The property is really convenient location! There are many restaurants, shops, convenience stores, cafe, and close to Yanaka Ginza!
Yanaka Ginza is the center of commerce of Yanaka area and is prized for its atmosphere which brings you back to the Edo Period. At 175 meters long and 5-6 meters wide, the street is packed with 70 shops. It is very interesting spot!
You can go to 'Tokyo staion' in 7 minutes by Subway Chiyoda Line and Marunouchi Line, 'Omotesandou' in 19 minutes by Chiyoda Line and go to 'Ueno' in 8 minutes by Subway Chiyoda Line and JR Yamanote Line.
You can also go to Ueno Park in 20 minutes, Ueno station in 25 minutes on foot.

Please check it!!
Enjoy life in Tokyo!
This was a perfect place for our family of five. The house is located down a quiet street near convenience stores, small restaurants and a bank branch that will change your money. You won't see many other tourists here, but the subway stop is close to get you to the busier parts of Tokyo. Hisae met us the house, which was clean and comfortable as described. Small by western standards (with steep stairs!) but very livable. Highly recommended.
OTOME house was convenient in location, clean, and had everything we needed for a family vacation with an infant.
The house was 4 min walk from the Nezu Shrine which we visited for New Years. Hisae the property manager was a wonderful resource of information and helpful when planning our trip. We would definitely return again!
We just came back from Japan. We had a nice vacation around Yanesen area. My sister lives in Sendagi so this place worked out quite well.
So many restaurants and stores around this place so you don't have to cook yourself but I cooked some breakfast everyday because the kitchen was very well equipped.
We love visiting Nezu shrine. The color of the tree was wonderful in November. I am highly recommending you to visit there. It was about 10min. walk from this place.
We are a merried couple with a 4 years old child. My kid was managed going up and down stairs pretty well but if you have a younger child you need to be very cautious about the stairs. ( Stairs were quite steep. ) We had a great time staying here. We would like to stay again next time.
We had a wonderful stay at Yanaka, and look forward to our return!
Despite arriving 1.5 hours late for our scheduled meet up time, we found our host, Hisae, waiting for us with an open smile and willingness to help answer all our questions and get us settled in, thank you Hisae!
Yanaka is nestled in a comfortable part of Ueno, with easy access to bakeries, restaurants and markets, all just around the corner, with everything you will need to experience Tokyo as a local.
We made daily use of the VRBO kitchen - not only to save money, but to sample local delicacies, and prepare food for our 3 year old, whose diet is less adventuresome.
In order to lessen the weight in our luggage we carried fewer clothes and used the onsite washer/dryer. Like all the other VRBO accommodations, we found it to be clean, well-maintained, and easy to understand with operating instructions in Yanaka's handbook.
Among neighborhood highlights were the walks along Shinobazu Dori on our way to Ueno park's zoo and museums and strolls thru Rinkoji shops experiencing the welcoming warm spirit of the Japanese people.
Thanks so much for providing us with a place to not only vacation, but live as a resident. We highly recommend this VRBO to any travelers!
We stayed for one week and had a really great time at the house. Everything is perfectly clean and the staff was really helpfull and offered us a great service! The location of the house is very good, just few minutes walking to the next metro station.
I can really recommend the accomodation for your visit in tokio, you won't regret it ;). Ever again...
We stayed at Otome for 3 weeks and really loved it. It fit our family of 4 Australians very nicely. Just watch your heads if you are tall - some of the doorways are low and be careful on the stairs as they are very steep and narrow - we got used to them in no time though.
The house is clean and well equipped and the wifi was great to have (doesnt reach to the 3rd floor though). We got a wifi portable rental for going out with and used that on the 3rd floor so it was ok - we were all online! You can also get free wifi at all 7/11 and Family Mart, Starbucks, Macdonalds etc for quick email checks or skyping each other on the road. The house has plenty of power points for all of your devices (don't forget the adapters!)
There is aircon on each level and we found it very comfortable in mid winter. The entrance is a bit drafty though, we used our coats as insulation.
The neighbourhood is great with many restaurants and cafes, little shops and many temples. Our favourite take-out was a diner that you press the buttons and order the food - no need for Japanese just look at the pictures!
Sendagi station is nice and close and you can easily catch the train to all areas of Tokyo. Easy walking distance to Yanaka Ginza which is a great little shopping street for souvenirs and authentic food. We found a new little bar on the way to Nezu Station called the Local. We spent New Years Eve there - not cheap but very cozy. Another cute cafe is Toast Bread Cafe (the owner has good English) - also has clothes and shopping in it.
Hisae was a wonderful owner/agent - always available and very attentive. We soon ran out of space for our garbage (a science in itself to sort it out) and she let us know where we could store it. (Watch out for the cats and crows on garbage morning!)
We were told that the house used to be a restaurant - which was useful to know as we had a couple of people knock on the door either thinking it was a restaurant or looking for the little coffee shop next door - GiGi Coffee and Bindery (great coffee but opens late so if you need morning coffee go to Yanaka Coffee near Sendagi St or brew your own (coffee from convenience store). There is a supermarket and chemist also near Sendagi St. The supermarket has good cheese and dairy and mostly all you would need - even found some New Zealand Sav Blanc!
Hisae also let us have a late check-out which was a godsend as we didnt fly out until 8pm. Really great service. Highly recommended.
Yanesen is the collective name for the Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi neighbourhoods. It’s a great area to explore on foot and see the remnants of the shitamachi atmosphere of good old Tokyo—the traditional Japanese townscape and the friendliness and hospitality of the residents living there—all in the heart of the metropolis. This course takes a stroll through the classic shopping street, the symbolic mud wall of Kannon-ji Temple, and a famous shrine and gardens.
