Pacific Grove House Rental Photos and Description

Three Bedroom (Four Beds), Two Bath Home for Up to 5 Guests.

This beautiful three story, recently remodeled Victorian home (originally built in 1902) transports you back to the 19th century while providing all the amenities and comforts of the 21st.

The Historic Lavender House is centrally located on a quiet, peaceful street in Pacific Grove's historic Retreat District. No need to drive, the finest restaurants and shops in downtown Pacific Grove are just down the street and Monterey Bay’s world famous Aquarium and Lover's Point are only a brief stroll away. For the kids, there is the family-friendly Caledonia Park right around the corner.

Lover's Point and the newly renovated Beach House restaurant is just a short stroll away. The Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Links and the Point Pinos Lighthouse are located immediately to the north, the Asilomar Conference Grounds and State Beach are found just as easily to the west, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, and Fisherman’s Wharf are located one-half mile to the south. 17 Mile Drive and Pebble Beach are just around the corner, Monterey’s historic downtown district, Carmel’s world-famous shopping, and the Pebble Beach golf links are all within a few minutes drive. Carmel Valley, Point Lobos State Reserve, and Big Sur are all an easy drive south, providing your friends and family with stunning vistas along California’s most beautiful coastal highway.

The Historic Lavender House accommodates up to 5 guests and has three bedrooms offering high quality 'Sleep Number' beds. The two primary bedrooms each offer queen beds and the open loft bedroom provides one twin day bed and one trundle bed. The second floor deck opens out to soothing views of Pacific Grove and Monterey Bay. The third floor loft offers even grander vistas of the surrounding area.

The living room includes a High Definition Flat Panel TV, Tivo DVR, Netflix, Pandora, and a Blu-Ray player (along with a library of movies for your viewing). Wireless high-speed Internet access is available throughout, and the kitchen is fully stocked and outfitted with modern appliances, cooking utensils, plates, glasses and silverware. A high-capacity washer and dryer is available for your use, as is the attached single car garage.

You are likely to see deer passing by your front porch in the early morning hours or catch a glimpse of seals and otters during your stroll to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Walk, run, or bicycle along the coastal bike trail as you make your way to Cannery Row or downtown historic Monterey. Championship golf, whale-watching, hiking, biking, wine-tasting, shopping, dining, kayaking, first-class spas, breath-taking nature… it’s all here waiting for you!

Step back to a slower time. Combine the comforts of the present while experiencing the craftsmanship of the past by staying at the Historic Lavender House, the most beautiful Victorian in Pacific Grove.

The Historic Lavender House is licensed by the City of Pacific Grove as a Short Term Rental (License #0141)

About Terry Winston

Here we are in front of our Victorian Home Christmas 2012!

We love Pacific Grove, the Monterey Bay area, and the beauty of Victorian Homes and want to provide our guests a relaxing and happy experience in the area we love so much.

Terry Winston purchased this house in 2012

Why Terry Winston chose Central Coast California

The Historic Lavender House is a charming and comfortable Victorian very close to downtown Pacific Grove and surrounding attractions.

What makes this house unique

Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee on the sunny front porch, or take a short stroll downtown to the local bookstores and coffee shops! We recommend dinner at the Red House Cafe, Jennine's, or Passion Fish; lunch at the Beach House (Lover's Point), Red House Cafe, or Pacific Thai; and breakfast at Toastie's... all within two short blocks from the Historic Lavender House!

Better Than the Description and Equal to the Great Reviews

  • 5 of 5

What if the place is not as nice as past guests have reported and the pictures show? You never really know until you see for yourself. All the "what ifs" quickly disappeared when we arrived and did our quick walk through. The stellar reviews were accurate and the owner's descriptions were precise. It is hard to capture and relate the attention to detail we found like the period style push button light switches ornate door hinges, copper bathroom sinks and elaborate crown molding. We are two 70 year old couples who have been good friends since high school who have travelled all over the world and who have become accustomed to the finer things in life. The Lavender House fit our aesthetic. Both of the men in our foursome are accomplished chefs who prefer to cook in rather than dine out. With some help from nearby Trader Joe's, Safeway, and a well equipped kitchen, we could not have been more pleased. My wife and I lived in Pacific Grove just a few blocks away at Lover's Point during my time at Fort Ord in the very early 70's. We enjoyed full views of the the breaking waves but the Lavender House has a much better location away from all traffic noise of Ocean View Blvd. and is just steps from downtown Pacific Grove where I could grab the morning paper from the book store and piping hot bread and croissants from Pavel's Bakeri each morning. The Lavender House is an away-from-home experience done right. We will be back!

Beautiful Victorian

  • 5 of 5

This Victorian had all of the touches of the period to be enjoyed while also having modern conveniences. Right in town yet just blocks away from LoversPoint. There is a park for the kids just 1/2 a block away. We weren't in the house that much as we were attending a family wedding. We did enjoy the tub downstairs! There are stairs up to the second floor & a stair/ladder up to the charming third floor. Our youngest slept up there so mobility wasn't a problem. We would suggest curtains in the upstairs window for lighter sleepers? Parking was tight but there is a street one house over as well as places at the park. Enjoy the easily walkable downtown area, The Grove Market, The Red House for breakfasts, visit the Natural History Museum, The Farmers Market & best of all, the walking trail! We had a wonderful experience here. Be prepared to be charmed by this period house.

Walking distance to shops and restaurants.

  • 5 of 5

The four of us (2 couples) had the pleasure of staying at Terry Winston's Lavender House in Pacific Grove. This was our first time at Lavender House, a very comfortable Victorian home that provided close walking distance to several of our favorite restaurants (five minute walk!) and to the beautiful coastline. Throughout our five night stay we appreciated the quiet surroundings, sleep-number beds, well stocked kitchen, and off-street parking for our two cars. Really, there was nothing lacking and Terry has done a great job ensuring that her guests are comfortable.

Perfect PG home!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this wonderful home and loved it. Everything you want in PG is an easy walk away, while your car is safely tucked away in the garage. The house is fully stocked with wonderful lavender toiletries and the kitchen has pretty much everything you need to cook - dishes, pans, spices, coffee and teas . . . this was definitely the best rental we have ever stayed in.

Do be aware that the stairs are steep, if that matters to you. Otherwise, I would be ready to move in and never leave.

Thank you, Terry, for a great stay!

Wonderful Home-Away-from-Home

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time at the Lavender House! It was so clean, well maintained, organized and well appointed with all the things we needed and more. Terry left us with perfect instructions and information. Close to walk to the beach, town, park for the kids, etc. It worked out so well for us. We will definitely be back!
