|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
A truly unique and beautiful estate on the southwest tip of Kent Island, literally in the middle of Chesapeake Bay. Available as a summer rental for the first time in 2013, the guest reviews are worth reading. Amenities include 2.5 very private acres with 550 feet of private shoreline on two sides, a large sandy private beach and 2 stone jetties. Amazing wrap around Bay views go to the southern horizon, and for many miles from east through northwest. A six story light house is less than a mile offshore, marking the main ship channel to Baltimore, directly in front of the house.
The Point of It All was designed over 7 months then built over a year as a private resort for family and friends, with something for everyone. There are sweeping views of the Bay from all main rooms, 4 bedrooms and the guest apartment/game room.
Watch the ships go by or the kids in the pool from the 1st floor deck, two screen porches on the first floor, four balconies on the 2nd floor, or a chaise lounge by the pool. Stroll through large shade trees and wide expanses of lawn overlooking the Bay, or shoot baskets on your own basketball court. The kids will love the elevated play house and swing set.
Enjoy the beach, pool, water slide, heated spa with jets, basketball court, and dock. Read, tan and relax above the waves on three comfortable benches on the dock, or on chaise lounges by the pool, or just lay on the warm sand on the beach. Two stone jetties attract fish year round, so good fishing is within an easy cast -- and you can catch your own crabs from the dock.
During summer the prevailing breeze is from the south or southwest, sending cooler air from the Bay toward the house. The Bay side of the house faces southwest, toward the light house and ship channel, taking full advantage of the amazing views.
A stacked stone wood-burning FP, large flat screen TV, entertainment center are in the living area of the Great Room. Three more gas FPs are in Bedroom 1 (Master), the Study, and Bedroom 6 (Guest Apartment/Game Room).
Bedroom 1 (Master) has a king. BRs 2,3,4 have Queens. BR 5 has a bunk bed. BR 6 (Guest Apartment/Game Room) has a bunk bed. All bedrooms and the Guest Apartment have flat screen TVs with digital HD cable.
There are 6 full baths. The Master Bath has a steam shower and large Bay view soaking tub with air jets.
Adjacent to the Bay front deck is a large pool, large heated spa with jets, diving board and water slide. There is also a propane fueled fire pit on the pool deck.
There is a large sandy beach and a dock with a boat lift, a jet ski lift and davits -- so you can bring your boat and jet ski. An elevated Play House and swing set are attached to a huge maple tree. There is a large enclosed outdoor shower, gas grill, large heated & air-conditioned 2-car garage with large work bench, epoxy coated floor, lots of storage. In the northeast corner of the property you will find a basketball court.
HD cable TV, internet, WiFi are provided. One tandem kayak and two single person kayaks with paddles and life jackets and five adult bicycles are provided.
Maid service including clean linens, lawn service, & pool service are provided weekly.
Located on a very private point at the southwest tip of Kent Island, it is only 15 minutes to shopping and restaurants. It is an honest 35 minutes by car to quaint and historic Annapolis, 1:15 to downtown Washington D.C., 1:00 to Baltimore's Inner Harbor, and less than an hour to quaint towns on the Eastern Shore including Easton, St. Michaels, Oxford and Chestertown.
This property cannot be used for weddings or wedding related functions, rehearsal dinners, brunches, showers etc., or for other types of parties, gatherings or events. Only the persons staying in the house may use the property. No pets and no smoking.
This is a home that family vacationers return to year after year! We look forward to welcoming you to a very special vacation at 'The Point of It All'.
Our vacation week at "The Point of It All" was my retirement gift to myself... Participating with and enjoying my children and grandchildren was a special treat. The little ones especially loved the playhouse and swing set..and the pool! 2 of our kiddos strengthened their swimming skills enough to go off the slide and board in their own, like their other cousins...... Then those were favorites, too! We swam, kayaked, biked, played whiffle ball, basketball, fished, crabbed, played on the beach, looked for Seaglass and shells. The boat lift was great for the boat we brought.... And boating activities were also enjoyed. At night, we sat around the fire (easy to use propane) and watched the children put on "shows" for the adults. Inside, we played with the many, many games available, put together puzzles, played pool, or watched movies. The house is immaculate, beautiful and very comfortable. ... And filled with everything you could possibly need. There were plenty of spaces, too, that someone could retreat for some quiet time when needed. I especially loved falling asleep and waking up to the sight of glittering water. ( that sight can be seen almost anywhere in the house). Sitting on a bench on the dock or on the porch at night watching the beautiful sunsets was also a favorite for all of us. The owners were always available and quick to help whenever we needed anything or had questions. We hated leaving..and can't wait to come back sometime!
