We can help you with KAYAKS! The park at Kealakekua with the kayak launch is now closed and WE can help you with licensed/registered kayaks for rent! On the shores of Kealakekua Bay, a Protected Marine Conservation area, is Naiai Kai Hale (Dolphins & Sea) this casual 3 bedroom/3 bath, oceanfront hale. This is a great adventure location, you can kayak and snorkel by the Captain Cook Monument, Swim with the Dolphins, hike the palis (cliffs). Or just relax in the Jacuzzi, bath in the sun on the expansive oceanfront lawn and enjoy the lovely ocean view on the upstairs lanai.
The oceanfront hale has an ocean views from every room but one. The oceanfront hale windows and doors open up to the oceanfront setting and it feels like you are outside when you are inside on a covered lanai. This open and airy private hale has all the amenities one would desire for a tropical vacation. The property is surrounded by fragrant Plumeria Trees and Coco Palms and includes a sun deck, hot tub and outdoor shower. You can enjoy your dinners watching the famous Kona Sunsets on the spacious lanai, which can seat 8 comfortably. The home has wireless Internet service, High Definition TV and an iPod compatible entertainment system.
It is an unusual morning when the dolphins are not frolicking with swimmers and people kayaking and taking advantage of the clear waters directly off the oceanfront deck. The best and highest rated snorkeling in ALL HAWAII is found RIGHT HERE at Kealakekua Bay. Turtles make their way along the shore to rest, while stunning arrays of tropical fish accentuate the pristine coral reefs. You have direct access to the Bay for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking. Onsite kayak and snorkel equipment can be arranged upon request.

My family of 6 stayed here for 8 days. The house is modern, clean, and spacious and pleasantly open to the elements. The landscaping is lovely. The waves and the birds sometimes lulled me to sleep and sometimes kept me awake. But either way the morning came with the scent of Plumeria drifting over from across the street and that was better than coffee. You can snorkel right below the property if you're careful getting into the water. There are rocks and sea urchins to avoid. Kayaks are available two doors down and you could more easily enter the bay for snorkeling there. On our final morning I spotted the dolphins leaping in the bay and we quickly got into a kayak and paid them a respectful visit. It was magical.
Amma the property manager gave us a thorough introduction to the house. We didn't have any problems so we never needed to contact her. Everything about our visit was special. Even the rain. I highly recommend this property.
One caveat: the street outside the gate is busy with cars and foot traffic day and night. We were awakened several times by shouting. But it didn't last long and the ocean put us right back to sleep.
In the mittle of nature, the ocean is your garden. The house with its surrounding gives you all you need for a special stay at a special place. It is perfect to stay with friends. Enjoy Kealakakua Bay in a perfect way. I will be back :-).
We had an exceptionally wonderful time. It was incredible to have the breeze throughout the home and what a wonderful place to celebrate the birth of Christ as well as the matrimony of our son and new daughter-in-law! The convenience of an open concept kitchen with all the amenities made every meal a family event. Snorkeling and diving with the dolphins in this natural setting couldn't get any better. Every night we enjoyed the breathtaking sunset from the lanai and living room. Incredible would be an understatement. All of the conveniences of home at your fingertips. We appreciate the great reservation communication as well as Amma's hospitality. We'll be back again!
Could not have been better...3 generations of vacationers enjoyed being together in the same house complete with a great view, access to kayak=Dolphins, snorkeling off our own property plus the whole bay, and 10m access to shopping, eating out, and 60m access to the south point drive 50ft cliff jump...thx Dave and Amma for your hospitality...it was very appreciated.
Our stay in the home at Kealakekua Bay could only have been better if we were still there. Very comfortable home in one of the prettiest spots on the island. Communication was great and everything went very smooth with arrival and any needs we had while there. We'll be back!
We stayed here for 2 weeks in January 14, talk about awesome! Had a hard time leaving this house to go and explore the island, the only complaint ;) it truly is a beautiful location & kayaking with the dolphins was definitely the highlight of my trip! Cannot wait to come back!
