Casa Punta Azul has an onsite caretaker and his wife who are very familiar with the area. Their home is in the back part of our property and they are very kind, honest and helpful.
Have your cocktails on the large private palapa in front of this awesome home.
The stars in this part of the world are so amazing. There is very little light pollution and the falling stars are abundant!!
The ocean view in this area of the island is amazing and the water is a beautiful turquoise blue!! Our showcase picture of the sunrise, was taken sitting on our veranda! Incredible!!!
Most visitors fly into Belize City and take Tropic Air to San Pedro (15 minute flight) or you may also want to take Belize Water Taxi which takes about an hour. From there, your home away from home ( Casa Punta Azul) is about a 15 minute private boat ride. Enjoy your stay!
We hope you will come to our lovely home! It's amazing! Mi Casa es tu Casa!!
Ambergris Caye Named
No. 1 Island in the World
For a second year in a row, Ambergris Caye has been named the #1 Island in the World,. This is according to 2014 Travellers’ Choice Islands Award which says that “The beautiful Belize island offers the perfect blend of modern development and laid-back tranquility.”
This home sits at a slight angle to the beach, so the trade winds enter the home head on. The water is the most amazing color of turquoise blue! This Home is PRIVATE . There might be a few beach walkers or a few carts pass by, but you will have complete privacy. We have a caretaker who lives on the property. Their home is located in the back. Israel and Melina both speak English. They are there to help with any needs. Our sweet island dog (Chamaka) is well behaved and loving. You will love our home....This place is our own little piece of paradise! Please enjoy...
Our vacation experience began immediately upon deciding to book Casa Punta Azul for our dream vacation. We requested the dates and within a matter of minutes were contacted by the owner and property manager with confirmation of dates. We had many questions about transportation choices from the airport to the property, transportation from property to town and recommendations. After many questions to Brittany our property representative, we decided on a golf cart and she arranged for it to be delivered and waiting upon our arrival. Brittany had Chris meet us at the airport with a taxi to transport us and our luggage to Casa Punta Azul, where Chris introduced us to Israel and Mel the caretakers of Casa Punta Azul. Chris gave us his card and told us he was at our disposal for any needs during our stay. Israel and Mel showed us around and answered questions about the house, dock and palapa and grounds. They informed us that they were available 24-7 for anything we required during our stay. We arrived late and had not eaten, so Mel cooked dinner for us the first of many delicious meals she prepared during our stay. Afterwards we explored the beach and dock before turning in for the night. We awoke the following morning before sunrise and walked down to the palapa at the end of the dock to watch the sunrise shortly after 5 a.m. It was more than we had dreamed of and worth the wait. With the sun up we could now get our first look at Casa Punta Azul in its entirety. Pictures did not do the majestic property justice on the VRBO site, although the site was the reason we found and selected this property because it looked amazing. The house is gorgeous with the grounds equally complimenting with sprawling coconut trees and orchids on over 3 acres of property. The beach is kept clean of what little sea vegetation washes ashore by Israel and Mel. The dock was a walkway to heavenly blue water at its end. We enjoyed this for lounging, snorkeling and catching the water taxi. Our stay was amazing and I am running out of characters, so let me say that we experienced Hurricane Earl during our stay. We were offered the opportunity to leave early and return another time, but had full faith in the construction of the structure, so we stayed. We were without power for a couple of days and running water, but still had a great time. We collected rain water with Israel and assisted with some cleanup after the storm. We can't wait to return in November. AMAZING!
Beautiful property and location. Casa Punta Azul is beautiful and has a great layout to take advantage of the oceanfront vistas. Views from hammocks under palapa at end of private pier are beyond belief. Definitely had that island feel. Both the house and surrounding grounds and oceanfront were well maintained. Seagrass mentioned by prior reviewer was never an issue. Quite secluded location perfect for escaping from the hustle and bustle of civilization. The onsite caretakers Israel and Mel were both friendly, beautiful people. Israel works very hard to keep the property in tip top shape...always with a smile. Mel is gracious and a wonderful cook. Don't bother with the local restaurants. Mel's cooking is far superior. If you are looking to get away from the stress of daily living in a wonderful location Casa Punta Azul is just the ticket!
