Warm And Inviting 3BR 2BA W/ Fabulous Views Situated Close To All Amenities

Mountain Postcard is a cozy 3 bedroom, 2 bath home that backs up to South Lake Tahoe's most beautiful meadow. In the meadow the Upper Truckee River splits and runs right through the meadow from two different directions making a photo worthy view! To top it off the horizon is dominated by a 180 degree view of snow-capped mountains. Our cozy home comfortably accommodates a maximum of 6 guests.

Situated right in town and secluded for privacy you will find direct southern exposure enabling you to enjoy the changing colors of the day. Relax and curl up in the comfort of our comfortable sofas to read while enjoying the meadow view or hike straight out from the house to breath in the fresh mountain air. Our surrounding trees have numerous species of birds jumping and flying with colors and calls.

Our focus is to provide every comfort for your stay. Our home is outfitted with high quality linens, towels as well as comfortable beds and furniture. Adding to the coziness and warmth, the walls and ceilings are finished with aged clear-heart redwood and knotty pine. You will also find a gas fireplace insert providing the sought after mountain ambiencewithout the work of building a fire.

The kitchen adjoins the dining area and offers the same tremendous views while you prepare breakfast or pack a lunch for the days outing. You will find all the cooking utensils, pots and pans as well as paper goods, herbs and spices and condiments you may need.

We also have a teak table, chairs and gas grill on the back deck overlooking the meadow and river facing south.

There are numerous restaurants from delicious local taquerias to 5-star for dining in or taking out if you want to spend your time away from the stove. Our back deck provides a place to lounge in the summer months and a short walk out the back gate offers a walk along the river.

In the summer, we are close to numerous beaches, biking and hiking trails as well as several golf courses to choose from. In winter you are less than 10 minutes to Heavenly Ski Resort. Additional ski options you will find are Sierra-at Tahoe 15 miles up the pass or Kirkwood a beautiful 45 minute drive over Luther Pass and through Hope Valley.

Visiting in the Spring is beautiful as the wildflowers bloom and the trees show off their light green array. Autumn brings with it a myriad of fall color that makes some hiking trails sincerely glow.

We are located just 10 minutes from the California/Nevada state line where you will find a variety of top-notch entertainment options from restaurants to music and comedy shows, casinos and cinemas. Leaving our home in either direction you will find accessible grocery stores and specialty shops to suit your every need.

About V & Nancy Altman

Our family of four has enjoyed our mountain home as a get away for decades with many memories as well as romantic weekends for just the two of us. With our children now grown and the balancing of our schedule demands, we have decided we would like to share the joy that we have had at our cozy mountain home with others. Our house is outfitted as our primary home with all creature comforts. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we have and make it a yearly travel/holiday tradition.

V & Nancy Altman purchased this house in 1991

Why V & Nancy Altman chose South Lake Tahoe

It's like walking into a jewel in the woods right within the conveniences of South Lake Tahoe. We looked far and wide for months for a unique home for our family. The day we found this home, we opened the front door to reveal the treasure inside of wood walls, beam ceilings, mountain and meadow views and above all, warmth, character and charm. We looked no further!

What makes this house unique

The house is conveniently located in town and feels like a private cabin in the woods. When closing the front door behind you, you will be in the forest among the meadows, mountains views and Upper Truckee River at the back door. We have suited our house with quality furniture to make comfort the top priority for our guests stay. The kitchen is fully stocked with ample utensils and a nice big dining table viewing the meadow for beautiful sunrises and especially, sunsets.

Very clean and cozy.

  • 5 of 5

We had not been to Tahoe in a few years and we were long overdue. We stayed here with our two teenage kids and it was the perfect place for us. It was clean, comfortable and stocked with just about everything we needed. Eating meals and cooking in kitchen was a wonderful experience with the beautiful meadow and mountain views surrounding us outside the back window and a big deck to sit and take in all the beauty. We would definitely come back to this lovely home again.

Great House, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 3 days/2 nights with three other friends. The house was well maintained, the kitchen was stocked with nearly everything you would need to cook with (only thing I can think of really lacking were tongs, unless I overlooked it), and most importantly, the house was exceptionally CLEAN!

Location was excellent; about 15 minutes from the Nevada border and 5 minutes away from the lake and establishments where you can rent boats/jet skis/etc. 5-10 minutes east on Lake Tahoe Boulevard, you'll find grocery and plenty of restaurants.

Highly recommended!

Breathtaking !!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at your lovely home very much. The home was found very well presented as stated on the line, even nicer in person. Beautiful, clean and well taking care of. It was close to many beaches, restaurants and recreational activities. We would love to return to this rental anytime in the future.

De Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The vacation was awesome! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. The view was spectacular from the back window. The kitchen was fully stocked and the barbecue was ready to go. We had six people in our party and the rooms were comfortable. We were close to marinas and restaurants which made it very nice. We will definitely consider staying here again.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this home for a family weekend to celebrate a birthday. The home was very comfortable, well appointed and an excellent value for the price, especially compared to hotels in the area. The kitchen was fully stocked if you want to cook, and close to restaurants if you don't. The view from the back of the house was incredible!

We were close to all the fun things to do, (parasailing, dinner cruise, adventure pass to heavenly ski area, zephyr cove) but the home was quiet, private, comfortable and relaxing for the times we wanted to just kick back.

The owners, V and Nancy were great about communicating with us throughout the entire process, and everything was as the descriptions said it would be. They were incredibly prompt about refunding the cleaning deposit. I'd highly recommend this place and we will plan to stay here again if we find ourselves in Tahoe again!!
