Guestbook comments from the owner

We arrived with our 8 children and never dreamed of the memories we would make at this perfect cabin by the creek. Our four boys explored the beauty of God's Beautiful Creation by the flowing river. The girls laid blankets out and read under the big, colorful trees. My husband taught my boys how to cut wood and we sat on the front porch wrapped in blankets and talked of "family things" and our future dreams… The smell of the wood stove will be a special reminder of our stay at Rock Creek.

Quiet Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Rock Creek Retreat. It is in a lovely setting where you feel as if you had the woods and river all to yourself. The outdoor fireplace and lovely porch where we could eat while we saw and heard the river made us feel like we were completely in the woods, but when the rain came we could go inside and watch a movie and play games. We loved watching all the hummingbirds that came to feeder on the porch. It was also located near Black Mountain, Montreat, Asheville, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. What a wonderful combination of the great outdoors and the modern conveniences! Thank you for a serene and restful time at your cabin!

WE LOVED OUR STAY AT ROCK CREEK RETREAT!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this wonderful cabin by the Broad River was amazing. It is a beautiful spot in the mountains, an older cabin that has been beautifully maintained.

We spent hours on the front porch in the morning drinking coffee and evenings watching the fireflies. The mornings were crisp and cool. Our two teenage grandkids spent many hours down at the creek. They enjoyed horseback riding at two stables. We found three restaurants we really liked Larkins on the Lake, an Italian restaurant on the hill Lake Lure and Phil's BBQ Black Mountain.

The kitchen is fully equipped and everything worked fine. We found many treasures at Chimney Rock stores. We will be back for another stay.

Vacation- Family Retreat

  • 4 of 5

From the time we stepped in the door it was so serine... You drive down an amazing driveway hidden in the woods.. To pull into an open area with tones of trees and your own personal river bank.. After you pull yourself away from a magistic outdoor resort you then walk into a cabin that is cozy and the floor space is open but alittle small.. All through the house is Amazon bay windows and you are sour roses with everything you could possible need (already). It was stocked better than a hotel. It smelled like forest all through the house. There was a personally heater in every room with your own remote. There was only one TV in the house but thank god for that.. I have 2 teenagers and they loved it as well even though there was no WiFi or TV in their rooms. You have a game room full with family fun games for everybody.. We enjoyed every min. The only down fall was someone before us brought a pet (witch it clearly states not to). The futon and some blankets were full of dog fur. It was not enough to cause a problem because there were so many adventures to be had outside. The house was updated with a new flat screen TV and dvd and they did have Dish.. The cast iron stove was awesome! We spent most of our time outside by the creek and taking hikes and small adventures around the area. So much more to say but you get it. I can't wait to go back in the spring with my family.. We did speak to Mrs Miller and she was as sweet as you could get a person. I would say this is an amazing place for family and couples by themselves.. Worth it!! Make sure to read the guest book..

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this property for my father’s birthday. We really enjoyed the location. It was easy to find and only a 15 minute drive from downtown Black Mountain where we walked around and ate lunch. If you need groceries, go to the Ingles as soon as you get off the exit. The property faces the river and is perfect for fishing and even swimming in the warmer months (it was too cold while we were there). They did a wonderful job with the porch and the stairs to the river. The cabin is spacious and the living room is very new and updated, as is one of the bedrooms. The other parts of the house could use some updating, however they were still very cozy. Our kids really enjoyed the property and had great adventure sliding down the hill and walking along the rocks. We would certainly enjoy coming back in the summer months. The kitchen was well equip and we used it to cook breakfast and dinner. The owners are very quick to respond and will answer all of your questions. The only downside was that I believe their might have been a mouse in the kitchen bc we noticed some droppings. Nothing that can’t be easily fixed though. It is the mountains after all.

perfect relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved it so much the first time we went in the summer time that we went back again in Oct to see the leaves change. It was absolutely beautiful. The house is in the perfect location for us. Its out of town yet closer enough to lots of attractions. The river is gorgeous and we love to just sit outside and relax listening to the rushing water. We will definitely be back again. Thanks for letting us stay again. We truly enjoyed it.
