A truly unique and beautiful estate on the southwest tip of Kent Island, literally in the middle of Chesapeake Bay. Available as a summer rental for the first time in 2013, the guest reviews are worth reading. Amenities include 2.5 very private acres with 550 feet of private shoreline on two sides, a large sandy private beach and 2 stone jetties. Amazing wrap around Bay views go to the southern horizon, and for many miles from east through northwest. A six story light house is less than a mile offshore, marking the main ship channel to Baltimore, directly in front of the house.
The Point of It All was designed over 7 months then built over a year as a private resort for family and friends, with something for everyone. There are sweeping views of the Bay from all main rooms, 4 bedrooms and the guest apartment/game room.
Watch the ships go by or the kids in the pool from the 1st floor deck, two screen porches on the first floor, four balconies on the 2nd floor, or a chaise lounge by the pool. Stroll through large shade trees and wide expanses of lawn overlooking the Bay, or shoot baskets on your own basketball court. The kids will love the elevated play house and swing set.
Enjoy the beach, pool, water slide, heated spa with jets, basketball court, and dock. Read, tan and relax above the waves on three comfortable benches on the dock, or on chaise lounges by the pool, or just lay on the warm sand on the beach. Two stone jetties attract fish year round, so good fishing is within an easy cast -- and you can catch your own crabs from the dock.
During summer the prevailing breeze is from the south or southwest, sending cooler air from the Bay toward the house. The Bay side of the house faces southwest, toward the light house and ship channel, taking full advantage of the amazing views.
A stacked stone wood-burning FP, large flat screen TV, entertainment center are in the living area of the Great Room. Three more gas FPs are in Bedroom 1 (Master), the Study, and Bedroom 6 (Guest Apartment/Game Room).
Bedroom 1 (Master) has a king. BRs 2,3,4 have Queens. BR 5 has a bunk bed. BR 6 (Guest Apartment/Game Room) has a bunk bed. All bedrooms and the Guest Apartment have flat screen TVs with digital HD cable.
There are 6 full baths. The Master Bath has a steam shower and large Bay view soaking tub with air jets.
Adjacent to the Bay front deck is a large pool, large heated spa with jets, diving board and water slide. There is also a propane fueled fire pit on the pool deck.
There is a large sandy beach and a dock with a boat lift, a jet ski lift and davits -- so you can bring your boat and jet ski. An elevated Play House and swing set are attached to a huge maple tree. There is a large enclosed outdoor shower, gas grill, large heated & air-conditioned 2-car garage with large work bench, epoxy coated floor, lots of storage. In the northeast corner of the property you will find a basketball court.
HD cable TV, internet, WiFi are provided. One tandem kayak and two single person kayaks with paddles and life jackets and five adult bicycles are provided.
Maid service including clean linens, lawn service, & pool service are provided weekly.
Located on a very private point at the southwest tip of Kent Island, it is only 15 minutes to shopping and restaurants. It is an honest 35 minutes by car to quaint and historic Annapolis, 1:15 to downtown Washington D.C., 1:00 to Baltimore's Inner Harbor, and less than an hour to quaint towns on the Eastern Shore including Easton, St. Michaels, Oxford and Chestertown.
This property CANNOT be used for weddings or wedding related functions, rehearsal dinners, brunches, showers etc., or for other types of parties, gatherings or events. ONLY THE PERSONS STAYING AT THE PROPERTY MAY USE THE HOUSE.
NO PETS, NO SMOKING. MAXIMUM 12 GUESTS. NO EXCEPTIONS.
This is a home that family vacationers return to year after year! We look forward to welcoming you to a very special vacation at 'The Point of It All'.
We booked a last minute get away from DC and it was amazing! Can’t believe that someplace this private and this spectacular is so close to home and yet feels like a different world. The house and the amenities are amazing. Everything you could want from cozy and comfortable furnishings and beds, a fully stocked kitchen, games, puzzles, wifi, HD TVs everywhere and more. The house is immaculate and well cared for…so clean. And the views…you can see the bay from everywhere and every time you look at the horizon the view has changed.
The owners were super helpful. They answered all of our questions about local activities, they gave us tips on how to use a lot of high tech stuff in the house and they showed us how to use the sound system so we could have music on the porches and throughout the house. We were able to log into Pandora on the main system and have our play lists on speakers inside and outside the house. They made checking in and out easy. We were surprised and delighted to arrive to gifts of bottles of wine and packages of local brand cookies.
We spent hours watching waves splash on the jetties, birds in flight, big boats working their way past the light house and coming this way and that way on the bay. We enjoyed long walks, amazing local crab cakes, tomatoes from the farm stand, deep breaths and total renewal and relaxation. There was insane wind so we couldn’t fly kites or kayak but that only gives us more reason to come back. On our list for next time…taking all of the kayaks for a group ride around the lighthouse!