Once again we enjoyed a spectacular week at The Point of it All. Amazing sunsets, great family time and fantastic weather. We were hopeful that with the change in ownership that everything would still be nice and we were not disappointed!!! The new owners have replaced some of the furnishings throughout with new comfortable as well as functional furniture. The new boat lift worked wonderfully. We enjoyed day trips by boat to Annapolis and St Michaels. The kitchen is still fully stocked with all the essentials required to cook if desired. We ordered crabs at the Marina next door and enjoyed a wonderful meal. The home was immaculately clean. Another wonderful trip...we can't wait for next year!
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and the place was fantastic. There is so much to do, we didn't even get to play on the pool table until Friday night. I was really hoping for the lightning show on the bay that previous renters mentioned, but no such luck. The good news is that meant the weather was great so we basically lived in the pool. Standing in the pool during the sunset with your eyes right at the horizon is unexplainable. The Point of it All is truly unlike any place our family has ever stayed. Thanks for the hospitality!
Sadly, we left your beautiful home on Kent Island this morning. Our three generation family of 15, ages 76 - 3 had an amazing week. We have traveled and rented homes extensively all over the country and we all agree yours is with out a doubt been the most fun. You have honestly thought of everything.
The house was immaculate and well appointed. The amenities were extensive, from kitchen items to pool towels. The game room was totally FULL of age appropriate games for everyone. The pool was in constant use, I am fairly certain the kids may have worn the sliding board out;). We appreciate you thinking to order up that AMAZING sunset every night for us to enjoy.
Derek, your caretaker, was so nice when we arrived and departed. He answered all of our questions and was a wealth of information. The boat lift was perfect and we enjoyed many days tubing out in the bay. The Matapeake boat ramp worked out great just as you suggested. We used Kerri out Foods as well for three dinners they delivered to the house. They were delicious and the owners and staff were an absolute delight!
All in all, our only complaint was that one week wasn't long enough....no one was ready to leave. Ultimately they blamed me for not thinking of that sooner. The pictures on the website are beautiful but honestly they don't do your property justice. The view is spectacular.
Thank you so much for a helping us make my Mom's "BIG" birthday a very special memory for all of us. (The birthday cake from Peace of Cake bakery was amazing, as promised!!) We'll be in touch for next year.
I'm a returning renter and look forward to returning for many years. I've previously rented similar waterfront homes across the country, from Maui to Malibu to Maine. No other home has the combination of quality, amenities, and views. There is something for everyone, from the basketball court, tree house, game room and pool for the kids to relaxing and experiencing the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay for the adults. Highly recommend!
We are a family of 13 (ages 4-68) who have vacationed from Massachusetts to South Carolina. We found this home to be simply the nicest that we have stayed in. It was well stocked with all the essentials and then some. The teenagers enjoyed having their "own"
apartment above the garage.
We kayaked on the Chesapeake, had dinner at Harris's Crab House, had ice cream at the Kentmorr Marina, fished in the bay, golfed, and traveled one day to Washington for a White House tour. We also used the pool extensively.
We had a storm one night that was quite a show of thunder and lightening. Our 4 year
old twins are normally afraid of thunderstorms, but they were enthralled with this one.
They wanted to know if there was going to be another "storm show" the next night!
Derek, the caretake, was also very helpful explaining the pool and hot tub equipment.
Great time! You do need a car to do other activities on the island.
Why be stuck in heavy traffic for 3 hours or more trying to reach the Atlantic beaches?
Instead, you could be relaxing on your own private beach a point in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. This truly is a paradise that offers something for everyone.
If you ever want to leave this beautiful place for lunch, dinner or for a day, The Point of It All is only :35 from City Dock in Annapolis, 1:15 from downtown Washington D.C., and 1:00 from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
From here it is easy to explore Maryland's scenic Eastern Shore including quaint colonial towns like Easton, St. Michaels, Oxford and Chestertown. Visit the Chesapeake Bay Museum in St. Michaels, take the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry to Oxford, go antiquing around Chestertown and Galena, or shop at the nearby Queenstown Premium Outlets for many famous brands. Golf at the nearby Blue Heron or Queenstown Harbor courses.
After arriving at this uniquely beautiful family resort, you will soon decompress.
Regardless of their initial plans, most of our guests decide to spend most of their time on the property. Please read the reviews for guests’ comments on this phenomenon.
Active things to do without driving anywhere include swimming, soaking in the heated spa, windsurfing, boating, kayaking, fishing, playing basketball on the private court or volleyball on the lawn. Walk, run or use our bikes to check out beautiful farms, forests and water views along Kent Island's South Trail and Cross Island Trail.
Fishing is available from shore because two stone jetties attract rockfish (striped bass), bluefish, perch, croakers, and red drum. Charter fishing boats are available in nearby marinas. You can bring your own boat or jet ski and store them on electric lifts on the dock.
Those looking for piece and quiet will find this home to offer plenty of places where you can relax, read, or work on a tan -- while an ever-changing parade of huge ships, sailboats and wildlife pass by. Blue herons, Ospreys and Bald Eagles and a variety of waterfowl nest nearby and visit this point.
