About Rich Schlosser

Hello I am Rich Schlosser. I live in Phoenix Arizona and Pagosa Springs. It is the perfect balance for me because of my love for nature and the outdoors. I will do my best to make your visit the most memorable and help guide and assist you in as much adventure or solitude as you wish.

Rich Schlosser purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Rich Schlosser chose Pagosa Springs

I have skied the Rocky Mountains for over 20 years. The winters are beautiful with ample activities but when I visited Pagosa for the first time in the summer of 2005 and experienced the colors, the textures, the wildlife and the outdoor adventures, I became hooked... I now come to Pagosa Springs once a month and spend the summers months here.

What makes this cabin unique

The Redhawk Haven is just 6 miles north of town and backs to the San Juan national forest which gives a serene feel of 'being away from it all'

Winter holiday retreat

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect for a long holiday weekend with my boyfriend and two dogs. We loved the easy access to national forest and close-to-town but not in town location. The studio was plenty spacious for us, and we were able to cook nice dinners in the kitchen. I would say there is limited counter space and the two tables are not large, so if cooking a meal with lots of prep, be mindful of the space. However, there were ample supplies. The bathroom is large with a beautiful shower!

Lovely and simple forest retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Redhawk Haven. We had lovely hiking adventures during the day and a comfy and restful place to come home to. The Ponderosa unit was everything we hoped it would be.The environment inside and out was simple and tastefully decorated. Rich really thought through what would be helpful to have available--from a well appointed kitchen to maps and resources for exploring Pagosa Springs. We found Rich to be an exceptional host--his kind and gentle spirit helped us relax into the natural beauty around us. Rich was both sensitive to our needs for privacy and at the same time was gracious and available when needed. Our dog really enjoyed playing with Skyler, the border collie, concierge of the property. We had a lovely stay... my heart is full and I am refreshed. Thank you! Jan and Tom

Super find!

  • 5 of 5

Great little retreat to unwind at-very quiet and peaceful. The deck is large, private, and shady most of the day with comfortable seating. The deck has a gate so our dog could be outside with us and we didn't have to worry about him wandering off. The forest is right there with lots of easy trails to hike. Inside is just as nice and looks brand new. It is very spacious for a studio!! Kitchen is well-appointed and the bed is comfortable! I would definitely go back (and probably will). Thanks, Rich for an awesome experience!

Deer Every Morning. Deer Every Evening. Hummingbirds in Between!

  • 5 of 5

Another exhilarating yet peaceful stay at Red Hawk Haven in Pagosa Springs thanks to Rich. This time (our fifth visit), we stayed in the Ponderosa unit. The unit is beautifully decorated, but you'll never notice because you'll be luxuriating on the back deck the entire time. Wow!!! Even on the days when we had to work, we sat on the deck absorbing nature. From the deck, we saw too many birds to count, including the highly entertaining battle of the hummingbirds as they buzzed about, trying to outmaneuver each other for feeding rights. I never imagined you'd get to know the personalities of individual hummingbirds, but you do. We also saw deer every single morning and evening. Even a coyote elegantly slank past one afternoon.

We really cannot recommend this highly enough. It's small, but perfect for a couple or a family with young children. Rich is on-the-spot anytime you need anything, and it's obvious he cares about his guests enjoying nature and the best Pagosa Springs has to offer. Book now!!!

Steps away from hiking in the National Forest!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this small beautiful accommodation for a week in late June. The private second floor studio suite at the back of the house was perfect for the 2 of us and our doggie. Beautiful bathroom and full kitchen made this suite very functional. The diamond for us was the large beutiful deck facing the forest where we sat outside and had views of nature while we enjoyed drinks and dinner at the comfortable tables. We literally were just steps from the gate to enter the forest trails where we hiked with our pup, Dixie.

The host was available and accommodating. We would love to stay here again on our next trip!
