We arrived in Murfreesboro not really knowing what to expect. We stopped at Em's Cafe for lunch before going to our cabin. Boy were we in for a treat! Excellent food, service and the friendliest people ever!
We, myself and two nieces and two nephews continued on to our cabin , The Morning Star. We were met by our very friendly and energetic landlord, Mike Guthrie. We walked into a gorgeous and immaculate two bedroom cabin with two baths a huge fully stocked kitchen, dining room and living room with two pull out sofas. The cabin was also stocked with outdoor and indoor games, DVDs, and a tv in every room and washer and dryer.
Morning Star was in an ideal location: 3 miles from Lake Swaha, 5 minutes from grocery store, gas, souvenir shops and maybe ten minutes from the diamond crater which was our primary destination this vacation.
I would definitely make this a return stay. Great place.
We stayed at one of the cabins for 3 days. The cabin was nice, clean and comfortable. However, I thought it was a bit odd that we did not receive the "southern hospitality" in person as we did when I made the reservations on the phone. Would have been nice if we were asked if we would like to use the pool verses putting in chemicals and being told that we couldn't because it was being treated. Also, I'd like to comment on the no pet rule. The owners and their family can have their pets inside the cabins, but no one else can. Same goes with smoking. Other than that, the place was nice and peaceful.
My wife, sister and I stayed here for three nights, and it could not have been better. Everything was clean and the cabin was comfortable. The cabin is bigger than it looks in the photos; it has two large bedrooms and each has its own bath. There is a laundry room, a back porch and a large great room with a den area, a dining table and a fully equipped kitchen.
The highlight was the owner, Mike. (I didn’t get to meet his wife). Mike was friendly and funny. He made us feel at home with his southern hospitality. He didn’t bother us, but he made sure everything was okay. I enjoyed getting to know him.
I highly recommend this place.
The cabin was like new and was very spacious. Everything was very high quality. The owners were the best and treated us as guest. I've never experienced such great service from any other place. My sister who was diagnosed with terminal cancer chose the cabin and every one of us enjoyed it. She likes the Crater of Diamonds which only took 3-5 short minutes to get to. The scenery was beautiful. The cabin is packed with almost everything you need. We didn't want to leave! I'm so thankful we chose this as the place to stay with our family. We have many beautiful pictures and wonderful memories.
We absolutely loved this peaceful place. The owners are over the top great and very hospitable and thoughtful. We were rock hounding the south with our 17 year old homeschool graduate as a gift to him. The place was great for hanging out by the firepit, great kitchen for easy meal prep and nice area to explore. We did visit the diamond mine but did not strike it rich there, but the blessing of the Morning Star cabin made us feel truly rich indeed.
Our experience was excellent! We combined two families and the way floor plan of the cabin was great! There are two master bedrooms with private bathrooms! Mike and his wife were super friendly and the cabin was full of entertainment! Board games, magazines, outdoor yard games, etc. I would highly recommend this for anyone!
Cabin is conveniently located near Murfreesboro yet secluded enough for privacy. Grocers, Arkansas Diamond Mine and Lake Greeson are minutes away via paved roads.
