Oristano House Rental Photos and Description

Detached house, private courtyard with BBQ. 4 bedrooms sleeps 9, 2 bathrooms

Online payments available direct to HomeAway to give you maximum security.

A spacious and comfortable house offering accommodation for up to 9 people plus baby facilities with 4 large bedrooms and two fully equipped bathrooms, in the lovely, typical village of Tresnuraghes close to beaches and other towns and places of interest. This grand house, situated at the heart of the village, gives that touch of luxury and comfort to your holiday. Being in the village means you can experience the Sardinian way of life and mix with the locals plus all amenities, shops, pharmacy, bank, bars and restaurants are on your doorstep. As it is still only a 5/6 minute drive from Bosa and the same from the coast and beaches with this lovely house you get the best of all worlds. The pretty courtyard at the rear is shaded by orange and lemon trees and has a built in BBQ and sink. There is also a terrace from one of the upstairs bedrooms which catches the sun for much of the day. Having recently been repainted inside and out and furnished to a high standard we feel this house is 'Something Special'.

We have now owned the house for 10 years. We were both lucky enough to be able to retire at the end of 2013 and, although we have very much enjoyed our house in Sardinia for the last 10 years, we can now spend much more time there. It's such a great place to chill and of course we have our favourite places to visit and enjoy the beaches and some very good restaurants.

About Stephen Hattersley

Both me and my wife were born and grew up in Yorkshire. I went into engineering and my wife a shop assistant. We moved to Shropshire 32 years ago mainly because of my job. 22 years ago we both started to work for ourselves and built up 2 businesses along the way.

Stephen Hattersley purchased this house in 2005

Why Stephen Hattersley chose Oristano

We had often dreamed of owning a property in the warm Mediterranean and have travelled around the islands and mainlands on holidays over the past 35 years.

A friend asked us to join him for a long weekend to see the progress of the build on his new villa near Bosa in Sardinia. During our time there we travelled the area and drove past the house that we were to buy a couple of times and of course talked about it. Before we returned home we went for a look around the house and immediately fell in love with it. So we returned home and put the wheels in motion to buy our house and 4 months later it was ours. It took more than 12 months for us to bring the house into the condition we wanted, painted inside and out and also add to the impressive quality furniture that we bought with the house.

What makes this house unique

Sardinia is such a lovely place to visit. It is mainly unspoilt yet there are plenty of places of interest to visit and the beaches in and around Bosa are ideal for all the family, they are wide and clean and have crystal clear blue water. There are lots of really good restaurants with very reasonable pricing. Although the diet has a lot of fish, meats are also very much available and vegetarian choices are both available and scrumptious. One particular fact that is worth knowing is that Sardinians are in the list of the top 5 of the worlds longest living people. Not surprising given the healthy and gentle pace of life.

An absolute gem!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived to the time we left we were at home in this delightful property. The owners have a wonderful house in a lovely, unspoiled village surrounded by gorgeous countryside.

The renting process from the time we booked to the conclusion of the communication after our return to the UK was seamless. Thank you.

The house is well situated for exploration, coastal pursuits and sampling the joys of Mediterranean cuisine. From the Pizza restaurant opposite to the wide variety of restaurants in nearby Bosa as well as the famous and, not to be missed, Riccardo's Trattoria in Magomadas we were spoiled for choice.

Chilling out after a days exploration was easy in the wonderful courtyard with orange and lemon trees to keep you shady if needed as well as a terrace above for those seeking a bit more sun. [Keep your eyes open for the pair of Kestrels nesting in the belfry next door!]

All in all, whatever your pleasure, sea, sand, countryside, food and history, this has it all.

An absolute gem!

Beautiful property full of character

  • 5 of 5

This was the third villa in our three week stay and a beautiful place to finish relaxing in Sardinia in.

The building itself is an excellent size for family accomodation- large rooms and very well equipped. The children enjoyed the DVDs and beach inflatables and toys we could borrow. The beach equipment was very much appreciated. We all slept well in the comfy beds and enjoyed sitting out on the lovely patio or on the sun terrace. The village was small but had all we needed and we went for cappuccino and croissants every morning. It's a pity that we only found the bakery on our last day. It wasn't included on any maps so we tried to draw one in the visitors book for future guests. The village is a great base to explore from. We went to many different beaches, our favourite being S'abba druche. The beaches in this area were great. Bosa and Alghero are lovely characterful towns. Some of our party spent a day at the hotel pool opposite which they enjoyed though it was quite expensive - pity a deal can't be struck for villa guests! The recycling was a pain and, although we followed the timetable religiously, things were not collected on the right days so a trip to the tip in bosa was needed. The restaurant tips were useful and we dined in three of them, two of which were lovely and the other was ok. A great information folder was provided. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend.

Une maison parfaite pour les vacances

  • 5 of 5

Owner's Response: My response is just a translation into English and many thanks to the Miguel family for their kind words and for the excellent condition that they left the house at the end of their holiday. A perfect home for the holiday ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This house is really lovely and ideal for family holidays. It is spacious, well maintained, fully equipped and its courtyard shaded by lemon trees is very nice. It benefits from an ideal location close to shops and close to the beautiful alabe port range. Finally, the owners are very conscious people available and the well being of their tenants. I would highly recommend this rental. Date of arrival 04 August 2015

Grand traditional town house, great chill holiday

  • 5 of 5

Palazzo Margherita is different to most medeteranean rentals, not a modern, holiday villa, but a very grand, traditional town house, the poshest in the village by far.

