Excellent apartment in a great location
We stayed here for a weekend as two couples celebrating our birthdays. The apartment is spacious and the balcony a great bonus, particularly for the smokers of the party. We were met at the apartment and it was no trouble that we arrived at 21:30 on a Friday evening. We took a taxi from the airport to be quick but it was quite expensive at 65€. The location of the apartment is great with Javastraat a short walk away with a great choice of bars and restaurants and the beautiful Oosterpark about 20 minutes away which was a haven in the 30 degree heat on Sunday. The tram stop was 2 minutes from the apartment and it took 20-30 minutes to get in to the centre. The apartment was also stocked with drinks and snacks and coffee pods for the Dolce Gusto coffee machine which was a thoughtful touch. I would definitely stay again if visiting Amsterdam.
Comforts of home.
Market was right down the street. Neighborhood was very family oriented but there was noise in the street by night owls who apparently party in the wee hours of the morning. Beer and coffee were stocked for our convenience since the market closes at 9 pm. Owner was very accommodating and available by phone. He let us drop off our bags early before check-in time. Toilet area was very small and needs ventilation.
Local Neighborhood Gem
We absolutely loved staying in this apartment. There was a very nice family room next to a wonderful modern kitchen. Two bedrooms and bathroom with shower/tub and another one with toilet. Also had a washing machine.
All the amenities you need as in coffee maker, tea pot, microwave, dishwasher and oven.
It was walking distance to two nice grocery stores and also great restaurants too.
It was nice at the end of the day to take the tram home and be dropped off so close to the apartment. Also, nice to escape the crowds of the inner parts of Amsterdam.
Yaya, the owner, took us around the neighborhood and answered any questions and was always a text message away if we had further questions. He was prompt in meeting us at our said arrival time.
We loved Amsterdam and staying at this apartment was part of what made our trip amazing.
I would give this place 100 stars, if I could!
Where do I begin? Yaya met us and welcomed us to his home. It is lovely. Yes, there are 2 sets of stairs, but we are in Amsterdam. It is to be expected. We were in a nice, quiet, safe neighborhood, with easy access to the tram line to take you to wherever you needed to go. Great restaurants (We loved the Thai Tiger) nearby and grocery stores (Lidl had everything we wanted). Yaya took time, showing us the apartment and walking us around the neighborhood to show us where everything was. He definitely went above and beyond.
Often when I rent, I have to buy many supplies to use at the apartment. He had everything there, from paper towels, toilet paper, kitchen staples...you name it, he and Su had it...including orange juice and Prosecco for Mimosas and Stroopwafles, which my niece loved.
Since we are Americans, on the TV he downloaded American TV for us. We pushed a wrong button on the TV and he immediately came and fixed it.
But here is where Yaya became my Hero! I had a recent knee surgery to repair a stress fracture (and meniscus). The doctor said all was well, I had no limitations. He was wrong. My stress fracture was not well and I could barely walk, which, as you can imagine, can ruin a vacation. Yaya came and got me and took me to 2 places to buy a cane. They did not have one. The next morning, he was very busy, letting renters into another apartment for a friend of his who was out of town. Plus he had to drive to Brussels later that day. He had a lot on his plate. He texted me that he would go home and bring me a cane of his that I could use. He returned a few minutes later with a brand new cane. He had thought of another place to shop for it. It worked like a charm. I could walk fairly normally. He saved our vacation! He refused to take any money for gas or his trouble. He is wonderful.
Even if he hadn’t done this, I would highly recommend renting his apartment. It is lovely and the beds are so comfortable, we had to set our alarms or we would have slept the day away. This place, and Yaya and Su, deserve way more than 5 stars! Thank you, thank you, thank you! We loved it!
Very comfortable and convienent- thanks YaYa
My family of 4 enjoyed our stay here. We did not spend much time in the neighbourhood as the 3 and 14 tram were right outside the door getting us to the central area very quickly. YaYa was very welcoming and easy to work with.
We enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam. Yaya was a good host even walking us to the supermarket our first night. Loved the well stocked kitchen & proximity to transportation.
