Great place and beautiful country!

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend this winter. We had everything we needed to enjoy the down time, the beautiful area and thought the cabin was very comfortable, and tastefully decorated. You won't be disappointed!!!

Great, cozy cabin!

  • 4 of 5

Overall we loved this cabin and definitely would like to go back! We were a little disappointed that the description mentioned a fire pit and we brought our own wood and all the fixings for s'mores for the kids and there wasn't one. Also, the swing in the picture is on a completely different property, down the road. There were also some pillowcases that had hair on them upon arrival, but there were plenty of other clean linens in master bedroom to switch them out. All those 1st impressions aside, we had a great time. Beds were comfortable, fireplace was cozy, kitchen stocked with essentials for basic cooking. The neighbors (and nearby horses!) were friendly. Location is just 20 minutes from Luray (grocery store, restaurants) and Skyline drive for great views and hikes.

Wish we knew some things before we arrived.

  • 3 of 5

The cabin itself was cute and cozy. Our stay was average. Some things to note:

There were no directions left for us, so we didn't know how to access the river, so we asked a neighbor who told us of a location that was not within walking distance and also was not the best location on the river (muck and rocks to get into the water, nowhere to launch a boat or anything like that).

The cabin is very secluded, after you pull of the main road it's about 3 miles on a dirt road to access it. It's in the middle of nowhere and closest things are 20 minutes away (like Walmart, Food Lion, etc.). The neighbors keep a watchful eye and as I took a walk the day after we arrived I was stopped by a neighbor asking me if I was lost because they “don't get strangers around these parts” often. I would not recommend for single females to visit this particular location.

The kitchen was not fully stocked, it had only the basics, and one pot to cook in that was scratched.

There is tons of wildlife (deer in the yard when we woke up, rabbits, bucks on the side of the road).

The place wasn't as clean as we hoped, lots of dust, cobwebs, and the blanket on one of the bunk beds had some white residue on it (we didn't use it and just put it to the side). Knowing that we paid a cleaning fee for the cabin and arriving to have it not as clean as we hoped wasn't great, especially since there is a “Cleaning Tips” box on the bar (I'm already paying for cleaning of the cabin).

Normal toiletries that we thought would be there (like soap in the shower) was not.

The beds were EXTREMELY hard and uncomfortable. I ended up buying a mattress topper at Walmart to make it more bearable, but everyone in my party did not sleep well.

The views were not very good, we really didn't have much of a view at all from the house.

They have “indoor fireplace” listed, but it is not an actual fireplace, it's a fake one.

Overall, our stay was fine, but we would not stay here again. The cabin is tastefully decorated.

Beyond our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is wonderful! We will come back! The bedding & furniture were very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. We loved having a laundry room. The views of the mountains were serene. It was so quiet & peaceful. Perfect place to reach Skyline Drive, Luray, Harrisonburg, etc. The White Oak Lavendar Farm nearby was amazing!
