Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom / 1 Bath / Fireplace/ Fire Pit/ Grill / Deck

Welcome to Mountain Vista at Stone Haven, a charming hideaway that is the ideal setting for your Acadia vacation. Nestled on top of a quiet mountain, this cozy and rustic cabin is tucked away from the rush of traffic and bustle of downtown, yet is very close to Acadia National Park, the ocean and Bar Harbor’s tourist area.

The cabin is completely furnished, and includes a charcoal grill and well-equipped kitchen (including a lobster pot!) so you can prepare your own meals. Enjoy the woodsy setting while you sip your coffee from an Adirondack chair on the large wraparound deck.

The stone fireplace makes for romantic evenings, and the sliding glass doors allow for gentle breezes. At night, enjoy your very own fire pit in the backyard, perfect for stargazing and making s’mores. Two bedrooms and a sleeper sofa are inviting and warm retreats after a long day exploring.

Whether you spend your time relaxing or doing any number of outdoor activities, such as biking, hiking or kayaking, returning to Mountain Vista each day will feel like coming home. We thank you for considering Mountain Vista for your Maine escape!

About Donna and Dave

We are the happy owners of Mountain Vista at Stone Haven. Before we became the owners of this property, we were summer renters at Stone Haven, and returned year after year for its simple beauty and solitude. We are looking forward to sharing our home with you and hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Thank you for considering us. ~ Donna & Dave

Why Donna and Dave chose Bar Harbor

We live in a very busy city during the rest of the year, and the peace and quiet of the setting at Stone Haven really speaks to us. We are amazed how dark it gets at night and how many stars you can see. We do not have that in the city, that is for sure!

What makes this cabin unique

Our favorite activities are sitting by the fire -- whether it's the fireplace in the living room, or the fire pit outside. We've boiled many lobsters, and probably grilled one too many hot dogs. We cannot imagine a deck without an Adirondack chair, so comfortable chairs were some of our first investments. We love how close Acadia is to the cottage. The park has so many great hikes. If you are a photographer or nature-lover, it's hard not to be impressed. Downtown Bar Harbor is great, too, for sight-seeing, shopping and if you'd like to take a cruise. And, of course, we were thrilled that our dog was allowed to stay with us when we rented, so when we bought this place, we wanted to ensure it was dog-friendly for our guests. We wish you a wonderful and memorable vacation!

What an amazing place

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is perfect, there were two couples in our group and we spent a week in the spring of 2017 exploring the area with the cabin as our home base. It is perfectly located to not be far from any point on the island and park, which makes seeing everything a breeze. the cabin itself was perfect we had enough room to make some meals and relax in the early mornings before heading out and unwind after a day on the trails or exploring the town. It was a bit chilly and damp out for outdoor fires, but the indoor fireplace lets us have the same experience on a smaller scale. When we come back to Acadia we will for sue stay here again. :)

Perfect little cabin in the woods.

  • 5 of 5

My husband, sister, and our dog stayed in this cute and cozy cabin for a week while visiting Bar Harbor. We had a perfect amount of room for 3 people plus a big dog. The cabin was perfectly located. It was close enough to the Bar Harbor city center for us to drive in each day, but it was far enough away that we didn't have to worry about traffic and noise. The cabin was quiet and serene. I would definitely recommend this for a relaxing getaway.

Clean and cozy dog friendly cabin

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I couldn't be more happy with our stay at Mt Vista! The house was cozy, well-equipped for cooking, and very clean. We were thrilled to be able to bring our one year old German shepherd with us to such a dog friendly area! And we were pleasantly surprised that there was absolutely NO animal odor in the cabin. I returned home and recommended all my friends go there with their pups! The location was fantastic, so close to the best spots. And for the early rise to witness sunrise at Cadillac Mountain, it was awesome to be so close to the entrance! How awesome Donna and Dave share this with everyone!

Perfect Cozy Cabin!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Such a perfect setting for a getaway! Cabin was very close to Acadia and to the town of Bar Harbor. It was a very comfortable and cozy cabin to come back to at the end of the day. We were also very thankful that the owners are pet friendly and allowed us to have our dogs along with us. I would HIGHLY recommend this cabin to anyone!! Such a wonderful time! Would definitely return!!!!

Perfect!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to find the house to be exactly as described and pictured. The house was comfortable and perfect for our week at Acadia. We were maybe five minutes from the Cadillac entrance to Acadia and a ten minute drive at most to down town Bar Harbor- perfect location! The trail for Connors Nubble is a five minute drive down the road (if that) at the carridge road parking- great trail and SO CLOSE!!! The cabin had everything we needed to make lobsters and steamers, the grill was great, and the fire pit was perfect for smores and relaxing after a day of hiking. Plenty of blankets and even pans to make blueberry cobbler! Plenty of room for my hubby and I and our two corgis- even on a rainy afternoon - comfortable and cozy!

Stonehaven cabin

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was just perfect for what we were looking for. We loved the location and the fire pit. We broke up our vacation so two of us were there for half the week, then later all 4 of us with the dog for the rest of the week and it was still comfortable. Also the book with all the area activities was nice - we enjoyed the Improv Acadia show and Nature cruise in Bar Harbor. We'd definitely stay there again - thanks so much!
