Excellent location- great view
Super 2 bedroom spacious apartment. Large balconies with direct view to sea. All required furniture and equipment. Despite the New year period the place was not too busy. API beach bar is a 3 minute walk.
Stay in paradise
We left in a snowstorm in Massachusetts for a week in Dominican. The condo was perfect. Large, clean ,modern with huge porch for outdoor living facing east for sunrise. The beach was 50 yards away which was raked and cleaned from seaweed every morning. It wasn't busy so getting a great Cabana every day was easy and the chairs were very comfortable. We didn't use the pool but it looked great. Our host Sandra was fantastic helping us with any questions or needs we had. Loved it so much have already rented for a month next year.
Condo was excellent
We stayed for 2 months --January 3rd to March 4th. A 2 month stay is much different than a week or 2. I'll try to address both.
Transportation is a big issue. Renting a car for 2 months would have cost over $2000. For a week or 2 it would be affordable. You need a car for groceries, especially for longer stays.
I rented a car at the airport for 2 days on arrival and really loaded up on groceries.
There is a car rental company within Cap Cana in the same complex as the mini mart. I rented from them twice for 1 day each --$55----$60 or about $350 a week. Made a couple of grocery runs each time. Company is called Goldnet. The concierge will call them and they will deliver and pick up the car. Covered parking with nearby elevator to condo floor.
Sandra, the agent, was absolutely wonderful. She and her husband went way out of her way to assist us especially with the supermarkets.
Nacional is the closest big market, but Jumbo and Pola are about 10 minutes down the major highway toward Bavaro. Both are very good and offer different items. Very easy to get to and you don't have the crazy drivers that Bavaro has. Sandra can tell you how to get there.
Water is another issue to deal with. You can't drink the tap water anywhere around Punta Cana. There now is a 5 gallon water dispenser. 2 people will go through 5 gallons in a couple of days.
The condo is nicer than pictured and the water and pool were closer than I thought. Fantastic view. Everything worked well. There is some snorkelling equipment and laundry supplies.
Electricity is included, which is rare for PC. We generally don't use air conditioning much but you can't leave the windows open because of mosquitos that will wander in.
Beds were comfortable. Free calls to the USA was very helpful.
You can get fresh fish at the marina. However, you have to get lucky. I walked the marina almost daily and did not have a lot of luck. I did get lucky once and got Mahi Mahi. The fish was about 9 pounds and it was filleted in front of me. I got enough fillets to make 4 dinners for 2, 8 servings. $20. In the week we were leaving, there was a lot more available but I didn't need it. Negotiate price before buying.
As many have commented, Cap Cana is not busy. There are a couple of restaurants in walking distance but we didn't go to them. There is a nearby bank along the marina with an ATM. The nearby mini mart is closed.
Beautiful, well kept condo in a nice, quiet complex.
Again, Sandra is invaluable.
Another relaxing vacation
Our second one-month-stay at this beautiful, clean and quiet condo is perfect. Yina and Sandra were extremely accommodating and helpful. We are looking forward to comeback next year.
The condo was wonderful. Yina and Sandra were both helpful and accommodating. Beautiful pool too. Serene and peaceful.
Our one month stay at the condo is wonderful, relax, comfortable and perfect. The condo is spacious, beautiful, clean with deluxe amenities as advertised. The beach and sky view from the large balcony is priceless with nice and cool ocean breeze. We spent hours in the balcony on the deluxe beach chairs to read, nap or star gazing. Perfect star gazing of the southern sky from the balcony; full moon is speechless. The beach is nice, warm and calm water. The weather is perfect during our stay. We use waffle maker, rice cooker, ceramic baking dish and blender daily to make our meal.
The resort is huge, beautiful, well maintenance. We enjoyed our daily morning walks within the resort. The condo manager, is very friendly who provides valuable tips and local events info upon inquiring. We are looking forward to come back next year.
Below are tips for a long stay without a car:
- grocery shopping at El Nacional supermarket near the PUJ airport before getting to the condo. The taxi cost from the airport to the condo with a stop at the supermarket El Nacional is 40.00.
- within the resort, for a 6.00 round trip taxi to Las Canas small grocery market. It does have deli meat, fresh produce and fruits, ice cream, frozen meat and fish. To me, the price is the same as in US.
- 5 minutes walk from the condo, the Il Cappucino mini market has basic items like water, soda, milk, bread, limited grocery and household items. The price is about 10% - 25% more than Las Canas depends on the items.
- we get fresh caught fish from Mike's Marina Fishing Charters SRL; Cap Cana Marina Piers C#28 and C#29; check http://www.mikesmarina.info/ for contact info to get the boat schedule. The crew will clean and fillet the fish. We can see the boats from the second bedroom with binoculars.
- Bring plenty 1, 5 bills for taxi or tips.
Note: stay 30 days/29 nights or more resulting paying tourist fee at the airport upon departure. We did not know, pay 62.00 pp.
