Both of us grew up in mountain towns but now live in Seattle, WA. We split our free time between San Juan Island and Kona and enjoy scuba, running and pretty much all outdoor activities.

We looked at over 60 homes and when we found this we knew immediately we had found the perfect spot. It is private as it backs up to undeveloped real estate. You wake up to amazing song birds and views as far as you can see. What we love most is you are only minutes from town yet enjoy total privacy in a setting that feels like a resort.
16 foot sliding door creates that indoor/outdoor feeling and the perfect elevation of 450 feet means you almost always have a warm kona breeze flowing through the house. You can enjoy the amazing sunset every night by the pool with a Mai Tai and appetizers on the lanai. We almost always have fresh fish on the barbecue for dinner.
Located in a lovely neighborhood on a beautiful Hawaiian hillside this home is a little piece of heaven. Well maintained grounds landscaped with palm trees, multicolored hibiscus, bougainvillea, bird of paradise, and lime trees surround this tropical escape. A shaded lanai and pool provide stunning views of the Kona coast all in a very private setting. An outdoor sound system makes pool time even more relaxing. The light filled living area offers views of passing cruise ships, sailboats, and parasailing through a long wall of sliding glass doors. Food is easily passed from the kitchen to the outdoor eating area through a sliding window in the large well equipped kitchen. A spacious master bed and bath allow early morning views of bright tropical birds in the garden area. All the comforts of home are found in this little piece of paradise. Sunset is stunning as the sea is turned to shimmering liquid gold. The energy of the property is soul rejuvenating. It is our favorite place to relax, unwind and leave the world behind.
As for particulars the property description was accurate and the property was very clean and well maintained. Customer service was top notch and I absolutely would recommend the property to others and have done so. Restaurants, shopping, and beaches are all within 10 minutes. Don't miss Holy Donuts! They are to die for. We look forward to returning soon.
We just returned from a month long stay at this beautiful house and are already looking forward to going back next year. The house has everything you need to feel at home immediately, and the views are amazing. The property is well maintained and clean, and the grounds and pool are beautiful and also well maintained. Our daughter, who uses a wheelchair, was very comfortable in the house. The bathrooms were accessible and the walk in shower made it easy. Some days we spent just relaxing, while other days we explored all the Big Island has to offer. The house is located in a great spot, with several beaches just down the hill. The owner is great to work with, and the property manager responded immediately to a small issue we had (smoke alarm battery). Can't wait to return!
Our family just got home and already want to go back! I have to agree with almost all of the previous reviews. Our family of 6 absolutely loved the place. I love to cook and with the open large window into lanai I didn't feel left out while the family sat by the pool and played games under the patio. The home is decorated like the best of luxurious hotels. We left beach umbrellas and snorkel equipment in the large patio deck box for the next renters, they had beach chairs and lots of beach towels for us to head to the black or white sand beaches.
We have a few days left of our Kona vacation, but I wanted to write the review while I was here. Lani Kai is a very special place! Literally beautiful!! Most properties angle photos to make the property look bigger and better than it is... Not so with Lani Kai. It is so much bigger and more beautiful than the pictures show, as all other reviewers have mentioned. The house is homey yet luxurious, private yet close to town. We have had the time of our lives! I can't possibly recommend this property higher! We feel blessed and do NOT want to leave!
What a wonderful experience! The views were everything you would expect, and more. The lanai, and pool area, were great for dining, relaxing and enjoying the ocean breezes. Loved having the ocean breezes filtering through the house with all the screens open. Don't know why you would ever use the A/C. Great location for seeing all the BIG Island has to offer. Very close to downtown Kona and the wonderful farms market area. Thanks to Connie for all her help getting us set up for our trip.
We had such a wonderful stay here and felt so comfortable. The view, the pool, the house...everything was great! It is so private as well that we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else; however, the Big Island is so amazing that you have to explore it and leave the house. I highly recommend staying here!
