the pool, the lovely rooms, and the breathtaking beauty. Robin was wonderful to work with, answering tons of questions and giving us a great tip on a swimming hole in the park to visit. Hope to be back soon!!

Serenity

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 16 included 9 adults and 7 kids. We celebrated my husband's 80th birthday with all of the kids and grandkids. Robin was absolutely wonderful always answering my questions and emails. Robin had made a loaf of bread for us and left a bottle of wine upon our arrival. A wonderful touch. She is a jewel. Our stay at the Redbud Trail Retreat was breathtaking, peaceful and serene. We went into the Sequoia Nat'l Park only one day and we spent the rest of our days at Redbud enjoying the outdoors and pool. It was a very relaxing vacation spot for all of us. Thank you Robin for making our stay fabulous.

Wonderful large home in Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

Our group of seven adults and seven kids loved staying on this property in Three Rivers. We were impressed upon arrival with the look and size of the home and the lovely lands surrounding the house. The views from the back patio were gorgeous and we spent every evening watching the sunset, either from the back patio or the pool. The home itself provided plenty of space for everyone to spread out. We never felt like we were on top of each other or squished. The kitchen was fully stocked so we could easily make meals for the group every night and with the kitchen table, dining table, large back patio table, and the second patio eating area we were always able to have a kids table and adults table and enjoy our meals comfortably. We loved exploring the creek in the backyard too! We would definitely recommend this home to our friends looking to explore Sequoia National Park.

Absolute Perfection

  • 5 of 5

My good friends and I have been plotting a big "family" vacation for a while now, but we were stumped on how to execute it (finding a nice house that accommodates 14 people comfortably is no easy feat!). After many google searches and VRBO searches we stumbled upon the Redbud Trail and, to be honest, it seemed too good to be true-- a house that offers a bedroom for every couple/family, plus a room for all the kids to sleep in (weeklong slumber party!!), enough bathrooms for each family, acres and acres of land to roam around, a creek flowing in the backyard, AND a POOL!? Oh yes, The Redbud Retreat was all that and more. To say that my expectations were exceeded is an understatement- wine and fresh bread on arrival, toiletries in all the bathrooms, an emergency basket of "things you might have forgotten" in the bath cupboard, pool towels a-plenty for everyone in the house and tons of games and movies for all to enjoy. Now that we are back home I SO miss sipping my morning coffee on the deck down by the creek, I miss seeing the kiddos quietly playing chess & board games in the living room, I miss cooking meals with my girlfriends in the well stocked kitchen.... We loved having big family dinners around the huge dining room tables (both inside and out!) and the kids had a blast swimming in the pool and in the creek. Although we had a great time in Sequoia National Park each day of our trip, after a few hours of fun in the park we were so ready to return to our beautiful vacation home. We had the most amazing group vacation and made SO many memories at the Redbud Trail Retreat. Thank you so much!

Established in 1890, Sequoia National Park is California's first national park and America's second oldest. With more than 1 million annual visitors, Sequoia National Park is a popular destination for guests from around the world. Filled with pristine wilderness, giant trees, and terrain that invite engagement with adventure, it's a place where friends and family can enjoy the great outdoors together.

Sequoia Sightseeing Tours introduce visitors to this awe-inspiring park with expert local guides who know it well.

There are more than 800 miles of Sequoia hiking trails for people of every ability and inclination, from gentle ambles among giant sequoias to moderate day hikes and full-throttle ascents.

Fly fishing, stargazing, and spelunking are on the itinerary. And when winter makes its magical arrival at the park's higher elevations, Sequoia recreation expands to include snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and sledding.

Take a leisurely drive after breakfast (hopefully with our local deer family) and climb the 300 foot stair to the summit of Moro Rock where you will enjoy sweeping views of the western half of the Sequoia National Park. Or, visit Crystal Cave, a treasure-cavern of ornate marble polished by subterranean streams and decorated with curtains of icicle-like stalactites and mounds of stalagmites.

After your daily adventures return home to Red Bud Trail Retreat and enjoy our beautiful swimming pool with the uninterrupted serenity of the river and mountain views. At dusk, enjoy your BBQ on the outdoor deck and dine watching the sun set over the Sierras.

Notes:
Be sure to keep an eye out for the deer early morning or at dusk. We can't guarantee they will visit every day, but they do frequent the estate. For groups of 8 or less, you might like to consider our VRBO #455181, which offers less bedrooms & fewer amenities, such as the private cottage, outdoor jacuzzi and game room.