On arrival, the house really lived up to its picture on the website. Entering, the house was very spacious, with high ceilings everywhere, adding to the overall feeling of airiness. With 4 large bedrooms & two bathrooms (one downstairs) this was the perfect house for a large group, or a couple of families, the pics on the website did not do it justice. The house was clean, in a very good state of repair & decor throughout.

Whilst the bedrooms were fairly sparsely furnished, as you would expect in a rental property, the living rooms had numerous more personal touches, magazines, maps, CD player & TV with DVD player, even a selection of CD’s & DVD’s for the occasional rainy day. The kitchen continued this theme being very well equipped, with every cooking vessel & utensil imaginable, the cupboards were lightly stocked with dry foodstuffs, herbs & spices, even homemade marmalade was found in the fridge ! Also, for the adventurous, the wood fired pizza oven worked a treat.

Overall, this house felt very homely, as if you were guests in the owner’s home who had just left, as opposed to a standard holiday let, bare & sole less.

Outside, the courtyard at the rear was a wonderful area to chill out, shaded by lemon & orange trees, with a large traditional barbeque & even an outside shower. For the sun worshippers, there was also a 1st floor sun terrace, accessible from the courtyard & also from one of the bedrooms.

Local amenities - There was a small supermarket within 50 yards for all daily needs & a bakery with fresh bread every day, just beyond (not easy to find), there was also a restaurant & pizzeria just across the street & several other bars / restaurants in the village. Locally, Riccardo’s on the main street of Magomadas was a traditional restaurant specialising in fresh seafood, highly recommended.

We found the local beaches were good & clean at both Bosa Marina & Porto Alabe. Also Bosa was a good sized local town only 10 minutes away, with plenty of choice in larger supermarkets, bars & restaurants. A bit further afield wass Santa Caterina with a lovely restaurant (La Scogliera) at the back of the beach, overlooking the bay, a wonderful spot, the drive down the coast is great too.

Overall, a brilliant house to use as a chill out holiday base. Highly recommende

The house is beautiful in the unspoilt village of Tresnuraghes and is very clean and spacious. With a large bathroom on the first floor and shower, toilet/utility room on the ground floor it is very comfortable. We sat each morning in the large, well appointed kitchen for breakfast of local produce and fresh bread from the local baker (to die for), The large courtyard to the rear of the house is a nice place to relax in with shade from the orange trees planted there or in the lounge/dining room with comfortable seating to read quietly or watch one of the many videos supplied as well as a numerous amount of games. The island itself is beautiful with lots of breathtaking views. There is so much to see. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the house after the hectic life of living and working in England. We shall definitely be booking to go again and have recommended the holiday to friends and family. Well done to the owners for providing such a beautiful venue for a holiday!!

Palazzo Margherita - just wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Firstly, what can we say about the house? We loved it! The first thing that strikes you when you first walk in is the impressive entrance hall and large stare case. The traditionally styled kitchen is beautiful and has all the mod cons you need for your stay. The large dining / living room is a great place for the whole family to eat together if you don't want to stay in the kitchen to eat. Each of the four bedrooms has its own style, we stayed in the 'oak room', as I called it, which has some beautiful heavy dark oak furniture in it. Although this bedroom is on the front side of the house overlooking the road and a town square I can say that we didn't really hear any noise, especially after bed time. Each of the bedrooms are on the large side and have wooden shutters over the windows that you can close to keep the room almost completely blacked out, which is great, they also help keep the rooms cool. During our stay the outside temperature was over 30 Celsius but the house stayed nice and cool the whole time, but didn't get cold either!

There is an upstairs and down stairs loo and shower which is ideal for a family or if you are going with friends like we did. Outside the back of the house is a charming courtyard with an orange tree and lemon tree, at the right time of year I could imagine picking oranges to make fresh orange juice each morning :-) There is a BBQ and plenty of patio furniture and the trees offer some nice shade from the mid day sun if you are staying around the house, but if you fancy the full blast of the sun then there is a sun terrace to cook yourself on!

The village where the house is located is really quite quaint, there is a church right next to the house, the occasional church bells really add to the charm of the place. The local village shop is just around the corner from the house and sells all the essentials, the lady in the shop speaks pretty good English too and was quite helpful. There is also a small local bakery in the town, if you can find it, it's only a couple of minutes from the house and having fresh bread each morning was just great. There are a number of restaurants in the village but the pizzeria just opposite the house is fabulous and they have more pizzas on the menu then I have ever seen before, you may need your Italian phrase books to be sure what you are ordering.

The closest large town is Bosa which is about a 15 minute drive away down to the coast. Bosa itself is a very picturesque town with s

Tresnuraghes is a typical Sardinian village, 10 mins from the historic town of Bosa. It has shops pharmacy bank bars pizzerias and nearby restaurants. It is set in a very picturesque area suitable for walking and observing wildlife and has views of the sea. Bosa is set on the banks of the river Temo. The historical centre of the town slopes up from the river and is topped by Malaspina Castle, a walk through the cobbled streets up to the castle is well worth the effort. Bosa has lots of pavement bars cafes and restaurants as well as clothes, jewellery and shoe shops displaying fine Italian fashions. There are also churches, museums and a cathedral, the high narrow streets of the old Italian town give a warm romantic feel. On the road back to Tresnuraghes is the seaside resort of Bosa Marina the main attraction being a long wide strip of gently shelving sandy beach leading to crystal clear water. Here there is a variety of beach bars and restaurants and facilities for many water sports.
