Guestbook comments from the owner

We arrived with our 8 children and never dreamed of the memories we would make at this perfect cabin by the creek. Our four boys explored the beauty of God's Beautiful Creation by the flowing river. The girls laid blankets out and read under the big, colorful trees. My husband taught my boys how to cut wood and we sat on the front porch wrapped in blankets and talked of "family things" and our future dreams… The smell of the wood stove will be a special reminder of our stay at Rock Creek.

Quiet Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Rock Creek Retreat. It is in a lovely setting where you feel as if you had the woods and river all to yourself. The outdoor fireplace and lovely porch where we could eat while we saw and heard the river made us feel like we were completely in the woods, but when the rain came we could go inside and watch a movie and play games. We loved watching all the hummingbirds that came to feeder on the porch. It was also located near Black Mountain, Montreat, Asheville, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. What a wonderful combination of the great outdoors and the modern conveniences! Thank you for a serene and restful time at your cabin!

The location was perfect, room layout was adequate for my husband, myself, our grown daughter and two children. The cabin is located next to a fabulous stream, it is secluded and quiet. My only "hang up" was the musty smell that knocked me over when I opened the door. This smell was pervailant each and every time we returned to the cabin from a day of sight seeing, shopping or hiking. After we were in the cabin for an hour or longer the smell wasn't that noticeable to me. I guess I got use to it, however my grown daughter was very concerned. We opened the windows, even though temps were cold outside, we turned the ceiling fan on as well as the attic fan. The smell didn't seem to bother my husband as much, he was just excited to be close to a stream where he could do some trout fishing. He would definitely rent this cabin again, as for me, no thank you.

Location to die for!!!

  • 5 of 5

It was our second stay at Rock Creek Retreat. We rented it for a week in 2010 for my daughters graduation from Warren Wilson College. We had a house full of family and made some wonderful memories. The house is well stocked with everything and anything you could need. We were there for a lovely snow this time and the setting couldn't have been more beautiful. We will be returning soon. Thanks for sharing this wonderful place with us.

great setting

  • 3 of 5

The setting is very nice, you can see and hear the river from the house and property.

The electric heat is ample and the wood stove was nice to burn in the mornings.

A few updates would be nice... The TV is tiny, and the overall condition of the home is a little rough. (Nice for a fishing cabin, but as a vacation home, and I feel it is priced as a vacation home,) it is a bit rough.
