Enjoy our newly renovated, newly furnished 1-bedroom condo right in the heart of the 'old city' or “vieux-quebec”. The condo is in a charming building from the early 1800's, has a sunken living room and a loft bedroom full of character with original brick walls and old wood beam ceiling. The building is two blocks from chateau frontenac and st. Lawrence river, and is surrounded by cobble stone roads within a quaint old france-like village setting.
The condo sleeps 2 people in the loft bedroom and has a sofa bed in the sunken living room for an additional 2 people. The condo is fully equipped so all you need are your groceries, toiletries and voila, you have a place to live! Driving is not required as you are in the center of the action within walking distance to dining, shopping, museums, ferry rides and the list goes on.
I agree whole heartedly with all the positive comments already written about this apartment. My husband and I were very comfortable here for a weeks stay in Quebec City at the end of March 2016. We have stayed in other VRBOs and this one is the best! Cameron (the owner) has thought of every detail to make his guests comfortable! He was also very kind to rearrange our vacation dates, when we had a schedule conflict on our end with our original dates. If you are looking for a clean, very comfortable, conveniently located, reasonably priced place and with old world charm to stay in Quebec City, stay here! If we return to Quebec City, we will stay here again.
My husband and I were delighted with this rental unit upon arrival and grew to love it more every day, such that it panged us to leave after our 10-night stay. The layout of the apartment, with its living room, dining nook/kitchen/bathroom and loft bedroom on 3 different levels served to create both a sense of overall spaciousness as well as of coziness within each distinct space. The location is awesome –peaceful, yet convenient to all the Quebec City sites. Every mod con is offered, yet you live embraced by ancient walls. There are thoughtful touches throughout to ensure comfort, from space heaters to extra bedding and snuggly throws. (We brought the final episodes of Downton Abbey with us on DVD and enjoyed them while curled on the sofa in front of the terrific HD TV.) We were here during the second and third weekends of Winter Carnival, in the perfect position to come and go for warm-ups in between the many outdoor activities. Plenty of great restaurants, gourmet grocery stores and bakeries are within walking distance, which made it easy to eat in or out according to our mood. The apartment is perfectly-proportioned for a single or couple, but a family could comfortably add a child on the living room sofa bed—two would be a squeeze; there are only three seats at the dining table. In summary, it would be hard to find a better combination of comfort, value and location for a stay in Quebec City.
Our visit to Quebec was to celebrate our 25th anniversary in the city where we honeymooned and also celebrated out 5th anniversary.
The location was perfect. It felt like we were really living in Quebec. My wife cooked a chicken one night and I cooked all our breakfasts there except the last morning. The kitchen was well equipped and very functional. We especially liked the breakfast nook right over the sidewalk.
The living room and bedroom were very comfortable, and good places to relax after all our walks (especially up the hill from the grocers!).
We had a lovely time in Quebec; did the boat tour and drove around Ile D'Orleans, and especially enjoyed another lunch (after 20 years) at the restaurant Le Moulin, the cheese maker, the casis vintner (returned home with several bottles), and having the best mackintosh apples I've had since moving from western New York state when I was only 21.
We enjoyed all the restaurants we went to, but especially Aux Anciens Canadiens, Portofino, and Bello (which we liked the best).
Cameron and Marjo were terrific to work with. We couldn't be happier with the entire experience.
