Our stay at the Rockin' Z ranch delivered much more than we expected. It's a beautiful property with incredible trout ponds, towering trees, a volleyball pit and private areas are everywhere to sit and visit or just be by yourself and take in the majesty of the pristine surroundings. Our cabin was super clean and very spacious. Even though we had the experience we were looking for about being 'remote', we're just minutes from the quaint little Main Street with awesome restaurants and grocery store, fuel and anything else you'd need. Our host was amazing - he was highly communicative leading all the way up to our stay, very welcoming when we arrived and gracious with his time sharing information and recommendations for the area. This stay was especially meaningful as it we were looking for a place to bring military veterans suffering from PTSD for future stays for a place to "get away" and work through the healing process. We brought an acclaimed and very well known military veteran on our stay as part of the scouting party to discover the perfect place for our future veteran trips. And, out of every place we've been, the Rockin' Z ranch was the unanimous choice by everyone. We give this property and its host the highest marks. You should book this while you can, otherwise we plan on filling up the calendar with our groups in the near future. You won't be disappointed.
We stayed in Don's cabin for 5 wonderful nights for our trip to Glenwood Springs, CO. Don greeted us when we got there and made us feel right at home, like the place was ours. Don is a super dude and even provided us with good information about our surroundings so we actually found more to do than we had originally planned. The property is beautiful, clean and well kept. As an added bonus, if you like sail boats, your in for a treat. Its close to Rifle which you will find Rifle Falls state park and close to Glenwood Springs where there are a ton of fun things to do. There is a very nice wood burning fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and plenty of space for a family of 5. Its very private and quiet for you to sit, relax and enjoy. We had a great time in a marvelous place.
We had a wonderful stay at the Rockin Z Ranch. It felt like we had our own private park complete with volleyball court, fire pit, trout pond, and tons of open space for our children to roam. My 3 year old daughter caught her first fish and it was the highlight of her trip. Don is a thoughtful host and made sure we had everything we needed. Very cozy and relaxing. We hope to make it the Rockin Z again soon.
We enjoyed our stay at this property. There are a couple of things that must be mentioned. There are lot's of spider webs inside and outside. None of the outdoor furniture was cleaned and the chairs were covered in webs and spiders. I had to clean them and as a paying guest, I feel like this should have been done by the owner. The sailing theme is out of control. It was very cluttered. It would be nice to have a table and chairs inside that seat the number of people the house can sleep. There was a small 2 person table and a bar with 2 bar stools. Upon arrival the owner and his friends were at the outdoor "bar" drinking and chit chatting. The house is right by highway 6 and there was a lot of traffic. All and all the house it self is nice, just needs to be redecorated and cleaned. The volleyball court was nice and our girls loved it.
I was invited by a friend to get away for a weekend to Rockin Z Ranch. The owner is very kind and gave a us a little tour of the 52 acre property. We stayed in the Sailing Cabin, decked out with sailboats and other nautical and sea related items. The cabin sleeps 5 I believe and has everything one could need in the kitchen - just bring food!
There are two stocked ponds on the property and we caught trout out of both. There was a BBQ grill, fire pit, sand volleyball court and even an outdoor bar area.
The property is amazing, the cabin was wonderful and or course the fishing was fantastic! I highly recommend planning a stay.
It is only minutes from Rifle and probably 20 to Glenwood Springs if you want to take a meal out or take advantage of the hot springs in Glenwood.
I visited the Rockin' Z ranch earlier this month and must say it was nothing short of AMAZING. The cabin was very comfortably appointed. Some may say there isn't a TV, well if you are in Colorado to sit and watch TV I say find another place. The views are breathtaking. Your host was absolutely top notch all the way and very accommodating. If you have never fly fished (like me) Don will even show you how to. I still prefer a spinner or bait cast rod and reel set up, but it was something to try. The ponds are very lively and the fish are plentiful. Great place to learn. Coudos to Don Z at the Rockin' Z ranch I had an amazing time and I highly encourage you visit the vacation destination.
