'Wildwood in the Pines' is a rustic log home with some elegant and unique features located in Jay, NY. This cozy cabin has pine interior, heated tile floors, and a beautiful rock fireplace. A fully equipped kitchen, living and dining area, loft, two large bedrooms, family room with rustic bar, laundry room, two full bathrooms and a large deck makes this an ideal four season getaway for a family or a group of friends.
'Wildwood in the Pines' is located less than 9 miles from Whiteface Mountain and only a 20 mile scenic ride to the Village of Lake Placid and the Olympic Center Complex. Montreal, Canada and Burlington, Vermont are less than two hours away (great day trips!)
The High Peaks area of the Adirondacks offers many activities such as hiking, golf, biking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, ice skating, as well as shopping and fine dining in nearby Lake Placid. Fish in the Ausable River or swim in the famous 'Jay Swimming Hole'!
This quiet spot is also ideal for that much needed rest and relaxation. Read a book on the deck, take a walk, or relax in the whirlpool tub.
We've been loving and coming to the Adirondacks High Peaks since 1993. Wish it was earlier, since it's become one of our favorite destinations.
The cabin is simply fantastic. Well maintained, inside and out, it's inviting the minute you turn up the driveway. All of the furniture and decorations are Adirondack themed and put you in the mood for your stay. It was so quiet and peaceful during our stay which really added to the whole experience, since we live just outside Boston in Salem, which is always crowded with tourists year round. Lake Placid, Ausable Forks, Whiteface Mountain and Keene are just a short drive away. We love to hike, and we were close to all of our trailheads, regardless of whether they were at the ADK Loj, in Keene, or on the way to Lake Placid.
We simply can't say enough about how much we enjoyed Wildwood. Other places have served their purpose as a base for our vacation, but here we truly felt at home.
What a beautiful home! Set back in the woods on a very quiet street. It's just incredible. The home is very clean, has everything you need and is very comfortable! My fiancé and I stayed for 2 nights with our two dogs and had an amazing time!! We were able to go to Lake Champlain, took the ferry to Vermont, Lake Placid, White Face Mountain, enjoyed many cute shops in Keene, and a fire in the fire pit at night! Will return for sure!
I stayed at "the Pines" with my girlfriend over summer and as soon as we saw the place in person we knew it was a winner. A beautiful chalet in the Adirondacks, 20 minutes from Lake Placid and on a quiet road. There are neighbors close by, but privacy was never an issue. And the house itself is brilliant -- well appointed with slate tile floors, cosy wooden interior with a distinctly contemporary twist. Entry on the ground floor, where you're greeted by a bar and an area to leave your dirty boots. I can only imagine it's even more perfect in winter (especially if you bring yourself a personal bartender). The kitchen is stocked with all the essential pots, pans and utensils. The bedroom upstairs was comfortable and we made use of the fire pit out front. There's a balcony that's perfect for watching the stars come in. Basically, if this were my own place there's little if anything I'd do differently.
My husband and I met up with another couple here at this property (two couples in our 50's) for a summer weekend and it was a fantastic choice. Our friends brought their dog and the setup of the home lent itself perfectly to our needs with a full bedroom, bathroom, and living space on ground level for easy trips outdoors and the second bedroom/bathroom combo on the second floor for good separation.
The kitchen/dining/living space on the main floor was very comfortable and the home was very well maintained, lovely, and tasteful. There was an additional seating area on the top floor which was great for hanging out and watching the Olympics! This space could sleep several more as well. The main floor deck was a wonderful spot to hang out and visit and there was a great fire pit we used and visited over on another evening.
The home is nice and private and had good access to Lake Placid and Keene. We had a terrific time in large part because this home. Lorri is very responsive and wonderful to deal with.
I highly recommend this home for your vacation needs.
We loved our stay in this beautiful home! It was in a great location for the Ironman race. It was close enough to the race venue, but far enough away to feel like we could get away from it all. The house included all amenities and was very clean and comfortable. We especially loved relaxing on the deck and around the fire pit. Many great family memories were made here!
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Wildwood in the Pines. Lorri, the property owner, was really great to deal with and always responded promptly. The property was very well maintained, fully equipped, and thoughtfully decorated. It was the perfect layout for 2 couples or 2 families. Although it was a little bit of a drive to the Lake Placid area, there was a very nice park with a fishing pond about 5 minutes away. I would definitely recommend this property and would love to stay again!