Very disappointed in this property we arrived to three feet thick of seagrass that lined the front of the property. The smell that the seagrass emitted was horrible. Could have stayed there if we stayed inside the home. When we complained they told us to look past it. We were to stay 10 days and we could and would not stay inside so we booked another resort that cleaned the beach daily. Be very careful dealing with this management company and property.
Casa Punta Azul is a beautiful, very clean, well appointed property/home! It was our first time in Belize & was not disappointed by the beauty & how nice everyone was. We were greeted by Juana, Israel & Chimaka (the dog, which was wonderful to have a pet around) upon arrival. They were very helpful (Juana speaks very little English but Israel is fluent) with information about the island. We did not use the services of Juana's cooking & cleaning because we are a very self sufficient group but I'm sure she's an amazing cook! I highly recommend the fishing trip (1/2 day) with "No Worries" @ X'Tan Ha (which is a mile south from the house). The kayaks were wonderful to use & made snorkeling very easy from the house. Our biggest concerns we had were: 1. The distance...water taxes are expensive & really your only option to get to town ($14 US per person one way. Not the property's fault but just good info). 2. We weren't allowed to rent a golf cart for the week because of the distance to the home from town & weren't informed of this until we arrived in San Pedro (again, not Casa Punta Azuls fault but just good info) 3. Bikes would be a great addition to the home/property. Also we would of paid extra for the home if it provided us with a private boat to use...I think Israel would of done a great job of being a personal water taxi :) All in all if you are looking to really get away from it all, Casa Punta Azul is the perfect spot. If you are looking to be closer to the action/town, might want to negotiate transportation before your arrival (i.e...bikes, golf cart or private boat). Thank you for an excellent time & a BEAUTIFUL stay in Ambergris. We will be back!
I took my first trip out of the u.s and it was to this great place. Ive never been able to see anything so beautiful such as this. As soon as we arrived to the dock, we were greeted by Juana and there sweet dog chamaka. Juana is the caretaker of the house and she takes great pride in doing so. she keeps everything nice, clean and organized. she is such an amazing cook also. she made us fish and crabs one night and it was probably one of the best meals I've ever had. the property is well kept and maintained by leonardo and looks great all around. we didn't get a chance to meet him but we heard great stories about him. there is so much to do here..we went snorkeling right off the dock and saw some pretty cool fishes and stingrays. we also went snorkeling at the reef and that was truly an amazing site to see. going into the main island was great too, there are a lot of cool little shops to browse around and the people there are really nice.
This was without a doubt one of the best vacations I've been able to take and i hope to go back soon. this is a nice secluded place to be able to relax for a few days and just get away from the normal, everyday life. there is virtually no one else around so if you're looking for a place to get away from everyone , this is definitely the place to go.
Thank you for providing such a beautiful home for everyone to see and for all to enjoy a wonderful vacation.
I don't know if I can explain in words just how special of a place this really is. If you are looking to get away from the daily hustle bustle stress this is the destination for you. I don't normally take the time to write reviews but this place deserves every star and positive word!
The home is beautifully designed and decorated, my favorite part was the arched breezeway equipped with Adirondack chairs where you can sit and enjoy the gentle warm wind that constantly flows off the water. We went kayaking and snorkeling, even right under the dock they have set up rocks and created a little sanctuary for all kinds of fish and sea creatures! Walks up and down the beach, naptime in the hammocks, and collecting sea grapes right from under the front trees were just a few of the simple relaxing pleasures we enjoyed everyday. We also ventured into town one day and explored the open market and shops, everyone in San Pedro is very kind and welcoming.
Perhaps most importantly I must mention the lovely Juana (unfortunately we did not get to meet Leonardo who was out of the country .. next time). What a beautiful person, she welcomed us with open arms as if we were coming home to grandma's house. She helped us catch fish off the dock and prepared them for us for dinner. THE MOST AMAZING FISH I HAVE EVER EATEN. I'm not sure what she did to the fish but it was something magical, so delicious I would recommend this for at least 2-3 nights of your stay! Juana was helpful and kind at every moment, cleaning and cooking and caring for the home as if it were her own. And the little doggie Chimaka they don't come much sweeter than her :)
All in all this was a trip of a lifetime much needed and all expectations were met and went above and beyond! We are already looking at the schedule for next year, yay can't wait to go back!!!