Unfortunately, my review is not as stellar as the others. While I agree that the house and property are absolutely beautiful, and the amenities are too numerous to name, I did not have the relaxing time that I thought I would. We received constant texts for the first two days that there were doors not closed properly, as the owner uses a Smart system and gets alerts to such. I appreciated that the owner was only trying to help, as the AC will not work properly with the doors open, but perhaps that's a problem right there. We had visits from the caretaker, the landscaper, and the sprinkler system guy. The caretaker was quick to let the owner know when items were not put back properly (did not even talk to us first - just made his own assumptions), and we then received a follow-up phone call regarding such. My husband had a tragic death in his family while we were there, which resulted in friends, who happened to be staying nearby in Baltimore, coming to be with him. We then got another phone call from the owner threatening to remove us from the property for breach of contract for the extra guests. Didn't even ask about the circumstances - just assumed we were breaking the rules. In addition, the one smoker in our family ALWAYS was sure to smoke away from the property but accidentally dropped an extinguished cigarette near the pool area. Again, the caretaker took note and informed the owner. This was also part of the breach-of-contract conversation that left us feeling like scorned children. After that, we couldn't relax for one second. We were constantly worried that one of the kids was going to leave a door open or some other infringement that would result in an eviction. Perhaps the 38 page contract we had to sign prior to our stay should have warned us that this was not the place for us. I would not, unfortunately, stay there again, and probably wouldn't be welcomed back anyway. This is not the place you want to be if you intend to relax. We are a family group of three generations who have used this site to rent multiple houses over the years and have never had a problem nor left a negative review. We are always clean, respectful, and considerate. We worked really hard to have everything perfect and keep the house spotless and locked up tight, but instead received a scolding. Such a disappointment.
My family and I had the most incredible time at this wonderful home. The house was well maintained and extremely clean, Elizabeth does a great job of detailing all the specifics of the house. My four kids loved the pool area, as well as the tree house. Their was also a basketball court and large backyard to fly kites and play catch. The children also enjoyed the bikes, which were available on the property and as well as the pool table.
Also, the home was very comforting and well organized. Very cozy kitchen and living room. Hot tub was a good relaxation. Overall this home was awesome! Highly recommend with families with small children like myself. My family enjoyed it very much and we will definitely come back.
Home and amenities are outstanding. So much to do or choose to do nothing and just stare at the beautiful view. We enjoyed our stay more than words can describe. Easy drive to Annapolis for day trips. Owners are very nice people and easy to work with. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a little piece of heaven to get away for a while.
We are return renters and it's great to see the new owners taking pride and updating the house with new attractions and amenities (e.g. fire pit, new basketball hoop, new living room furniture, etc.). If you want to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing week with your family (large or small), away from the normal tourist crowds, or you want to spend an active week on the water, this home is for you! With the huge yard and pool, and a 270-degree view of the water, it's easy to spend most of your time with the kids outside (swimming, football, baseball, basketball, etc.). If the sun is a little too hot for you, enjoy one of the several screened porches and the frequent breeze. There are plenty of things for the kids to do inside if it's a rainy day, including video games, board games and a pool table. We'll be back again next year!
We spent a week here at this lovely home. It couldn't have been better! My husband and I, our children and spouses, and 3 grandchildren had the most wonderful week. We had such fun setting the crab traps, even caught a few. The kids loved running out and checking them every morning. My granddaughter was thrilled to find the trap also caught other animals like fish, small crabs, and even seahorses a couple times. She would keep them as pets for the day, and release them the next morning. Everyone loved the pool, with the slide and the diving board. We all spent much time there. The house was perfect. It had everything we could have needed. We cooked most of our own meals and found everything we needed to cook with. There were TV's in every room, though we had such beautiful weather, we didn't spend much time looking at them. Evenings were perfect to sit out on the screened porch and talk or play games. The house was spotless, with plenty of room to spread out, and all kinds of games and such were available should we have a day of bad weather, but we didn't. The island was quiet and peaceful where we were. Many of us enjoyed getting out for a run in the morning, or taking a bike out for a ride. And we all enjoyed the kayaks that were there to ride.
We also took advantage one day of our proximity to Washington DC and drove in and spent a day sightseeing.
Our week there flew by! We would definitely return to this beautiful, quiet retreat!
Why be stuck in heavy traffic for 3 hours or more trying to reach the Atlantic beaches?
Instead, you could be relaxing on your own private beach a point in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. This truly is a paradise that offers something for everyone.
If you ever want to leave this beautiful place for lunch, dinner or for a day, The Point of It All is only :35 from City Dock in Annapolis, 1:15 from downtown Washington D.C., and 1:00 from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
From here it is easy to explore Maryland's scenic Eastern Shore including quaint colonial towns like Easton, St. Michaels, Oxford and Chestertown. Visit the Chesapeake Bay Museum in St. Michaels, take the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry to Oxford, go antiquing around Chestertown and Galena, or shop at the nearby Queenstown Premium Outlets for many famous brands. Golf at the nearby Blue Heron or Queenstown Harbor courses.
After arriving at this uniquely beautiful family resort, you will soon decompress.
Regardless of their initial plans, most of our guests decide to spend most of their time on the property. Please read the reviews for guests’ comments on this phenomenon.
Active things to do without driving anywhere include swimming, soaking in the heated spa, windsurfing, boating, kayaking, fishing, playing basketball on the private court or volleyball on the lawn. Walk, run or use our bikes to check out beautiful farms, forests and water views along Kent Island's South Trail and Cross Island Trail.
Fishing is available from shore because two stone jetties attract rockfish (striped bass), bluefish, perch, croakers, and red drum. Charter fishing boats are available in nearby marinas. You can bring your own boat or jet ski and store them on electric lifts on the dock.
Those looking for piece and quiet will find this home to offer plenty of places where you can relax, read, or work on a tan -- while an ever-changing parade of huge ships, sailboats and wildlife pass by. Blue herons, Ospreys and Bald Eagles and a variety of waterfowl nest nearby and visit this point.
