Fully converted cottage located in one of the most beautiful, historic and interesting regions in Norway. Visitors can enjoy all winter/summer activities on their doorstep.
Comfortable accommodation over 2 floors - open plan kitchen/living area, two bedrooms (one double, one single, sofa bed and cot available), large furnished balcony. Fully equipped bathroom with shower and hot/cold running water throughout.Heating in all rooms and wood burning stove upstairs.
Please be aware that the ceilings on the ground floor are low simply because of the nature of the building. The 8 stairs that are in the property are quite steep and I would therefore not recommend for the elderley.
Meals provided on request including breakfast, evening meals, afternoon cream tea and picnic lunches given sufficient notice. All meals are made attempting to use my own organically grown produce, free range eggs and baked products whenever possible. Vegetarian food a speciality. Prices for meals are left to the discretion of the guests. Please leave what you feel is a fair amount for
the food and service in the cottage on your departure.
The owners will be available most days to ensure guests have a comfortable and stress free stay. Please knock on the main house front door if I am not out and about to let me know you have arrived!
We can also help with the arrangement of skiing tours, nature walks and visits to local places of interest on request.
There is also the owners' boat that can be utilised for 500kr per day on a nearby lake.
All bed linen and towels are provided.
There are numerous possibilities locally for cross-country skiing about 2 km drive at Eggeåsen in winter and Beitostølen about 22km drive which offers cross-country and slalom as well as other winter activities. Higher ranges and of equal distance by car are based at Vaset and Syndin (the last two have a road toll).
In summer, the area is perfect for hiking in forests and mountains. Slettefjell is the closest and highest peak and it is possible to complete a round trip in a day. The famous Besseggen ridge in Jotunheimen National Park is also close by - c. 40 minutes drive. There are also many very local walking opportunities which offer beautiful scenery and cultural and historical perspectives to this area, such as part of the 'pilgrim route'.
There are many other activity possibilities in the immediate area which I can help to organise or make contact with the organisers. These include rock climbing, dog-sledding, horse riding, visits to cheese-making farms, fishing (we offer a boat for hire during the summer months), cycling, and rafting for example. Artisanal produce as well as galleries, historic sites, churches and museums can also be visited nearby. Please just ask -I am happy to provide information!
The accommodation is on a farm with ample forest and open areas to offer hunting small game to guests with suitable licences should they be required and in accordance with Norwegian hunting regulations.
Buses run between Bergen and Ryfoss and Oslo- Ryfoss via the Express. There is also bus service running between Fagernes and Ryfoss and it is then 2 km to the property.
Guests wishing to find the property should put in the address on a GPS.
Please note that meals will be provided only in July and August of 2018 but please ask if you would like breakfast before these months and I will try to accommodate!
