Bedrooms 3
Space 1,000 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

1,000 Sq.ft entire apt with 3 bedrms, 2 full baths/2 private terraces/near NYC

This is a 2 family home in the Madison/Sheepshead bay area of Brooklyn. The rental unit is on the first floor with 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, kitchen with 2 sinks, fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, full oven and stove, large refrigerator. There is also a new coffee machine, new blender, toaster and new cooking utensils and pots and pans.

The house was recently built from the ground up in 2009. So everything in the house is new. We just re-coated our hardwood floors. The space is about 1,000 square feet. There are no neighbors on any side of the apartment except for us. We live in the apartment above.

I don't like clutter so it may seem minimalistic but it is cozy and comfortable. There are 2 bathrooms, one with a large tub and one with a standing shower. Both come with shampoo, body wash, soap bars and towels. All 3 bedrooms are fully furnished with fresh linens, and extra pillows and blankets in the closets. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed with a memory foam mattress for added comfort. The second bedroom has a double or full sized bed. The third bed room has a twin sized bed with pillow top mattress. For four or more guests, we provide an additional twin bed or trundle that fits in any of the three bedrooms. We also have a new sofa that opens into a full sized bed in the living room. There is a spacious living room/dining room area and 2 porches: one in the front and one in the rear of the house. There is a trampoline in backyard for families with kids. The space is extremely well insulated. There is central air conditioning in summer and central heating in winter. There is a new washer\dryer in the apartment as well.

The apartment provides easy access to shopping markets, subways and buses. It is 15 minutes away from Manhattan Beach, Brighton Beach and Coney Island. It is 30-45 minutes away from Times Square if traveling by subway. The biggest park in Brooklyn, Marine Park is only 15-20 minutes away in walking distance. It is also 20 minutes away from JFK airport. WiFi and Cable TV is available for guests. There is a video I made for Anne, a guest that wanted to see the apartment after she booked her trip. Feel free to take a virtual tour of my place.

About Amy Yehoshua

I am a lawyer and my husband is a computer specialist. We have 3 kids (ages 8, 10, and 12). We all love to travel. We have been guests so many times in the past that we learned how we like to be treated by hosts and now we can offer guests the best experience possible. We also want to expose our children to different types of people from different places in the world. And we want to give people that travel an enjoyable place to stay with all the comforts of home. We look forward to greeting you. We hope you will stay at our place. Happy travels!

Amy Yehoshua purchased this apartment in 2009

Why Amy Yehoshua chose Sheepshead Bay

This property is very special to me because it was passed down to me from my beloved father, may he rest in peace. We originally renovated it from a one family house to a two family house so that he could live with us but he was only able to enjoy it for 3 years until his untimely death. Though, his memory continues to live on and we treasure the memories we shared with him. We hope to share new wonderful memories with the travelers that come to visit.

What makes this apartment unique

What we like most about this house is its uniqueness on this block. It is an odd shaped house with only one house on either side so there are only 3 houses on this block. This house is completely detached and the neighboring houses face the other side of the street. Our house is in the middle of the block so it stands apart from the rest. It has a great lawn in the front of it with a large driveway for guests to park if renting a car. The trampoline in the backyard makes the house look inviting to guests with children.

Just got back from our NYC trip at this wonderful house and it goes without saying that this was possibly our best family vacation. First off, Amy made sure that the communication between us & her prior to our arrival was constant so there were no hiccups or snags along the way. When we arrived at JFK, her friend was there to greet us with a smile. Once we arrived at the house, we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, style and overall makeup of the house. We have vacationed all over the place, and this was by far the cleanest place we have ever stayed at. Our wonderful host was kind enough to leave a box of chocolates and fresh fruits for us as a graduation gift for our son who just graduated high school. To me that was a classy touch that kicked off a stellar vacation. The sleeping arrangements were very comfortable with ample sheets, blankets and pillows. The kitchen was equipped with utensils, plates, glasses, cups, you name it. Everything in the house made us feel like we were still at home. Not that we needed it because we were in a nice part of town, but the house was equipped with an alarm system that gave us a peace of mind while we were out sightseeing. The night of our arrival, Amy introduced us to her wonderful family and provided us with a wealth of information on how to navigate the subway system and gave us some excellent recommendations. Our son and their son are the same age, and they both hit it off; having a fun time in their trampoline. He was such a polite and well-behaved young man and I appreciate the fact that he made my son feel so welcomed. Amy’s husband was a delight and one of the funniest guys I’ve met. They even offered to drive us around town in their spare time. They never intruded and genuinely cared about our well-being and our enjoyment of their beautiful city.

The level of hospitality that this family provided for us was second to none. We have never in our lives met strangers that behaved like family the way that our hosts did. If you are reading this review, rest assured that you will not only be treated with superb service, but end up making wonderful friends. I am so glad that people like this exist in this world. They are a blessing to those around them!!! Thank you Hezzy & Amy for being awesome. I am already recommending them to my friends and family and they are eager to stay at their location based on our feedback.

Owner's Response: Marty and Taralee, Your review touched my heart. You were not only a pleasure to host but a pure joy to have in my home. From the moment we met you all, my husband and I felt a connection. You were all respectful and appreciative of my family and my property. You left the property squeaky clean when you left and I really appreciated that. I enjoyed being able to help you navigate your way through the New York City subway system. My son missed playing with your son after you left. Your feedback is truly inspiring. You have a beautiful family and through your examples your children will grow up to be as humble and kindhearted as you both are. You will always be welcome back to our home. Until we meet again..... Amy and family

Secure Location/Great Host!

  • 5 of 5

All I could say walking through was "WOW!" I met Hezzy (I think that's how you spell his name) first and he was very welcoming even though I walked into the wrong door, right into THEIR house! lol. He showed me around and then let me be. I stayed there with 6 people and we all fit VERY comfortably. I actually slept on ALL the beds and I can say they were really comfy! My favorite spot was the pull out couch!

They have EVERYTHING you can possibly think off: towels, wash cloths, shampoo, conditioner, soap, hand towels, blankets, pillows, everything in the kitchen was STOCKED, and they even left us apples.

Transportation was easy to get to. Subway station was only a few blocks away.

They have camera's around the property for security. Passcode to enter the premises. There's 1 off-street parking spot which is gated! There is also street parking available. This property is set up with wheelchair access!

Thank you Amelia and family for the hospitality and my family 'thanks you' for the fruit snacks, lol! Sorry they ate them all.

We stayed 2 nights in this home in Brooklyn, and enjoyed it very much. Dedicated parking was a huge plus. Nice, safe feeling neighborhood. Amy was very responsive to any of our needs, and her housekeeper is top notch! I recommend to anyone staying in the area. GREAT VALUE as well.
