Why On line booking at finnichcottages.com chose Scotland

Finnich Malise Estate had been little cared for for many years and presented a major and exciting challenge to us when we bought it. First priority was to repair and re-decorate the beautiful Georgian house and then to start recovering the parkland with its 200 year old trees. A separate project was to completely re build the derelict 19th century Steading buildings and convert them into 4 holiday cottages.

The projects continue with the recent planting of 9 ha of mixed Scottish woodland.

What makes this cottage unique

The uniqueness of the Finnich Malise estate which was evident to us when we first saw it, was its location. Close enough to Glasgow and Stirling but positioned in its own 200 acres of grounds to give total peace and tranquillity, with stunning views to the western North over the National Park and with easy access to Loch Lomond , 5 miles away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Finnich cottage is just ideal for travellers who wish to explore the Trossachs and also spend some time in Glasgow, both being worth visiting.

Our family is used to exchanging homes because we find you seldom feel at home in rentals but Finnich cottage offers both comfortable, cosy atmosphere and high standard equipment ,besides the owners were always friendly and willing to help.Last but not least is the location itself: first the cottage is situated in a peaceful rural estate and the views on the mountains are gorgeous. An address we highly recommend

Finnich Malaise is such a special place

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from spending a week in lovely Oak Cottage. The cottage is very well equipped with comfortable beds and super cosy duvets. The owners have lovingly restored the steading and do everything they can to ensure that your have everything you need while you are with them.

We ate in different restaurants in different towns each day, Stirling, Luss, Lomond Shores, Glasgow all a short, scenic drive away. However we were glad to get back in the afternoon to the peace and special atmosphere of Finnich. Lots of interesting walks and wildlife and stunning, snow capped mountains. We can't wait to return in the autumn. E and A Paterson and Beanie the dog

What Stunning Views

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with our 21 year old daughter. We were overawed by the stunning scenery. My husband couldn't wait to get his walking boots on. We loved Oak Cottage and its immediate surroundings. We had lovely days out in Glasgow and Edinburgh and a trip across Loch Lomond to the picturesque village of Luss. As it was June all the flowers were in bloom and were so colourful. We also went to the Bird's of Prey centre at Balloch and had a lovely evening meal at the Oak Tree Inn at Balmaha. We enjoyed the games room immensely and played many a game of table tennis of an evening. We would like to thank our host for all her hard work making the cottage so comfortable and also for the bottle of wine.

Superb cottage in idyllic setting

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent holiday in this lovely cottage. The beds were comfortable, lots of storage space, clean throughout. The bathroom was great and the kitchen well equipped and we had everything we needed. The views from the living room of the mountains was a highlight as were the walks in the estate. We were pleased with our welcome...thanks for the wine! Lots of maps and information in the games room. The area is fantastic....so much to do even on rainy days. Good pubs within a few miles so eating out was easy.we were there as a couple but for a family it is ideal. Very safe and interesting for children. We climbed Ben Lomomd and visited Glasgow and Stirling as well as enjoying lovely walks around the lochs. I would certainly recommend this cottage to friends and hope to go back again.Oak cottage has a lovely patio outside which feels very private. The TV reception and wifi are both excellent. There is a barbecue but you need some Scottish sun for that! All in all, this is a great place to stay.

I am utterly in love with FInnich Malise!

  • 5 of 5

I consider myself so very lucky that I found this place online. I originally stayed for 4 days in October and was so utterly enamoured with it that I was able to book it for a 3 month stay in the Winter. This proved to be not enough and so I extended my stay another two months.

Firstly, the grounds and views are utterly beautiful. Even after 3 months, I still find new views, new routes to walk with the dog all the time and not sure it'd even be possible to ever tire of them. (The dog loves it too!) And if you like animals, you often spot deer and there is a chicken coop too.

I think the location is perfect, Croftamie is a small village and at Finnich you feel you're away from it all, yet with other visitors and people who live there you're never short of lovely folk to chat to. It is near some fantastic walks, not far from Loch Lomond (to my mind, the most beautiful place on earth) and there are small towns within a couple of miles if you need supplies.

I stayed in Sycamore and it is absolutely ideal for single people or couples. Tastefully constructed and decorated (with obvious real care and attention to detail) and excellently equipped. There is also a mini playground for younger children.

I asked if some friends wanted to come for New Year, which they did and they stayed in Oak which is equally highly finished, cosy and we had an absolute ball for the three nights they were there.

As I have now stayed as both a holiday guest and a temporary resident I can't quite recommend this place enough. I clearly love it, and think anyone would.

And last, but by no means least, Marguerite and Andrew are absolutely charming, welcoming and friendly people who it has been a real pleasure to both meet and deal with.

Calm, idylic and restful

  • 5 of 5

I think the easiest thing to say about finnich cottage is would we ever go back.

Well the answer is simply we would not hesitate to return to finnich cottages as it was so lovely. The cottages are placed in a suburb area that is quite and restful and way from the noise of tourist areas, however a 15 minute drive puts you in a lively area of pubs and cafés.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. I hope that when you called the position of the cottage "in a suburb" you really meant superb? As there is no suburb anywhere near us, Many thanks in any case Marguerite

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful time in the "Oak" cottage. The rooms are spacious and meet the requiremenst even of demanding guests. Expect high standards ! The tranquility is not to be beaten and the views from the cottage into the countryside are breathtaking. The service provided is 100%. We have already told friends to come here when they look for a perfect holiday flat in Scotland.