Wow, location is absolutely and my wife had a sprained ankle when we arrived and the location saved her. The condo is spotless and literally has everything that you could need. We cooked on a number of occasions and the only think that I would suggest is a cover for the frying pan. The kitchen stuff is not garage sale stuff, this is all high end knives, pans, etc. The breakfast nook or area (not sure what you call it) has windows on 3 sides and you'll literally sitting 15 ft over the sidewalk with a great view in all directions. Bed was very comfortable, living room very well done and comfortable also. Nice tv with cable (although I would have like some more sports channels). Marjolaine was very accommodating when we arrived a bit earlier than expected and also meeting us for departure. Two suggestions, one easy, one not so easy: Easy - none of the literature in paper or online for Quebec City adequately describes how wonderful the bus system is. We tried to figure it out for 3 days before we gave in and went to the tourist info center( a few blocks away and very well run) and they told us about bus 21 which takes you everywhere that you'd want to go with the exception of bus 800 which takes you to Montmorency falls for $3,25 cdn each way. We didn't rent a car and planned to do it all on foot. Don't feel bad, my son didn't tell us either and he was just in Quebec City 2 years ago! Not as easy; we happened to be there during a mid 80 degree heat spell and it gets pretty hot in there especially in the eating area. I'm originally from upstate NY and I know that days like these are rare and it's hard to justify air conditioning but I really thin that if you just had some inside shutters or blinds to keep the afternoon sun out would probably do the trick with all of the cieling fans that you have installed. Neither my wife nor I would hesitate to visit this beautiful city again and I guarantee that there isn't a better place to stay than this condo for the price. We sincerely thank you for everything; a wonderful 9 days!
Our family arrived in Quebec City just before Christmas and stayed for a week. The condo is clean and well equipped. The breakfast nook window is a wonderful place to sit and read as the horse drawn carriages travel the street below. Everything you could possibly need is within a short walk - restaurants, markets, site-seeing. Here are some of our favorite recommendations: Walk a few blocks to tour the fort and learn about the history of the city. Enjoy some crepes Casse-Crepe Breton - YUMMY! Take an evening ghost led tour of the city with Les Promenades Fantomes! Eat a bison burger or caribou sausage at Aux Anciens Canadiens! Pick up coffee and a pastry at Paillard. Davids Tea - amazing! Christmas Market at the port. Carols on Rue du Petit-Champlain. Midnight mass at Notre-Dame du Quebec. Skiing at La Massif about 1.5 hours drive but well worth it. There is so much to see and do that we couldn't get to it all in the week!
This condo made a wonderful home base for a week of adventure and fun. Cameron and Marjo are wonderful hosts!
(One little warning ...the steps to the loft are a little steep and the washer/dryer is down 2 flights of steps so if you have any mobility issues that might be something to consider.)
The apartment was everything it was promised to be. The interior is newly remodeled and area was within walking distances to all the sites. The owner was very informative and his concierge was most helpful. We parked in a garage two blocks away and the fee was very reasonable. The apartment was clean, quiet and very comfortable. We made several dinners at the apartment and had breakfast everyday before taking on the frigid Christmas weather. We toured the town for Christmas week, taking a food tour the first day to get a lay of the land. Despite a good size snow storm getting around was easy as the city workers do know how to handle this weather. We are planning to return when the flowers are in bloom and hope that this location is again available.
Québec city has a truly unique ambiance, from breathtaking settings to romantic hideaways, each more seductive than the last. Those who are entranced by former centuries will be charmed by restaurants tucked into homes dating from the 18th and 19th centuries in old québec city and the portneuf area, on the beaupré coast, or in ancestral homes on the île d’orléans.
There are many art galleries, bistros and patisseries to explore and the experience can be a complete gastronomic delight! The local market is only a 10 minute walk and you can shop for your favorite European treats, vegetables, herbs and meats to bring them back to the condo to enjoy. You will discover boutiques such as you rarely find anywhere else. Arts and crafts, collectors' items, designers clothing, confectioner's shops, glass-working factories, it's the ideal place to come up with an original gift, an unusual decorative object or a distinctive piece of clothing, in a setting filled with history, strolling through narrow cobblestone streets between centuries-old houses. Between your discoveries, you can relax in a café, a restaurant or a bistro, and quietly enjoy all that this unusual place has to offer.
Quebec city is beautiful all year long and especially amazing for winter lovers: enjoy le massif for a European experience for both skiing and dining and some of the most spectacular views, and mt. Ste. Anne only a 20 minute drive away and great for kids.
